Boulder Outlook Hotel & Suites

Meh… it’s nasty and loud from God only knows what. If it were 50 Bucks or less I’d say ok but it was 90, not worth it for me. The breakfast was pitiful too :-(staff was super nice tho

I travel a lot and tend to stay in two and three star hotels. That being said, the beds in this place were the worst I’ve ever slept in. I love the concept of a «green» hotel but there’s nothing green about terrible beds. Pay a little extra to stay somewhere else, and actually get some decent sleep!

In short… It’s not worth what you pay… PLEASE READ!
We spent a hotel half the price and it was in better condition. In our 1^st room, the toilet was BROKEN, and in our second room, the TV didn’t come in clear on most of the channels. We weren’t offered anything for the trouble we went through in the first room. Sadly, they take advantage of their customers with the given location and competition… I would suggest this hotel to anyone, unless they’re desperate.

I didn’t pick this place. My sister in law reserved a block of rooms here for her destination wedding. I thought my SIL liked me … until I got here. Meanwhile, my SIL is staying elsewhere, for good reason.
My trouble began in the booking process. As an unflagged hotel, the front desk staff answer the reservation calls. I had trouble getting them to understand my name, to correctly take down my credit card number, and getting a confirmation. I was asked at that time if I wanted a pool view room. I said I really didn’t care what my room faced. Apparently this is an important aspect of the reservation process because upon arrival, I was banished to a completely separate building, less up kept than the main building (which isn’t doing so well itself), and with a motel setup. I tried to get a room in the main building, but there weren’t any available due to a football game this weekend.
Our room was rundown, smelly, and unclean. Pulling back the comforter on the bed revealed horribly stained blankets. Don’t know, and don’t want to know what it is.
I totally would have moved had there been a single other room available at any hotel in the area.

Friendly hotel staff.
Free continental breakfast.
Indoor pool/​jacuzzi.
Pet friendly.
Free bike rental.
Close to freeway.
Live music.
Restaurant on site.
Boulder outlook has been very good to us! We had the pleasure of staying here for 4 days /​3 nights. The staff was more than willing to work with us checking in VERY early. Every time they saw us we were greeted.
Free breakfast is from 6:30am — 10am.
Pool hours 9am — 9pm and adults only from 9pm — 10pm.
Can’t wait to stay here again!

There is nothing positive about this hotel outside of the price. A flashback to 1970, the rooms, décor and overall atmosphere have not been updates since then. You walk in to the stale smell of chlorine due to the indoor swimming pool. All rooms inside the main building have no natural light but rather a window overlooking the pool that is inconveniently placed to enable anyone in the hallway to see in. The continental breakfast was mediocre in quality and poor in terms of ambiance as it is set in the hotel bar/​restaurant, which is incredibly dark. Don’t recommend staying here unless you have no other options.

I’m giving this hotel the number of stars it gets on every travel website out there. It’s nothing spectacular. And I hate a lack of hot water in the morning. But this is an ok place. It’s like a flash back into the 70s. The décor, the chair massages offered by the pool, and the ab lounge in the antiquated weight room tastefully add to a 70s motel charm. The staff is super nice. It’s a fairly family heavy crowd.

Really was not impressed. Let us start with driving to the parking lot, the dumpsters are way too full, mattresses were shoved behind them. Walking into the hotel your nostrils are raped with the smell of chlorine, and musty air. The rooms are clean but blah. There isn’t any place to plug in anything unless you want to move things.

I would not even give this one star if there was an option. I booked this hotel online with priceline. Maybe, this is why they gave me such a horrific room. It should not be rented out for any price. I booked a 2.5 star hotel. What a joke. At first glance you can tell it is not a 2.5 star hotel from the paint job they have done outside. I was, of course, not going to judge it on this alone, but once inside the room I was astounded. I first noticed the towel rack in the room was bent in the middle and coming out of the wall. I then went on to notice the counter to the sink was cracked in the corner about 6 inches, an arm chair had it’s arm completely broken off and just hanging. There were water stain on the ceiling in the bathroom. There was rust in the tub from the overflow drain. The holdbacks for the curtains were slates of metal from a hardware store bolted to the wall and the tv had lines and dots all over the screen. No relief from this place… stay away!!!

A very reasonably priced hotel in a good location. Pretty standard inexpensive motel type location. I got this deal through Priceline and it was quite a bargain. The rooms are clean and the plumbing and TV work. The maid cleans the room everyday. I have no complaints.

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel because we are looking to move to Boulder or in close proximity. The hotel is awesome and I love that is it GREEN and environmentally friendly. I love how it has free wifi and how the pool and hot tub are indoor. Also the fact that it is very inexpensive and there is continental breakfast in the morning with many healthy options, and of course a few tasty non healthy options.
I love the fact that the hotel is very close to everything as well and there is an indoor restaurant/bar…the bartender was really friendly as well and was telling us great spots to check out. There was also indoor bouldering to practice and a pool table. This facility also has a sauna and workout room, with a snack machine located next to it and many other great things. I would recommend this hotel to others and I would definitely stay here again if needed.
However, there are a couple of things that my boyfriend and I disliked about this hotel. Such as the customer service at the front desk. They weren’t very friendly or social. Also, two days into our stay I saw a sign at the front desk that says ask about free beer or something along the line of that. So I asked and the girl at the front desk said oh when you check in you have the option of paying an extra .80 cents per day and you don’t leave a carbon footprint, and I was very interested in that and I asked her if I could add it on for all my days, and she told me it was too late because I had already been staying there for two days. I told her but I didn’t know about it, that the front desk didn’t tell me, which made me a little bit upset. Everyone should be informed about this as soon as they check in so they have the option of being more green.
If you aren’t too picky about customer service check this place out!!! We loved it.

Being cheap is the best aspect of this hotel ($ 60). Décor is unsurprisingly very dated. Be aware that if you opt for an outside-​facing room, you have to walk outside to get to your door. A bit nippy to say the least in the winter! Probably not a good idea if you want to use their pool/​hot tub. Inside though is humid and smells a bit of chlorine due to the pool. The walls are thin, so you can hear the muffled sounds of your neighbors speaking (or worse). Free wifi and continental breakfast is nice to have.

Not a bad place, just very very different. There are some low income permanent residents here that make you know that they live here. The breakfast is pretty pathetic, the eggs are hard, bananas are not fresh.
And for them to say internet access is fine, but they should also say it is at dial-​up speed. The even moved me to another room and still internet is almost at a stand still. I can not function at this speed and that makes the trip really bad for me.

Look — this place is fine. If you’re interested in «thinking globally and acting locally» then you should stay here. The staff are super friendly and the jazz/​blues bar is awesome. The rooms aren’t so sound proof but you can get over it.
I’d stay here again for sure.

I got food poisoning from their chicken salad sandwich Saturday night. Wound up in ER — the hotel staff didn’t want to change the bedding. Wouldn’t you go and check a room when someone left by ambulance???
Bed was like a slab of granite. Would NEVER go to this hotel again. They haven’t even responded to my email.

I have heard that Unilocal goes after businesses who do not cooperate by purchasing advertising. That makes me sad, because I really like Unilocal and it’s helped me make some travel/​food/​purchase decisions.
It seems that the Boulder Outlook has apparently gotten on Unilocal’s bad side, because so many of the reviews here do NOT reflect the Outlook Experience! It’s *great*!!
We have stayed here three times and LOVE IT. And others we have spoken to who have stayed/​visited here echo our feelings. The staff is incredible and it’s a wonderful place to visit!
In the interest of brevity so that this post doesn’t turn into a travelogue, I urge you to read some of the positive reviews here about the Outlook. I realize that every hotel has its «bad days,» but the plethora of negativity about this place is quite suspect. It’s really wonderful and in fact–

I bloody love this place. Totally don’t get the negative reviews. Let’s see…
1. Hot tub. HOT TUB.
2. Free wifi (which is still sadly rare in many hotels).
3. Indoor pool with longish hours (9am-​10pm)
4. Attached to a BLUES BAR with good music every (I think) night.
5. Chill staff
6. Cheery primary-​colors color scheme and décor
7. Eco-​friendly.
8. Free loaner bikes.
9. Gym (standard-​hotel-​crappy), sauna (I think), video game room, candy machines, DVD library, 24-​hour free «business center» with a small amount of free printing, basically across the street from CU-​Boulder.
10. Under a hundred bucks a night. UNDER A HUNDRED BUCKS A NIGHT.
Maybe I’m used to more expensive locations. I paid $ 89.00 a night for this place. In 2002, I paid $ 75.00 for a night in a sleazy motel in Long Island frequented by prostitutes. There’s a MOTEL SIX in San Francisco that costs more than this place. I’m pretty sure a place I stayed in Florence that had shared bathrooms still cost more than this place.
For this combination of price and amenities I’d be cool with the front desk staff barging in at 3 am to flog me. Hey, you wanna get some whipping practices? Sure, just so long as I can go in the hot tub afterward and stay here for really cheap. Lay dem lashes on me. It would still be a better deal than any other place I’ve ever stayed.

Blues and Greens is the restaurant/​bar here at the Outlook. This weekend was my first time at this restaurant. There was a great blues night going on, which was a pleasant surprise because really we just went there for a late night meal. The food was excellent also and prices are very very reasonable. I don’t see how any meal with drink could be over $ 10. Really really don’t. People at my table had various burgers, sandwiches and one person had sliders. All liked their food very much. I enjoyed my nachos which were enough to eat some there and bring some home. Good Arnold Palmer drinks too… not too sweet. Friendly and thoughtful waitpeople, and the nice cook even came out to our table to see if we liked our food. As we were leaving I heard others from our group remarking that they wouldn’t mind coming here every Sunday night from now on…

When I arrived the hotel was experiencing a blackout. I was already tired and uphappy from a long day of traveling (and most everything going wrong). The hotel staff seemed a little frazzled, which was understandable considering the conditions. However the staff member I talked to seemed hesitant to offer me a refund or help me with advice to find other hotels in the area. I drove to the Best Western next door to find a room (unfortunately they were booked full) and they seemed perplexed why I had even made a reservation at the Boulder Outlook. The front desk staff member informed me that it was usually the last place they recommend for people when Best Western has no more rooms.
I called a couple days later to discuss my refund with a manager. I experienced some of the poorest customer service I have ever been witness to. The Finance Manager I spoke with informed me that it was my problem because I booked through
and I had to deal with them (perfectly understandable). However she went on to tell me that she would have still stayed at the hotel, regardless if it had power or not. She continued with a number of other completely useless and antagonizing comment. I thanked her for her time and informed her of her poor customer service and that I would never been staying with them again.
Please do not give this hotel your business. It is in a poor location, the staff are unfriendly, and it looked quite unclean from the outside. There are many other better options in Boulder.

My father-​in-​law was nice to get us a hotel to stay at instead of staying with the grandparents so that our grandmother wouldn’t have to feel like she has to serve us hand and foot. He booked this place because it’s near where things are «happening» but I didn’t see much happening. I guess it’s a different mentality here. Also, he was able to get a free night and was able to perform his karaōke on Christmas Eve, so there was a good deal for him as well.
We got there and they told us it used to be a Holiday Inn, which I can see. The layout is a little weird but it’s definitely a motel and not a hotel. We got to our room and it was really outdated, the carpet smelled weird and our sheets didn’t look so great. Nonetheless, we thanks my father-​in-​law and went to bed.
One of the nights we were there, the room next door was smoking weed (granted, it’s a non-​smoking floor!) so we had to inhale that stuff because the smell was coming through the vents! I had to spray the room down with my body spray and turn up the heat to make the smell go away.
This place claims that it’s green but the toilet flushes for a good 5 minutes and uses tons of water. The internet came and went on us every few minutes, the continental breakfast had stale raisin bran but the lucky charms were good (hubby got it), and the hot tub isn’t quite hot enough. We didn’t get to see my father-​in-​law perform on Christmas Eve there but from the sound of it, there was a good turn up. Either way, this hotel, errr, motel was a gift and I guess I just have to say that I am grateful regardless.
