I was referred to Dr. Townsend by a friend of mine who had eyelid surgery done by him. She told me he also did some cosmetic work, and I went to see him for Botox and fillers. The first session cost me $ 800 for one and a half tubes of filler and 20 units of Botox. He was okay as far as personality went at that time. While I was mostly happy with the Botox results(he had to hit a lid again as it was not even with the other), I was not happy with the results of the filler. The area I was most concerned about was still no different. I went back to him, bringing a friend of mine who also got work done at tha time, netting him an additional $ 400 from her. When I expressed my concern about this area looking no different, he snapped at me and yelled«I can’t make you look 10 years younger… what do you want from me??» My friend and I were both stunned. Horrible professional behavior. THAT cost me an additional $ 200, for more filler and the insults and unprofessional behavior, which I guess were at no additional charge. I consulted someone else very knowledgable within this field and was told Dr. Townsend was putting filler in the wrong area to get the results I was looking for. He had put so much filler around my mouth, I was told NOT to do anything else for another 6 – 9 months until the filler was absorbed sufficiently. What a total nightmare. I looked freakish for about a month, was massively bruised, and couldn’t smile or move my mouth comfortably for months. Suffice to say, I do not recommend him for this work nor will I be going back.

I have been wanting to review Dr. Townsend for a while and I suppose it’s about time. To put it bluntly, Dr. Townsend has saved both my life and my eyesight. Literally. I was diagnosed with a very rare, cancerous tumor behind my left eye at the age of 13. Dr. Townsend performed the(more complicated than expected) surgery to remove the tumor and we have been BFF’s ever since. Or something like that. I have read many reviews on other sites(doctor sites) about him and believe me, I know the good and the bad. I am, or rather, was, his youngest patient and despite having kids himself, I would not call him a kid person. He is direct, to the point, and extremely professional. I was also one of the most obnoxious patients in the world, given that there was a time in my life that I would whine and cry if he even tried to put eye drops in my eye, and he dealt with me the same way he would a 50 year old man — suck it up, it needs to be done. He has since then performed numerous other surgeries and procedures on me, all in the hopes of saving my eyesight. We still hang out once a year or so when he checks up on me(which he will go out of his way and come in on days off to do) and gives me free eye drops(no more crying since I have to do it to myself about a half a dozen times a day). He is very often behind in schedule and his answering service can be a pain in the ass to deal with, making it almost impossible to make an appointment. BUT, if you can nail him down, he absolutely knows more about eyes than any of the other 500 doctors I saw before him and he is great at what he does. No one else touches my eyes and because of that, I still have vision in my left eye. I’m just waiting for the terrible day he tells me I need glasses(I look really bad in glasses).
