Bacco’s Wine and Cheese

LOVE this place!
The Bacco staff is so friendly and knowledgable. The store is small but there are lots of delicious, unique, carefully selected local products available. They offer a wide range of wine choices and also have a great beer collection. To my delight they offer lots of tastings of wine, cheese and other products. Such a great place to stop in for lunch, to pick up something special, or just to have a quick snack and look around while waiting for the bus!

Bacco’s may say Wine and Cheese on the sign, but it’s so much more.
We picked up amazing mustard seed mustard, «ugly» hot sauce and pickled cherries from here. We also tried bacon spread, amazing macrons made by an 80 year old man, and, oh yes, cheese and wine.
It’s such a cool store. There’s so many great things here to eat and drink and try and check everything out. If you like eating or drinking, this is the spot to try.

The weekly specials are always fresh though they are the same every week. The deli has a list of preconceived sandwiches but feel free to create your own!
Today I went with the roast beef with cheddar cheese and caramelized onions and bbq sauce on the onion focaccia bread (toasted) — you have a choice between bbq sauce or horseradish with this sandwich!
I also opted to add a pickle because they are so good!

What a delight this and its sister shop are for travelers who have exhausted the many wonderful local restaurant options.

Get a gourmet dinner to go, then stop next door for a tasting and choose your favorite wine, beer, or cheese to take back to your room.

This is a great little shop but the cheesemonger could use some serious customer service training. No doubt she knows her cheeses but every time I go in there she is short and unfriendly. Today takes the cake as my friend asked her for suggestions in putting together a meat and cheese platter and she responded by saying rudely, «I have over 120 cheeses here you need to tell me what you want». The whole point in asking is that we were looking for some suggestions from her or at least a friendly response. Her attitude will make me think twice about cheese shopping at Bacco’s.

Went in today looking for a specific prosecco (i’m very new to the wine scene so i asked for what i knew) and was met with a very swift, «nope.» Was not friendly and did not appear to genuinely want to help. Very odd and poor service. I ended up around the corner at another store. While that store didn’t have what I was looking for, they took the initiative and made conversation and found me something to leave with. I would NOT recommend this store.

Nice selection of interesting wines. Did not try the cheeses as I was in a hurry, but the place smelled wonderful. Not a hugh selection of wines, but seemed to be well selected.

I do love cheese but I don’t always know exactly what I’m looking for. The staff here is very knowledgeable and friendly and is willing to let you sample as many cheeses as you’d like while teaching you about each one. I feel it the prices are quite reasonable and the location is very convenient as it is by the corner of Arlington and St. James.

This place is the bomb. Visiting Boston, staying nearby, looking for a late afternoon lunch/​dinner since I had been up since 4:30 am. Got a «bento box» of delicious artisan cheeses, charcuterie, cornichons, olives, fig jam and the most delicious roasted peppers you’ve ever had. Small bites, perfect for sharing. Plus they had really nice locally made chocolates. And a nice wine selection. It’s like they were reading my mind. I want to be them when I grow up.

If you are a wine and cheese lover, this is the spot for you. Tons of different cheeses and wines. You are free to sample as many cheeses as you need before deciding which one to purchase. The people working the cheese station are really nice, friendly and knowledgeable about the product. There are also daily wine tastings which is amazing. Lady working the wine seemed a little grumpy though. If you are not into cheese or wine — like me — they also sell some good beers!

Bacco’s has turned into a Friday ritual that I LOVE. The wine, beer, and cheese selection is incredible. Tastings occur every day except Sunday, and the staff couldn’t be more friendly and happily educate patrons. It’s easy to see that their passion powers the store… I love that they share the belief that fine foods do not need to be pretentious or unapproachable,
Importantly, the staff respects price range– I never feel pressured to buy something that doesn’t feel 100% right.
Special thanks to Michelle, who has taught us so much about cheese. She is wonderful! This place is an absolute Boston gem with an outstanding staff.

Had a great fireside sandwich at Baccos (added lettuce and cheese). My vegetarian friend also enjoyed the mozzarella sandwich. They have great healthy produce. Loved the food and close location to the Public Garden great for a picnic!

This shop has an amazing selection of wines. The knowledgeable and courteous staff suggested several inreresting wines from various regions and within my price point. I was the surprised to find a Pegau cuvee blanc from Chateauneuf du Pape, a rarity. They had a wide range of choices from high-​end to affordable, all offerings vetted by the staff.
The cheese shop was terrific too. I spotted some favorites from Cowgirl Creamery, as well as some new cheeses from smaller producers for the adventurous.
A tip for those visiting, there’s a wine tasting every day between 5−7pm, and if you purchase at least four bottles there’s a 10% discount.

My husband and I are visiting Boston and were directed here by the concierge. Staff were really helpful and knowledgeable about the local brews. Highly recommend. Have fewer beer choices but we were happy with the selection.

I was on the Taza Chocolates website and saw that Bacco’s sells their chocolates, so I checked it out. I’m here visiting for a few days, so I figured I’d bring chocolate back to my family and coworkers. I really wish they had a Bacco’s where I live. I love wine and cheese, and this place seems to have it all. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. And they did have quite a bit of Taza Chocolates, so I got the gifts I was looking for.

Get the sandwich special! Excellent opportunity to try a variety of meats and cheeses. It’s the perfect place to get food, and then head to the Boston Public Gardens and enjoy it.

such a great find! my coworkers and i have gone here a few times to get wine and beer, and i love it every time. every single staff member has been so polite, helpful, and friendly, and they have an interesting selection of wine and beer in addition to all of the cheeses, jams, and other speciality food items.
there are a lot of wines to choose from, and i appreciate the wide price range. it’s easy to find a delicious variety for less than $ 10, but there are also many nicer, high-​end wines as well. the staff members seem to clue in on the price range that i might be looking in, and don’t push bottles that are outside of where i was initially looking.
i also think the cheese is amazing, so fresh and flavorful, and there are always little samples to try. i definitely am planning on trying a sandwich soon, or going to the speciality food store that they sponsor next door.
if you are in the back bay and want a great selection of wine, beer, cheeses, breads, and jams for your next cocktail hour, this is the place to go.

Don’t give people their wine in brown paper bags when it’s pouring out because the bag will give out and all their money will be spilled on St. James Street in a busy intersection.
Also, they only had 1 pinot noir under $ 20. Good cheese though, and their white wine selection was a lot better than their red in terms of affordable.

Close to work, knowledgeable staff, great wine, superb beer selection, it doesn’t get much better than this.
The staff here will take any piece of information and turn it into a great recommendation for a product you would have never considered. My piece of advice is simple, don’t trust your gut, just trust the staff at Bacco’s and you will never be disappointed.
