Crazy Dough’s Pizza

Nice ambiance and menu. Pizza was not very good, pretty oily and «off» in flavor. The toppings were plentiful, but not very flavorful. We were given mixed reviews prior to going, but gave it a shot. Waitress was nice, but rushed. we visited for the weekend, so we were looking for something w/​a «wow-​factor».

Pizza was great, the portions were HUGE! One slice was bigger than my face lol, the bottom was crispy and cheesy was perfectly melted. Pepperoni one was a bit too salty but overall, amazing pizza. The service is not that great though, didn’t seem that friendly.

I really like the variety of this place. The first time I ate here, I had a lot of trouble deciding what to order because all of the pizzas on display looked so good! I ended up settling with the bacon potato cheddar slice which was loaded with flavor and tasted incredible. In addition, it had a thick but crispy crust which I really enjoyed. I also had the classic cheese slice which also tasted good. Both slices were massive and well-​worth the price.
I’ve tried for years to find New York caliber pizzas in Boston, to no avail. I’m glad I found Crazy Dough’s, because it definitely stacks up as far as variety, quality, and quantity-​for-​price.

Their pizza is good, but it isn’t anything special. I do like the crust, but I’ve had better. For me, it is a little out of the way, and there are better places close by, (places on Newbury street), so it may be a while before I go back. If you are close by and are craving pizza, then it certainly isn’t a bad place to go. It’s good for groups and kids.

I got pizza and a calzone here once an it was literally the greasiest calzone I’ve ever had. Even the cheese pizza tasted weird. Idk what kind of sauce they used but it was not a good pizza. If you’re looking for pizza there are many other stores around the area, any of them are easily better than crazy doughs.

Remarkably pricey IMO, but decent specialty slices, and filling (the no alcohol without food is apparently a mandated sign that isn’t /​wasn’t always enforced).

The management here is bad. And their Level Up has never worked the times i’ve gone in. I would not count on it operating if I were a customer, which i am not any longer. The pizza? Mediocre.

This is the best pizza I’ve ever had. The dough is incredible and they have really creative and flavorful toppings.
It’s a little more expensive than average take out pizza but worth it. My favorite pizza is the nutty Tuscan (pine nuts, goat cheese dried tomatoes, …)

Pretty good pizza. It’s certainly the best pizza within walking distance of Northeasern University. They really use good ingredients and the crust is nice and thin. They also have a wide variety of toppings.

I am so glad I live within walking distance of this place because I plan on getting takeout again and again.
I called in an order of two personal pizzas: meat lover’s and Tuscan tomato basil. I was so surprised that I was able to select the crust type and cooking style of the pizza. Who does that? They just let you pick between fire grilled and brick oven. Though it’s INSANITY to let the customer determine such things– I’m happy I was given the choice!
Ok, so on to the eating part. When you go the fire grilled option– be aware that the stone ground wheat crust will be pretty crunchy. The flavors were so good I didn’t mind, but I did feel extra conscious about the volume at which I was chewing. My companions didn’t seem to mind though. This was less of an issue with the white crust. If you like veggie pizzas at all, you must try the Tuscan tomato basil. The ricotta and caramelized onions interacted really well with the juicy roasted red peppers. I will definitely be getting it again. In comparison, the meat lovers topping looked a little lackluster. The toppings weren’t dispersed well and too much crust was left empty. Overall flavors would appease a meat lover though.

First order: nutty tuscan personal pizza. Delicious! Said to myself, I should order from here again soon.
Soon arrived. Second order: veggie calzone. Picked it up, got home, opened it up, and first problem was there was no side of marinara as listed on the menu. OK, not walking back over there, so I started eating. Disgusting. A few limp mushrooms and soggy eggplant were the only «veggies.» The calzone was 70% dough, 25% cheese (way too much cheese! and I love cheese!) and 5% (I’m being generous) «veggies.»
Don’t think I’ll be back.

I have had this pizza a couple of times now. They have some interesting flavors, including a very spicy pepperoni pizza that I enjoyed, but nothing is extraordinary.
I like that they branch off from the normal pizza toppings, but don’t find the crust and toppings combination particularly tasty.
Overall, this place serves up some decent pizza, but nothing I’d go out of my way for.

I’ve been ordering delivery from Crazy Dough’s for years. I’m a fan of their Supreme signature pizza. Tonight I custom-​made a pizza through their new online ordering system for the first time. It was awesome. You can specify what toppings you want on each half (If you’re like me and can never choose just one pizza), with extra toppings at $ 1 a piece. They have a gluten-​free 10″ pizza for those who are interested. On the not-​so-​gluten-​free end, they also have PBR and a craft beer on tap, along with assorted bottled beers. Pitchers for $ 9 are a great deal.

Good pizza but overpriced. Baked potato pizza probably their best.
Better off getting a calzone for 7.50. The chicken parm calzone was very good.

We stopped in on the way to a Red Sox game for a quick snack to hold us over. Our choice was the potato and bacon pizza. It was good, but could have been a little better for the «artisanal» slice. Service and atmosphere was good. They seemed to have a nice beer selection.
I might try it again if in the area.

I love the artisan pizza. My favorite is the Reuben. The crust is awesome, buttery and crunchy. The sliced pizzas aren’t bad either, very flavored. If you have the pru card, you get 10%.

THE best artisan pizza by the slice. Ever! I had a slice that had figs, wafer thinly sliced prosciutto, smidge of blue cheese & a delicious drizzle of sauce I can’t even describe (soy based?). Wish they had one of these in Nor Cal.

Twice in a row, my friend and I have received really burnt, dry, and small garlic knots. The first time, we brought them back and the cook told us that «that is just how they are.» He would not make us new ones and just added more garlic powder to them. Then today, we had the same problem. Probably won’t be back to this location! I will be posting a picture of the pathetic knots.

Ah. Crazy doughs is a nice place to relax at the end of the day. Pizza. Beers. Service staff are friendly enough. It’s a cozy little place, great for a few or a larger group up to 10, I suppose. As long as they aren’t too crowde
Foccacia base pizzas are my faaaave since the thin slice just makes me realize how oily what I’m eating is.

We had a personal roasted portobello and goat cheese personal pizza and a slice of BBQ chicken and a slice of supreme. The roasted portobello and goat cheese pizza was heavenly, melt-​in-​your-​mouth goodness. The crust was perfect. Did it take a while for the pizzas to come because there was group who came in right before us and some take-​out orders were being prepared. The BBQ chicken and supreme were slices that were already made and were just warmed up. They were exactly as you would expect them to be. Very reasonably priced for this area. Although not a lot of ambience, the food satisfied the tummy.

Crazy Dough is my go to pizza place. I always get the“gourmet-ish” Sicilian slices over the regular cheese, pepperoni, etc. and they are delicious! I might even go so far as to say the best pizza in Back Bay.
The only issue with Crazy Dough is that you really have to go at the right time. My favorites (I forgot the names, but one has potato and bacon and another is more Mediterranean-​style) always seem to go quick, which is a little disappointing.
When I can get them though, they are fantastic, as always. Service is excellent, as well. Everyone I’ve encountered here has been pleasant and patient, even when I ask them to go into detail about each of the pizza options.
