Huge thanks to Frank who came to my rescue after the water was shut off in my building and the stem broke in valve… leaving me with no water. Frank arrived the following morning, analyzed the issue and sent me pics of the completed job while I was at work. Timely, efficient and doesn’t rip you off.

So… I’m rewriting this review. unfortunately, I would give 5 stars usually but Frank has slipped through a couple of appointments in the last couple of months. He used to respond right away for a job that I called him for but I’ve gotten a strike 2 of him not returning calls and telling me he can make it to an appointment but cancel at the last minute. I was annoyed at first but he finally called me back. He was never like this before so I was surprised.
Good thing about Frank is that he won’t just charge you just to show up like the other companies. Later on, he actually explained to me about his situations of why he wasn’t able to come through and it was actually legitimate reasons. We all have off days from life consequences, so all in all, he is legitimate, hard worker and charges much less than other pricey places.

Just wanted to add an updated review. We decided to replace the boiler in our home as it was original to our house that was built in 1938. Frank gave us a very fair price and his schedule worked with ours. He even made us aware of incentives being offered by Mass Save. We have been very pleased with Frank’s work and his professionalism.

Frank showed up in person the same day we called, he was professional and courteous. Unfortunately, we should have reminded him to extensively test the connections for leaks. When we called him he came back immediately, did more than one test and refused to take any money for the job. Will recommend

I don’t get how this company has all great reviews! We have gas leak in one of the pipes. After reading all these positive reviews we called Gomes plumbing heating and cooling. We left 2 voicemails and two days later no response!!! In the second voicemail we asked the guy to at least call us back even if they can’t take care of the issue, at least to let us know that they are busy or something. No response! Don’t waste your time. They don’t care. Gas leak is the serious issue but not for these guys I guess!

OK, while I’m writing Unilocal reviews tonight, I really need to give Frank an overdue 5-​star rating. You never really appreciate a true professional until you’ve had to deal with a total hack, which I’ve done. (I am through with home warranty programs that don’t give you any say in who provides your service!) I had my house go cold on one of our sub-​zero mornings, and after a guy who we used and liked before said he was booked solid for the day, I found Frank on Unilocal.He came over within a couple of hours and pinpointed the problem.
A couple of weeks later, I noticed a persistent leak from the boiler. Again, I called Frank, and he came by a couple of days later since it was not an emergency. He fixed the issue and was not going to charge me, but I insisted on paying him at least a service fee.
Frank is friendly, knowledgeable, fair and responsive. When you call him, you’re getting his direct line. I wish I had hired him to install our boiler and central AC instead of the guy I gave 2 stars to. I highly recommend him and will probably have him come back to fix some of the shoddy work that was done previously.

Frank was excellent. Had an issue with HVAC system in South Boston. Came over the next day and fixed everything within a hour. Very reasonably priced… He even came back with a spare part that our system required before the end of the day, FREE OF CHARGE. I would highly recommend him!

I have owned my condo for a little over 2 years and both the summers I’ve spent here, I have had issues with my central AC. I have had 4 or 5 different companies come out to look at the system and my experience has ranged from them telling me I just need to change the filter (which I do on a regular basis) to telling me I have to replace my entire system (involving a crane and closing down my entire street with police detail for a whole day). I finally called Frank at Gomes Plumbing and Heating and we set up an appointment for the very next day to come out and look at the system. He was able to find the issue in very little time and charged me a fraction of what the others had been trying to charge me. I was so pleased with the work he did and the service I got that I’ve told all of my friends who are home/​condo owners in the area to call Frank!
A few months after Frank fixed my AC (which is working wonderfully now!) my garbage disposal broke. Again, Frank was able to come over to fix it the very next day. I would recommend Gomes Plumbing and Heating to absolutely everyone and plan to use Frank for ALL of my plumbing/​cooling/​heating needs in the future.

I was getting a new stove delivered & needed the gas shut off on Friday & new stove delivered on Sat. My regular plumber did not get back to me. I saw the great reviews about Gomes plumbing & decided to call him on Fri around 9am. Frank answers the phone right away. I told him my situation & he agreed to come over & help me. My old stove has not been moved in over 25years! It was extremely difficult to move. Frank kept at it for me until he could finally move it! About a half hour or move. Frank found the pipe leading to the stove was lying on the ground. He used his great skills & imagination to figure out how to add a new line & a turn off valve! I was very impressed & very happy! The new stove arrived & Frank came back on Sat to hook it up. He also hooked up our new hood for our new stove. And that was also challenging removing the old one! Yuck.
Frank was awesome! Very calm & personable. I cannot say enough about how much I appreciated his skills!

Frank Gomes is the best plumber around and I am so lucky to know him!!! When we called him first thing in the morning (not knowing what our problem exactly was), he did not even hesitate but came by our house in 20 minutes. Since our building is not constructed very well (we happen to have alot of issues in general), he pin-​pointed our problem right away (we had a water leak coming from the dish waher: it wasn’t the dishwasher nor the garbage disposal that had a problem but it was a plumbing direction issue). He has fixed the problem afterwards and pretty much told us that we don’t owe him anything for today. I couldn’t believe how he was like «don’t worry about it. we are neighbors!» He is such a kind man and such a rare find in such society that we live in. We of course tipped him at least because we don’t believe in having him leave without any pay. He also works on weekends as well and very friendly. I will not call anyone else for plumbing issue!!!

We called Gomes because of the good reviews on Unilocal.He was super efficient. It was afternoon when our water heater broke. Frank was on another job and said to send a photo of our water heater and its plate (with the model number on it.) Frank and his crew showed up around 6 pm as promised, with the same brand of new heater, installed it rapidly, and cleaned up. His price was $ 500 less than another local company I had phoned.
What more could you ask.

I had issues w a hot water tank and didn’t have a plumber. I came to Unilocal to find a plumber w good reviews. So I called Frank — we set up a time the next morning to meet. He diagnosed the problem, spent about 30 min on the phone trying to get a new hot water tank thru warranty, but it ended up being out of warranty. He was able to replace the tank with a new one in about 3 hours. Called me along the way asking if it was ok that the tank he was getting was a different color… not that I cared, but he took the time to check just in case. He took the old tank away and cleaned up nicely. He is a stand up guy — is very knowledgable, gave me several alternatives to the problem and did exactly what he said he was going to do. I am thankful I found a plumber in the area. I will absolutely be calling him with any plumbing or ac/​heat issues. Thank you Frank!

Quick, responsive, and reliable plus fairly priced. Not much more you can ask for in a plumber.

Called Gomes Plumbing mainly after reading such great reviews from Unilocal.I am not disappointed. I had a gas leak from a faulty gas valve, I shut the gas line to the furnace. Frank called me back and stated he would be out the next day. Frank came onsite late afternoon which was very convenient for folks that work. He quickly confirmed the issue and would purchase the part and be back the next day. I felt so confident with his service that I gave him a deposit and basement key so that he can service the unit while I was at work. While I was at work he called and stated he was all set and would meet me after work to settle up. We met at the property, I quickly inspected the work which was top notch. He cleaned my furnace as instructed and adjusted the pilot flame. I told Frank I would be a loyal and returning customer.

We needed our heater fixed (it’s February!) and Frank was able to schedule us right away, showed up on time, was friendly and professional, and fixed the problem in less than 30 minutes. Can’t ask for more than that!

I called Frank to replace a hot water tank on my triple decker home, he told me he will be at my house in 20 minutes to replace it. Frank was here on time and swapped out the tank for a new one. Frank even went out of his way to fix some other issues i had from a different plumbers mickey mouse work. He is very professional and will always call him back for any plumbing work i have in the future. I highly recommend him. Thanks again Frank.

Frank and Manny were just the plumbers we were looking for. We needed a new shower faucet installed, and he was at our house within 2 hours on a Saturday. He explained the options clearly, and his prices were fair and much better than some other quotes we had received over the phone. He had the whole job done in 2 hours. He even offered to come back and install new trim. Guys like this are the reason I use Unilocal — would highly recommend.

Our first floor heat (forced hot water) was not getting above 60 degrees. We called Frank in the morning and he and Manny were at our house by 5:30 pm that day. He did not charge a fee to look at our problem (the other plumbers were used in the past charged $ 50 or more just to come out). He checked the returns on our boiler and it was running hot, but he could tell that the baseboards were not as hot as they should be. He changed out the old thermostat for a digital one. The first floor is now heating correctly. His price was relatively fair and he did not charge an after hours fee (although it was after 5 pm). We also appreciated using a locally owned (Dorchester) small business.

My heater did not work and it was starting to get pretty cold at night. Based on other Unilocal reviews I called Gomes Heating. Frank came out THAT night @ 6 PM and within about 1 hour my heater was working. He also checked out my garbage disposal too. His fee was VERY competitive! I need to call him again to help me install my W&D. I would recommend that Frank identify his business on his v-​mail greeting. I call a couple of time and left messages and wasn’t sure I really had a business v-​mail or someone’s personal v-​mail.

I had a very easy plumbing issue and wanted to replace my kitchen faucet but didn’t have the proper tools (or time to be honest). After a «Yelp» search I called Gomes and he came out within 2 hours. Frank and Griff were at my place and had the issue fixed fast. I’d use them again if needed.
