ASICS

Had an extremely positive experience here! I’ve been wearing Asics for a few years and I had no idea that that was an Asics store in Boston. My old ones were getting well, old. I had cheated on Asics and bought a pair of Ryka sneaks. Found that those were too flat and didn’t support me well. And so I went back to the brand I know and trust.
I walked in and I loved the variety of sneakers that they had on display for women, men and children. One of the sales associates, Maggie, was extremely helpful and made sure that the fit was perfect and that I had everything I needed. She also told me about the awesome promotions that they had going on at the time too. I took advantage of the sock sale. A girl could always use more socks right? I ended up grabbing a pair of black and purple cross trainers which were similar to my old ones. Totally okay because I love my Asics! Kudos to hubby bear for getting me into them.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. I tend not to review chain stores like this, unless I encounter something absolutely fantastic, or absolutely horrendous, in terms of customer service. Then I feel compelled to address it.
In this case, it was the former. I was greeted the second I walked into the store. I was given some time and space to browse, but all of my questions were answered by a very friendly guy whose name I WISH I could remember (I am horrible with names), so I could give him the shout out he deserves.
I happened to stop by on a day where everything in the store was 30% off — sweet! I am obsessed with the Asics brand; their Gel Craze training shoes provide the best support out of all the shoes I’ve tried, and I find that my shin splints have gone away ever since I started wearing them. So… It shouldn’t surprise you that I currently own four pairs of them, and am looking to get one more (hey, I wear them to classes five or six days a week, so it really is money well spent!).
The aforementioned employee was not only super friendly, he is also super good at his job! He could guess my shoe size simply by glancing at the boots I was wearing. Turns out they didn’t have my size in the color I wanted, but he offered to contact other stores and have it shipped to their store. So he took down my name, email, and phone number and said he would contact me the second the shoes arrived. He assured me that if the shoes arrived outside the 30% off time frame, that he would honor it anyway. Now that is customer service! It is little things like this that can make a dreary day like this one seem just a little bit better.
Also, they have a nice selection of workout apparel — shirts, leggings, jackets, and so on — so I will definitely be back soon.

There are lots of running and athletic apparel stores in the neighborhood, but Asics stands out because of its friendly and knowledgeable staff and its high-​tech stride analysis that will ensure you get into the proper pair of running shoes.
They use two methods to map your foot and stride pattern. First, a computer maps each foot while you stand still, identifying your exact foot size, arch height, and where you support your weight (heel, ball of foot, inside, outside, etc.). Then you run on a treadmill while a camera records your stride. You end up with a computerized report that shows your stride pattern, foot plant, any heel/​ankle roll, etc., and a recommendation for the best running shoe for you. More interesting, I thought, is that the employee can show you your stride in frame-​by-​frame slow mo, which, as a longtime runner who thought I knew everything about my stride and shoe needs, was very enlightening! Not only did the analysis shoe that I probably should be in a different type of shoe, it also identified inefficiencies and wasted motion in my running form. Cool! There is no charge for the analysis, but of course the goal is to get you to buy Asics shoes.

ASICS was founded by a Japanese guy. He started making shoes in his garage like 50 years ago? The company was named «Onitsuka Shoes» after his last name back then, I believe. He changed the name to ASICS a while ago. Enough about their history. Their products are amazing. Designed and made very precisely. No wonder many serious marathon runners pick ASICS shoes. The store itself is very clean, well organized, and futuristic in my opinion. The staff are nice and attentive. I had a very nice shopping experience at this store. Five stars!
