Was a great place to eat. Last I checked it was closed due to fire damage, a couple of little shops are gone as well.

Kind of your standard Asian joint. My server was especially friendly and the yellow curry chicken was very good. The vegetable crunchy, flavor solid.

I have literally been going here with my family since I can remember, I have eaten pretty much everything though my family either gets the War Wonton Soup or the Dinner A now. I personally couldn’t live without the veggie egg foo young, you can bet if it is dinner out with our family it is Wok King. The veggie egg foo young is enough for three meals and the price is amazing. I love it. Chicken corn soup? Only got me through every sickness in my childhood and now even though I’m vegetarian I hear it is just as yummy as always. There is usually only one waitress and you may have to wait a TINY bit or even a not so tiny bit but it is worth it and they are the sweetest most amazing people there. The location and hours are awesome, easy to park. Also I have to mention inside is very relaxing, it is well decorated with a wonderful atmosphere.

Jot n sour soup is the best in town. Chow fun beef was fresh and tasty. Mr Tongs chicken is not breaded and served with hot peppers to spice it up. Great takeout service. Family run and they all make an effort to be sure customers are happy.

I love this place. Their fried rice and Lo Mein and chow Mein is just delicious. I’m pretty picky with my Chinese food and I think this is the best I’ve found in the Boise area.

For a Chinese American place in Boise it’s not too bad, better than most! The hot and sour soup is awesome! So are the crab ragoons. Have good lunch specials too.

Wok King is just your average American-style Chinese place. Nothing more nothing less. I was in the mood for Chinese while in Boise on business and happened to be near Wok King, after finding it on Unilocal. There was only one waitress working, and she seemed quite busy handling the very few other customers — it took maybe 10 minutes before I was noticed waiting to be seated. But she was VERY nice and sweet, and very responsive thereafter. I ordered one of the 1-person combo dinners — all in all, it was pretty good — again, just basic American-style Chinese. I doubt that anything on the menu would ever rate as authentic. But i wouldn’t expect that in Boise. The food was quite adequate, and for anyone liking American Chinese will be totally happy. Prices are very reasonable as well. 3 Unilocal stars — A-OK! Dave

Love the food at this place and have been going forever; however, the service is getting AWFUL! Today we were in there and it took over a half hour to get the special — the special! It used to be that you’d order the special and it was at the table before you even finished your soup, but not lately and like I said, today it took over a half hour. The owner was the only person in there waiting tables — hire more help for crying out loud!

Whitney only gave it a tentative three stars because she doesn’t know the inside track on what to order(not necessarily on the menu) from this Boise Chinese food institution. I’ve been going to this family-run restaurant ever since I was a kid and they never fail to satisfy. If you get lucky on a busy day, you’ll catch momma Tong loudly berating the kitchen staff and running around in a crazy huff. The quality lately is not quite as good since Mr. Tong has moved on to cooking at their new restaurant in Meridian, but still worthy. Try these and you’ll probably vote for another star: –Pot Stickers –Chow Fun Noodle with beef, dry(no gravy) and add sliced jalepenos(fresh) –Green bean pork with black bean sause –Teppan beef with black pepper sauce and sliced jalepenos(sizzling plate at your table and if the jalepenos are particularly hot that day, the whole restaurant will become a diffusive wave of uncontrollable coughing – very funny). –Salted Pepper Chicken –Ma Po Tofu –General Tong’s chicken(named for the owner and chef – not my favorite but many love it; good if you like the combo of sweet/spicy/sour).

It’s nearly impossible to find good Chinese food in the intermountain west. Sauces are sickly sweet, bland, or overly salty. Meat is often overcooked. Wok King serves none of these lame dishes, instead cooking items just right. Don’t go expecting big city Chinese. If this restaurant were in NYC or San Francisco, I’d give it only two stars. But if you’re in southeast Boise and have a craving for properly cooked, reasonably tasty Chinese, head for Wok King.
