I finally had a chance to stop in, and found this to be in no way, shape, or form an average fabric store. I suppose the name and the fact that it is on Charles Street surrounded by antique stores should have given it away, but this store intends to exist only for curtains and upholstery, I think. Everything is priced accordingly. And if what you are looking for is stuff fit for an Empire drawing room, say no more. Go here now. On the other hand, if you are only a lowly crafter, there’s also a rather large section near the door — taking up about a third of the floorspace, while another third is occupied by couches and fabric samples — of sale fabric that looks permanent, some of which was 50% off or more. Since they don’t sell less than a yard, this was still out of my project budget, but it meant $ 60/yd silk and other good stuff for $ 20, and all of it was clearly Quality — and possibly already«discounted» at $ 60, if the surplus means anything. The help was also extremely sweet considering I asked to see the cheapest aqua-colored thing in the store after wandering openly aimlessly for half an hour within an hour of closing, pawing everything in sight, while eavesdropping on the breastfeeding socialites at the coffee tables. Speaking of which, even if you have no earthly purpose for anything sold here, the other customers’ conversation alone is(worth) a trip.
