Raymond Personal Tailor

I have my oversized suit & blazer for alteration at Raymond. Originally both my suit & blazer were 44S, while I’m 40S. The result is superb, despite the works needed for cutting 4 inches down. Furthermore, Daniel delivered exceptional customer service and very friendly. Their works are to be commended.

I’ve been going to Raymond for year for general tailoring. I started buying directly from him after he had to fix a Hugo Boss suit that the Bloomingdale’s tailor butchered three times. I now buy my suits exclusively from Raymond, because it’s hard to beat the value with the quality of his suits — especially when on sale — coupled with the included expertly tailoring, it’s quite the bargain. Raymond and Trish always know my style and will often call me when a new suit that just came in that might match what I want. I tend to buy suits in these instances when I wasn’t even planning to.
I would never go anywhere else for my tailoring needs.

I’ve been meaning to write this review since I last visited Raymond in the spring of 2013. After mediocre experiences with other custom suit shops, I stopped into Raymond’s. Raymond and his wife are delightful people, but the product left much to be desired. I elected to purchase a few suits and Raymond did the rest. However, after 3 turns of the garments, my trousers were still too baggy and my jackets didn’t fit much better than if I had pulled them off the rack.

I have bought 3 suits from Raymond and all 3 times my experience has been exceptional.
2 other suits I bought from other companies I’ve brought to Raymond to have him taylor them. Hands down the tailoring I’ve ever had done for my clothes. I highly recommend Raymond to anyone looking for a new suit or tailoring needs.

No reason to go anywhere else in Boston.

I just bought my first bespoke suit from Raymond. I was nervous as to what to expect but Raymond and Trish soon put me at ease with their expert knowledge and advice. From start to finish the whole experience has been excellent and their service is really beyond what should be expected. The suit fits perfectly and excellant quality. Looking forward to my next suit (already ordered) from Raymond.

The ONLY reason I’m writing this review is because I didn’t even make it in the door, nor would I recommend any of my friends go here. Notice the gay-​friendly flag on their website? Note that this doesn’t mean they are actually gay-​friendly, women friendly or queer friendly. First, he assumed over the phone that I am a woman and would be marrying a man. Second, when I said it was for me, he said curtly… we don’t make suits for ladies. I barely got a word in before I was off the phone.
A few problems here:
We’re on the phone which means you don’t see me, so why don’t you wait and find out what I’m looking for before you assume.
Try not assuming I’m gay or straight or anything. Just listen.
Lastly, you mean to tell me that as a 5 star rated tailor, you can’t make a «men’s» suit for any body type? You must not be that good.
You lost a couple grand on me.

First, I apologize for the delay in getting an update on here. Second, Raymond seems like a nice person and we had a good, honest, productive conversation about this exchange. I stand by what I said that if you are a gender queer person, or a woman, looking for a men’s suit, this is probably not the place for you. I also stand by my feeling that friendliness goes a long way and a simple «that’s not our specialty, you should call…» would have been a great alternative at first, but only offered on our second conversation. I’m changing my rating mostly because I appreciated Raymond’s efforts and although I can’t speak to the quality of his work either way and I probably never will. Lastly, I ended up going to 9Tailors and they have been really great with this process. I would have preferred working with a local tailor one-​on-​one but this is what I have to work with.

Fantastic tailor. Had my last 3 suits taken there and have never had something fit so well. He’s quick too. Usually you can have it by whenever you need it. Looking eventually to buy a bespoke suit from him.

Raymond is absolutely amazing. I found a new wedding dress about a month before my wedding. It fit just about right, but it needed to be hemmed. It had a lace overlay with a beautiful scalloped bottom that was going to be difficult to keep due to the way the dress was made. Raymond found a way to keep the bottom and still hem the dress, and the dress was ready with time to spare before the wedding.
Raymond and his wife make you feel very comfortable, and couldn’t be more kind.
Don’t waste your time on any other tailor!

Raymond is your only option in Boston for properly tailored men’s suits.
I brought two to him recently, one of which had been previously tailored, and he made each fit properly. This is no easy task. If you really know how a suit is supposed to fit, you will realize that most tailors don’t get it right. Raymond is Saville Row trained, which is all you really need to know. Trust me, I’m very very picky about clothes, and especially suits. if you are considering anyone else, don’t — there is absolutely no one better in this city. I am sure that given his talents and training, Raymond is just as good with all other clothes too. He’s super friendly and professional too.
I tried 4 or 5 other tailors before finding Raymond, and they are levels below him. It’s like comparing a little league baseball player to a pro. This is a classy operation and the only question is whether you are good enough for him, not the other way around. What I mean by that is that he is an artisan, and I hope if you go to him you respect his superior training and skills.

I bought a suit last week from Raymond, and it was the easiest time I’ve had buying clothes anywhere — he figured out exactly what he had on the rack that would fit right and the price was right. He hemmed up the pants and made a few more minor alterations and it fit perfectly. It was also ready exactly on time. I wore it last night and felt great.
I absolutely trust Ray with any clothing I bring him and wish I needed to buy more suits so I could give him more business.
He has a decent selection of suits on his rack, but his specialty is full bespoke. If you have the cash to go that route, go see Raymond.
