Gordon’s Fine Wines & Liquors – Boston

The two men who were staffed tonight were insanely helpful and let us sample some liquor before making our choices; a very boutique-​ey feel. They had a great selection with good prices for a liquor store in downtown crossing and I would absolutely recommend stopping by!

Since moving to Boston from the comparatively-​dry state of PA, we’ve been giddy with excitement nearly every time we walk into a wine shop in the city. As one of my friends put it: «it’s like whisky Christmas!» Well, if that’s the case, the north pole may very well be Gordon’s DTX.
I’ve never been to Gordon’s other locations, but their new store in Downtown Crossing is beautiful; both as a space, and in selection. Clean, organized, and stocked full of an impressive range of wine, bourbons, Scotch, etc. Their selection has the potential to be overwhelming if not for their incredibly knowledgeable and approachable staff. On our last visit, a brief conversation with their whisky guy, Ken, became an hour or so of discussing and tasting whiskey. An hour well spent for us, and for them, as we ultimately purchased a hefty little haul for the home collection. The fact that the staff is willing to answer all/​any questions, seek input from customers, and really put in the extra effort to establish their base customers says a lot about how Gordon’s has been successful enough to expand to the city. Looking forward to stopping in for a Wednesday tasting at some point, as well!
With great, attentive service, a broad selection, and prices that are on par with other shops in town, I can’t think of a single reason to not recommend Gordon’s if you’re in search of something old, new, special, or common. They’ll likely have what you’re looking for. Cheers!

Great addition to downtown crossing. Excellent craft beer selection. I was helped by a very helpful shorter man who seemed to know everything about anything when it came to beer.

Fantastic selection of excellent and rare wines, liquors and a huge variety of craft beers in a tastefully decorated almost Scandinavian designed space. There were wine tasting/​by the glass stations which we didn’t take advantage of but that looked fun too. Great staff who were very helpful and knowledgeable.

It was quite surprsing how quietly this place opened in the heart of Downtown Crossing. Me & my finaceé always observed that there were no business to purchase adult beverages in the area & how odd it was especially with the all the public transportation traffic walking about. Now with the new boom of Downtown Crossing the introduction of this Waltham institution just makes so much sense. They also brought products from another Waltham powerhouse, Moody’s Delicatessen & Provisions, to Boston. Their is current a selection of pre-​packaged sandwiches & they are hoping to expand the offerings.
Maybe it is the fresh new store smell but the store is incredibly clean with nice lines of fresh wood & metal. The incredible wine selection is the 1^st thing you encounter & there are space aged dispensers that lined the walls to offer a wine sample for anyone who was interested. Next is a selection of fine spirits from many local & national brands plus they are hosting weekly whiskey Wednesdays. Glass fronted fridges line the back of the store & offers a very nice selection of craft beers which is what I came in for. After picking up a 22oz of one of the last offereings from Pretty Things Beer I was meet by an extremely helpful staff member that filled me in to what the store had to offer. He also informed me that more events will be ramping up soon. I am excited to have such a high quality business available to me & I hope to visit here soon to find out what else they have to offer. They signed me up for their newsletter at check out & from everything I saw they are off to a great start. Welcome to Boston folks!

Fantastic selection and super knowledgeable staff. I went in there for the first time last night and picked up a few bottles of beer and a bottle of bourbon. Very reasonably priced and the service from both employees was second to none. Highly recommend.
