I was looking for a gyno because I was new to boston and needed to get a doctor. I went there for my annual womens exam in October 2014. Now April 2015 I receive a bill for over $ 300. I was very confused because my insurance covers (like any other) a yearly exam along with a general practioner exam. They put me into as new patient and has a medical visit because I put in my medical history that I have PCOS. Am I suppose to be screwed over because of my medical history. Such b.s. I have never in my 15 years of going into a gyno have I ever been charged for an annual exam. Be careful if you go to Mass General because they will put in differnt medical codes for not the reason that you there for and get charged up the ass. The doctor was really nice, too bad I will never go to this hospital again in fear of giving them my medical history you will be penalized.

The gynecologists at this practice (I’ve seen two of them) are FANTASTIC. Knowledgeable, kind, non-​judgmental, and genuine. I would not hesitate to go to this facility were it not for the staff, who are borderline incompetent and often rude. Phone calls are not returned; appointments that are supposed to be scheduled are not, and there is too often confusion regarding who is supposed to do what. My doctor advised me that she would note my file as «urgent» so that someone would call me to schedule a medical appointment without delay. Two weeks later, no one had, so I called them. No one seemed to know anything about my «urgent» appointment and I was transferred a few times, finally getting my original doctor’s nurse who had to go talk to the doctor to figure out what was going on. This nurse then advised me to call another number to schedule my appointment (another department, apparently?) The person I called, however, did not want to schedule the appointment because she didn’t have a referral from my doctor. ARGH. I finally got the whole situation sorted out, got my appointment, and then about three weeks later SOMEONE ELSE called on behalf of my doctor saying that I was supposed to have scheduled my «urgent» appointment (which by that time had been scheduled). Scary to think that a MEDICAL office is so disorganized and confused. I also object to reception staff, who are curt and seem to not enjoy dealing with patients, and the waiting room that has no reading materials. I object to scheduling an appointment with my doctor only to arrive and be told that my doctor isn’t working that day, and I will be seeing another doctor (without the courtesy of a phone call??? That’s just disrespectful). I’m concerned that my last annual exam was more than a year ago, and I have not received any reminder to have another annual exam. I’m concerned that when I try to schedule or cancel an appointment, I get transferred at least once and all too often get someone’s voice mail. This practice desperately needs someone to better manage and coordinate the staff. I wish the doctors at this practice well, but I will not be returning as a patient.
