Do not go here on weekends! The local old lady that works there is mean mouthed, and is prejudice. First of all while outside looking at brochures on deck, my black grandson was yelled at from a person behind us. He was opening door to go in, but it was locked. As he was trying other door the lady yelled at him for trying second door. She walked past us with a look of disdain in her expressions and deneanor. When she unlocked the door and went around the counter, I asked«so what is there to do in Bodega Bay»? And before I could get the rest of my question out(which was for people with disabilities) she looked at my Black Wife, then at me and said. «Really? what kind of question is that? How do I know what u want to do??» I mean I’m serious, why would u come in here abd ask that? My wife and I looked at eachother and walked out. I have never been treated in such a poor manner from anyone, let alone a tourism information center! Will never go back to Bodega Bay. And we have cancelled fishing guides out of the bay. Will take my money elsewhere. John Barnetr

Bodega Bay is worth a day trip. The Sonoma Coast Visitors Center is quite helpful. There’s a plethora of pamphlets, menus of nearby restaurants, and luckily Highway 1 isn’t the white knuckle ride till you take the Jenner/Fort Ross route(!!) The lady there gave directions to the UC Davis Bodega Marine Laboratory that were more helpful than the official website(!!!) There was plenty of «Birds» memorabilia, one can get a whole Alfred Hitchcock DVD collection, along with maps for the Sonoma/Marin Cheese Trail, Fort Ross pamphlets in English&Russian, and cool sweatshirts for commemorating when Bodega/Bodega Bay was Port Rumyantsev(from 1812 to 1841) It’s nice to be in the Russian Far East without taking the Trans-Siberian Railroad. It’s a nice little place on the way to beholding the majestic Pacific Ocean.

Drive all the way from SF and wanted to know if there was a good restaurant that was dog friendly in the area. Found the Visitors center next to the gas station. Walked inside. Saw lady. Gave us a list of places that was«dog friendly.» Went to 1 restaurant… no dogs allowed. Went to 2nd restaurant… no, that list is old, we can’t have dogs here. Went to 3rd place… no your dog is not allowed and that list is old. WTF is a list of dog friendly restaurants when none of them let dogs in??? At least she gave me a list… I suppose.

We went to the Sonoma Coast Visitors Center to find out maps on Bodega Bay. I had a full agenda on where to go but online & mapquest weren’t that good, so I had an idea where the visitors center was an when we got close found it. There are signs for Tourist Info and pulled in to the small lot which is next to a gas station. Across the street is The Tide Restaurants — where Hitchcock filmed«The Birds». The visitors center is tiny, but full of info. The man working at the visitors center was very helpful. He gave us maps, Bodega Bay Area Sites & Directions, and some coupons. Worth stopping in.
