Description

Specialties

I am a Certified Advanced Rolfer and Movement Specialist with 36 years experience. I have trained in Visceral (organ) Manipulation, craniosacral work, nerve work, and trauma work in order to be even more effective in my Rolfing. I occasionally use a low level laser for inflammation, scar tissue, and fractures. I have worked in medical offices most of my career, working with a lot of head injuries, back and neck pain, and scar tissue from surgeries and accidents. I’ve worked a lot with the vast number of athletes in Boulder, as well as dancers and musicians. Occasionally I teach at the Rolf Institute. Most of my clients get significant changes within the 1st session.

I work with clients in a ten-session format as well as «fix-it» sessions and mini series. Together we design what works for your situation. Please call for a free consultation.

History

Established in 1979.

Before becoming a Certified Rolfer in1979, I lived in Taiwan for a year studying Mandarin. I also had a powerful healing experience there with acupuncture, which sparked my interest in alternative healing techniques. I decided to try Rolfing because I had a very extreme lordosis (sway back). The result was I gained over an inch in height when the forward tilt of my pelvis became more vertical. Everyone thought I had lost a lot of weight but it was simply my spine having the length it was designed to have. I looked better and emotionally felt more solid and «comfortable in my skin».

I love working one-to-one with people in this transformational process. It addresses physical issues as well a psycho-emotional issues that talk therapy often doesn’t touch.

My work is a hands-on technique of slow manipulation of the fascia, a type of moldable connective tissue abundant in the body. This tissue gets compressed and dense due to aging, injuries, long-term poor posture, surgeries, certain diseases, being immobilized, or the flu. This compression can be reversed by adding slow directional pressure to the fascia.

Rolfing looks like a slow, specfic massage but has lasting effects. I am always in communication with my clients during our Rolfing partnership.
