Nice neighborhood bar. I’ve only gone here for drinks and found it pretty nice.

Went here after the Charles St stroll. Excellent dirty martini, excellent tater tots, luke warm chilli that was saved by reheating — very tasty.

I just wish I didnt eat there. Tough chicken wings, bad buns, tasteless burger. I would not recommend and I would definitely not go again.

It was the bar next to my hotel. We had a great time there for the 5 days we were in town. Amazing Mac and cheese. Bartenders were great, and I made friends with locals. Everything I wanted in a bar close to my hotel.

Great food– I had beef stew, and good selection of beefs and friendly service. Good local pub. I was happy to find this place

I recently moved to the West End and have been trying out new places in the area. I’ve tried The Hill Tavern a few times now for different meals and it’s always just okay. On a positive note it has a fun atmosphere, I love the location and if you’re looking for a place to drink, this place is fun… but the food is just typical bar food that is a tad bit overpriced.

There aren’t a ton of good breakfast-brunch places in Beacon Hill, especially when it comes to laying low and avoiding a crowd. If you’re looking for a reasonably priced meal in the heart of Boston, and the people you’re with are so much fun that atmosphere doesn’t matter, this place is perfect. Enough variety of food/drinks and a reliable/friendly wait staff make this a place I’d consider in the future.

Husband and I popped in here Saturday to grab a beer and a bite after wandering around the city a while. It’s a little divey, there is a LOT of dark wood happening throughout the bar, but I thought the staff was super nice and our snacks were decent. They even had one of my favorite beer’s on tap AND the right glass for it, so that was a nice surprise!

First, The Hill Tavern place does NOT have wifi available. They tell you to use the Starbucks wifi next door, which doesn’t work. Someone needs to update the business attributes(I couldn’t figure out how to do so.) Second, their service is sub-par. I came in around 2pm on a weekday, and the primary waiter on the floor seemed shocked(shocked!) that I wanted a table for one. «Just you?» Geez, thanks idiot. Later, he came to check on me and asked if I wanted anything else. I ordered another beer. Immediately(after I order), he tells me he actually just wants to close out my existing tab because they’re changing shifts, and he’ll send someone over to take my drink order. Dude, tell me that upfront. And of course, he never sent anyone over. The waitress who finally did stop by my table took at least 30 minutes to do so. I was hoping to grab a beer and work on my computer. I did a little of both, but be prepared for crappy service and no wifi. The music may(or may not) be up your alley, but it’s worth mentioning since it’s loud: Blink 182, Goo Goo Dolls, Eagle-Eye Cherry, Third Eye Blind, etc.

Veggie burger was good Tater Tots in stead of fries were great… Had the Cobb salad with grilled chicken though I thought the portion of the salad was on the small side. A little bigger than a side salad, but still good. They have outside seating that was nice, the inside was your typical bar And nothing fancy.

The food is good! The location is good. I recommend the clam chowder, the salmon taco and the meat lover pizza

Food very good. We had a party of ten and all the food came out together — and still warm. Service was good not great. The menu had a wide variety so had something even for picky eaters. The have a nice outside eating area but doesn’t accommodate a large party.

So i walked in on the night of the Wisconsin vs Arizona NCAA game. I asked bartender if they were gonna put it on. He said he could look for it. I said«TBS». Then I was there for the next 3 hours. The 4th star is for their receptiveness and immediate response to change the channel. I had a Blue Point which was very tasty and the chili tater tots. In general I agree with reviews that the appetizers here area good. It’s a good basic neighborhood joint that serves a mix of the hospital/beacon hill yuppies and tourists. It’s been a great easy choice for me to meet out of towners and I prefer this joint to others on either side along Cambridge St.

$ 5 appetizers on weekdays 4 – 6 p.m. I’m there. Quite a bit actually as this place has great food, friendly service, and happily sits near my home on my evening commute’s route. A good beer list as well, though it rarely seems to reflect what they actually have on tap. I’ve usually been able to find one pretty decent IPA, though.

Similar to the other reviewers, this tavern is a decent option. They have a good beer selection, Boston prices, ok service and a busy bar on weekends. Somehow we landed a table for three for just drinks later in the night. Maybe the turnover is pretty quick. We probably spent about an hour here before heading home.

Standard bar. I think everyone else has done a pretty good write up on this place. Basically, the beers are good. They have a lot on tap. The food is.ok. The atmosphere is decent. The bartenders are very friendly and down to Earth. I wouldn’t go out of my way to drink here but if I was in the neighborhood I would stop in.

Good spot to grab a couple pints after work. Nice beer list, decently priced and yummy apps. I love places like this where you can walk in and just hang out to have some drinks. No one will be waiting for you to finish or rush you out the door.

Three stars: It is what it is. A tavern that’s ok. Good beer selection. Close to the gahden. Small shots. The Mgh Is nay’er a stones throw away. Mgh T stop is closer. Awesome!

Great spot to catch the game and sample the vast selection of draft beers. Typical bar food, not the best but not the worst. The brunch was surprisingly good(poached eggs served over pulled pork served over tater tots?! YESPLEASE!). I will definitely keep coming here and sampling more of the menu(but mostly the beer). All in all, solid neighborhood spot.

My family and I were looking for a place to grab a quick bite. Most places in the area were either closed(opening for dinner only) or only serving breakfast items(e.g., bacon, eggs, toast, etc). This restaurant was serving brunch but had sandwiches on its brunch menu. Upon entry, a friendly female waitress approached us. The restaurant seems like a great place to grab a beer and watch sports(Wimbledon was on!). However, the service and quality of food was meh.
We placed our takeout order at the bar, which consisted of a BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich and a Crab Cake Sandwich with Sweet Potato Fries. Not only did we wait for 30 minutes, but they also messed up the order. We didn’t realized this until we got back to our place. They gave us steak fries instead of sweet potato fries. The BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich was reasonably priced and delicious. The Crab Cake Sandwich was a bit pricey and there were more vegetable fillers than crab meat. The avocado salsa was not fresh, hence ‘brown in color’. Cocktail Sauce, Mayo or Tar Tar Sauce on the Crab Cake Sandwich would have been a better choice.
