I only give them a star because I was forced to the staff is rude and there food is over priced and horrible worst experience I ever had please take heed and save your money because of certain medical reasons I am not able to have super spicy food I asked to taste the gravy of the oxtails and curry chicken and was given a rude no we don’t do that I purchased food from them before and wasn’t happy but was willing to give them another chance I will not be returning and everyone I know will be informed.

The food is good but I feel like they don’t give enough food especially if you are getting something like of tails. They do have some pretty good roti. I stopped going bc of the portion sizes I know am driving across time for. The same price but greater portion of food.

This place hasn’t changed the girls at the front are super slow and very rude. It seems like the older guy knows how to take care of customers always slow I can’t take it anymore. The food isn’t as good as it used to be a few months ago

They never have anything and they don’t serve dumplings. What Jamaican restaurant doesnt serve dumplings?! The only reason they’re relevant is because they’ve been around for the longest.

Oxtail dinner is pretty good not to mention the curry shrimp. I’ve been coming here for years and it always seems that when I order any type of chicken, it comes out dry. Whether is curry or stee chicken. Rice and peas is pretty good I must say.

I was skeptical about trying this place after reading the reviews, but I was really craving Jamaican food so I gave it a shot. Went in around 8 pm, process was quick. I got the small oxtail dinner, it came with rice peas cabbage and plantains. The oxtails were a good size, not big. I got about 4. It was pretty good, I would Go back To try something else. Biggest con is that the plantains were not that ripe.

I came here with a friend who lives on the campus two blocks away and she loves the of tails. I came in and it looked like a mix of an eat-in restaurant but feels soo cheap. I decided to look past the everything and just order some food. *Bam!!* Roti was on the menu and I just had to have it. I haven’t had some roti since last spring and I couldn’t resist. I sat down, friend had her of tails and saw my chicken roti and started eating it and just kept digging. The disappointment started when I realized that there wasn’t any potatoes in my roti and that killed me. I kept eating and my friend did enjoy her of tails but I just couldn’t finish my roti and just felt utterly disappointed. I doubt I’ll come here again seeing that I was raised in the Caribbean, and hold Caribbean restaurants to a higher standard.

Oxtail was soooo good, rice and peas soooo good, cabbage soooo good, plantains soooo good! Food was delicious! My fiancé had curry chicken, but we are not big fans of curry chicken with white meat bc the sauce and seasoning doesn’t penetrate the chicken well. Con:we sat in and it was cold inside. U.S. And another couple had to move away from the door because aside from little to no heat, there was a cold draft coming in.

The food tastes excellent but the bones need a little more meat on em!!! The place has a hole in the wall décor style, but that doesn’t deter me. The people behind the counter seem friendly enough. The oxtail, curry chicken and goat taste great but like I said could def use some more meat on them. The steamed cabbage… YUM! Theres a place near Senoritas that also serves Jamaican that I’m tempted to try if I continue to leave here hungry.

I moved back into the area and me and my girls wanted to find a good Caribbean food joint so we gave this place a try as I remember eating there over 11 years ago when I was in Bloomfield College. Maybe the food went to crap or the original owner sold the business but it was terrible. We ordered oxtail and got hardly no meat and the meat wasn’t tender as I am use to and the gravy was not good.

I love me some Caribbean food and often times I don’t feel like driving to NYC, so I come here from time to time. I love the Oxtails and beef patties here. A plate can set you back $ 10-$ 15 greenbacks. The other day we were running around and had a craving for some Oxtails, rice and plantain! She ordered the curry goat, rice and peas and cabbage. I ordered the Oxtails, rice and peas and plantains. For drinks we both got cream soda. All in all the food was good. The rice was too spicy and cabbage was ok. The curry goat was good and the Oxtails were spot on good!!! The meats were flavored well, but we found everything else to be ok. Returning is all about those Caribbean cravings. They have plenty of tables, but the food prep can be a wait so I would suggest calling ahead. Give them a try, my taste buds can be a lil biased sometimes.

I will NOT be going back here. Now before i start let me say that i’ve gone here more than a couple times; just to give the food a fair shot. I’ve had the oxtails which i enjoyed, but they were barely had meat on them. Everytime i’ve gotten a chicken or veggie patty they are ALWAYS barely heated through… no matter what time i’ve day i’ve gone… like why serve it if its not even done? I’ve had the carrot cake which was stiff an pretty tasteless to me. The worse part above these things is that i’ve gone in there in the afternoon an literally waited 10 minutes b4 someone came to the front. Like i mean REALLY??? Me & another customer were just standing there saying hello an no 1 came until like 10 mins later NO exaggerations. Also they move SLOOOOOW. like why does it take you 5MORE minutes to just grab a damn patty and put it in the bag… like smh… really? I’m done. The food is NOT that great nor is the service and I am TRULYNOT a person who finds joy in crapping on anyones business, especially(our own), however, it is what it is… or in this case ISN’T *insert side eye* smh.

Awful. I got the curry goat roti. I’m trini and know good curry and roti well. The roti was thick and not what I’ve gotten at other«jamaican» restaurants before. definitely not in Trinidad. I know there are different curries out there, but I hated this one. It was a dark orange color opposed to yellow. I took 2 bites and my mouth was on fire. I didn’t ask for pepper. I tried to eat it cause I was hungry, but the flavor and the roti was awful. I bought 2 curry goat rotis(hoping to have the other for lunch the next day), but I threw a roti and a half in the garbage. I was so disappointed.

Food excellent, service terrible. Its like your disturbing their time? You would want to go out your way because the food is great, but have to think twice if your in the mood to deal with the attitude or terrible service.

Originally from Jersey City, and used to get all of my Caribbean food from Nicole’s, which was delicious. Was there last week and had a wonderful meal. Well, now in Morris County, and was craving some more Curried chicken and Jerk pork. Because of the reviews for Dev’s, I decided to drive there yesterday and get some good eats. Well, I somewhat felt like another reviewer as when I walked into the restaraunt there was no smell of food at all; simply a odor. No one was welcoming or friendly with me being a new customer. I ordered my food to take out, and waited a very long time. Took the food home, and kept waiting to get a whiff of the food in the car, but nothing. Once home, I took the food out, heated it up, and hoped to be amazed, but instead I got Curried chicken with loads of small bones in the chicken, and the rice and peas. Lot, and lots of small bones; had to gingerly eat the rice peas for fear of swallowing a bone. Second disappointment was the jerk pork, which should have been called jerk fat, as there were no lean meat, but huge pieces of fat with jerk gravy, or seasoning on it. I had to throw it all out. What a disappointment. To be fair the rice and peas, other than the many bones, tasted good; and the cabbage fair. Chicken did not taste like Curried chicken as I know it. Well, as my Dear Daddy Brower user to say, «I made two trips in one here today, my first and last» Sorry to leave such a bad review, but this was a very bad experience.

Nope! I’m super picky about my Jamaican food. Mostly because I’ve been spoiled by the jerk pits around in my life. In Montréal, Toronto, Boston, Jacksonville Florida and Palm coast Florida had amazing spots. They did it up right. Just like back home. So much so, that someone on staff for sure knew someone from my extended family back in st. Ann. Anyway, so I’ve just to Montclair nj, and saw the reviews on Unilocal. So I get in the car and get an order of jerk pork, plantain and rice and peas. I didn’t like anything about this. Not even the rice, sadly. Too much coconut and wayyyy too much jerk gravy. This makes me very sad because now I’ll probably not go back there. I’ll try a few more around the area and make a list. So far, I’m not happy and a bit nauseated. So on conclusion, go there if you aren’t super picky. But really, I wouldn’t bring my mother there. :(

This place is definitely a takeout spot… the restaurant is decorated strangely and seems thrown together, but don’t let it fool you. THEFOODISGREAT. Order the stewed chicken… they give you a huge serving, plus beans and rice and plantains. I also highly suggest getting a side of Mac n’ cheese… you can literally cut it with a knife, it’s more like cheese and macaroni. there must be a pound of butter in there. SO good and SO filling, good for when you need a home-cooked tasting meal.
