Homewood Suites by Hilton – Boulder

Okay okay, downside first — it is in a really weird location. We got so lost and frustrated trying to find it. You literally have to drive through a shopping center, and at night, the little signs are basically invisible.
Soooo, I was in a pretty crappy mood when I arrived, after being honked at and tailed all around the area for the past 20 minutes. Then when we walked in, the front desk employee informed us that he accidentally gave our room to another person with the same last name.
WHY the 5 stars then?! They literally transformed my mood within 10 minutes. The front desk employee told us he would be right back but to make ourselves comfortable in the lobby/​lounge while we waited. As soon as we turned around, we were greeted by a lovely hostess who’s first question was «Would you like a glass of wine?» followed by «Come relax by the fireplace.» They had a full-​blown wine and appetizers and beer (on tap?!) spread with homemade soup, salad, crudite, cheeses, and crackers. It was wonderful. We took our wine and beer and cozied up in giant chairs near the fireplace. The front desk employee came back and handed us keys to a room within 10 minutes, along with multiple apologies. They were both just so straight-​up nice that it changed my whole mood. We actually stayed in the lobby for a little while and relaxed before heading to our room.
They clearly had upgraded us because of the error, and we essentially walked into an apartment. The room was way larger than my actual apartment — with full kitchen (full– like stove, normal size fridge, and DISHWASHER!) a living room with a kitchen table and couch (seemed like it pulled out too) and flat screen TV. Then a king size bed in another room with the bathroom. It was enormous! So comfy in fact that we walked back out to that shopping center, bought some wine and food, and came back to just relax in our room.
The continental breakfast the next morning was great too. Same cheerful hostess cooking up sausage mcmuffin things, and lots of other options. I was actually really bummed we weren’t staying another night.
I would 100% recommend this place to anyone looking for a cheaper option near Boulder (which had some pretty pricey B&Bs). We took back roads to get to downtown Boulder the next morning, and when we had contemplated going out for dinner, an Über ride was only $ 8! Just read these reviews, so you know how to actually find the place!

Hilton has been disappointing me a lot lately.
I’d pick Residence Inn over Homewood Suites next time.
I got checked into the apartment-​style place (separate building, external door), and traded it for a regular room (internal door, semi-​separate building). It felt much more secure.
As a result, I could hear a lot of neighbor activity, although people here were really low-​key. It wasn’t full of kids. I could also hear EVERY plumbing activity carried out in the unit above mine (I was in 205).
The ceiling fan would have been a nice touch if it wasn’t so loud. The air conditioner was earplugs-​loud.
And the place was hard to find, and it was $ 200 a night, and the blackout curtains didn’t quite reach the side. Just a lot of little things added up.
The bed, however, was comfy. The service was quite good. Breakfast was mediocre.
So, you won’t Hate staying here, but you won’t stay here twice.

Overall a nice place. Mine was a short term stay. Fitness center has the standard Hilton equipment, but is a little small. Suites a huge and not all crammed into one building. Floors are a little thin, but it calms down.
Did not eat the meals.
Parking is good

Homewood Suites was a great home away from home while we were staying in Boulder. We had 7 of us travelling together and I was really happy to see that there were 2 bedroom suites (each with 2 beds per room). When we got there I was really shocked at just how large the room was. It was basically the size of a small house with a full kitchen, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a pull out couch. We lived in luxury while we stayed here.
The lobby was very nice and I really enjoyed the complimentary beer and wine happy hour. The breakfast was also quite good (try the scones) and even the coffee was really tasty. It was only a short 10 minute drive to the Pearl St fun and we enjoyed staying at a close proximity. I would definitely stay here again if ever in Boulder — great spot for the value!

Yes, this hotel is difficult to find, particularly when you arrive after 2am due to a delayed flight, but that is the ONLY complaint I have. The staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly. A special thanks to Keith, the driver of the free shuttle that will take you to the shops and restaurants on Pearl, among other locations located near about a 3 – 5 mile radius. Keith went out of his way to point out the fun tourist attractions in town (all good recommendations) and even followed-​up with us before he was «off the clock» to see if we needed a ride back to the hotel. Each and every staff was courteous and helpful. And the breakfast every morning was tip top! The fresh berries are beyond compare! Everything about this hotel exceeded expectations (if only it were easier to locate in the dark!).

What a wonderful experience. Came for a week, part work, part fun. Why you wouldn’t stay here, I can’t understand. Breakfast was wonderful and included fresh blackberries, blueberries and raspberries! The fresh made scones were no joke either. The staff was wonderful and special thanks to Sandra who took great of us each afternoon. The room was wonderful and ask the staff about the trick of turning the AC off during sleep time. The bike/​walking paths are right here… There are decent restaurants near by… Again, I ask… why stay anywhere else?

My dog and I stayed here for ten days during a trip to Boulder, CO. It was very reasonably priced for a dog friendly place in that town. The rooms have small kitchenette, with two burner stove, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker. Stocked with basic cooking pots. This is okay because breakfast is served in dining area, as is dinner, including wine and tap beer. My room was clean, but could have been updated. Bathroom was very clean. No doggie smell in room or on furniture. The only negative was the skirt around my bed. It didn’t really fit the bed and was hanging onto the floor, so was dirty. The grounds are kept clean and tidy. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Adequate parking. This place is not near the chic downtown but is just adjacent to a shopping mall with a Safeway, bank, Subway, even a library branch. It is an easy drive to the highway. If you’re traveling with your dog, it’s not easy to find a place to stay. I would recommend this place for our nice stay there.

This Homewood Suites exceeded my expectations. I arrived very late — around 1 am, to find the front lobby only accessible by room key. However, I pressed the doorbell & was greeted within seconds by a very upbeat & chipper clerk. She had me checked in & on my way to my room in just a few minutes. Which, that late at night is such a relief!
I am in town for a training workshop nearby & haven’t had a chance to take advantage of the complimentary breakfast or dinner that are served. But having 2 meals offered certainly offsets the $ 149 per night charge.
With that being said, my room is actually very nice. I have a suite with a king bed. The main room has a small kitchenette that has a full size fridge, dishwasher, microwave & 2 burner cook top along with all the dishes & cookware needed for 2 people. Very handy if you are here on a long stay. My room is very clean & well maintained. Housekeeping came while I was out today & did a great job. One note — there is no towel hook/​rack in the area by the bathroom sink & I like to hang up my hand towel after use. Considering this hotel is one of the many that employees the idea of conservation by leaving a note to hang up your towels — I find this lack of a towel hook frustrating.
I took off a star because this place borders on impossible to find. You can see it from the road, but it’s address is 4950 Baseline & it does not sit on Baseline in any way. In fact it sits behind a shopping center that is on Baseline. Getting lost trying to find your hotel at 1am warrants the loss of a star in my book. Sorry Homewood :(

I love this hotel. The staff are really friendly. They have so so breakfast. But the dinners are really great. This is my home away from home! I make sure that I stay at this hotel when I come to Boulder!

The only good thing about this hotel is the front desk staff.
This hotel is located behind the shopping center on baseline and foothill. It takes about 5 minutes to get out to the main road in the morning since you have to go through the shopping parking lot past a drive through bank.
I can hear all the creaking from the floor above me. If possible, request the top floor, although I do not believe there are elevators that take you there.
My room (219) was located right next to the door to outside. I’m a light sleeper, and all morning I could hear the door opening and slamming shut between 5−8AM.
The free wireless internet is awful. I’m a HHonors gold member and can barely use it.
Parking is plentiful, and I haven’t had an issue with it.
The room is dated, with a gross comforter. not the clean feel you get with other hiltons.
I would not stay here again.

Poorly located and difficult to find are only the start of this negative review. When I was looking at places to stay for a couple of months, two years ago, while my house was having some major remodel work done, I decided to give this place a try. Now, granted, I live in Boulder, so you’d think I’d know how to get here. I mean I know where it is as I used to belong to the gym near by, but honestly, I still had trouble trying to find the entrance.
I had booked online for a suite for the entire time I would need it, but when I arrived, I was told I would have to move out one month into my stay due to CU graduation bookings. Huh? I had a two month reservation! I knew there would be issues due to this and the Bolder Boulder, which is why I had booked it five months in advance. I showed them my reservation and the desk clerk only said, «Ok, ok, you can stay», and then gave me a suite number and the keys.
When I walked into the room, the sofa smelled of wet dog and it was saggy too, and I could smell stinky garbage. When I opened the window to air out the room, it was way worse. Turned out the clerk had given me a suite near the dumpsters. Disgusting and totally not the way to treat a local! I knew I would be hearing the trash dumped regularly, and picked up at some point too. Plus, there was someone smoking outside my window. I shut it immediately. Next, I turned down the bed to check for bed bugs and found the sheets were stained. I lifted up the sheets and saw more stains on the mattress, a sure sign of bed bugs, and who knows what else? I started to get the creepy crawlies and was about to heave my lunch. I had to run to the toilet fast, but there I found the bathroom door wouldn’t even close. The toilet wasn’t looking all that clean either.
Being 100% dissatisfied, I went back to the front desk to tell them what I found and ask for a different suite. That’s when the desk clerk got rude, and I got even ruder back. Eventually, I said adiós, walked back to my car and immediately called the Hilton home office to report them. Didn’t pay a cent, thankfully! I ended up having to move to the Residence Inn in Lousiville because of the long stay I needed.

For a hotel in Boulder, Colorado, I think this is as good as it gets.
Granted the hotel is a bit difficult to sign but they do have a sign pointing directly left as you enter the shopping center.
The suites are absolutely huge with their own kitchenettes, WORKING WOOD FIREPLACES (super cozy), and pull out sofas. It’s nice that there is a Safeway near by for use of the kitchen.
The staff is really nice and being college kids gave us some great recommendations about the Boulder area.

We found the hotel pretty easily because we received an email from them explaining GPS sometimes has a hard time with the address so they gave me directions. Check in was easy and the staff was friendly and courteous! Room was great and breakfast was very good! I thought the location was fine, I didn’t mind being so close to a grocery store! It was a little pricey but the large room was worth it!

Stayed here a couple of nights. Loved this hotel! It is very «homey». The staff is excellent and very friendly.
I loved free dinner & breakfast! The first night they had Pork Carnitas tacos, roasted corn on the cob, and rice with a complete salad bar, beer and wine. For Breakfast they had cheddar scrambled eggs with chives, bread pudding, red rosemary potatoes, and fresh baked scones. They also have bagels they order locally. And they have yogurt, cereal, and juice, milk, and oatmeal to choose from.
The table next to me told the breakfast staff she couldnt eat dairy. They made her scrambled eggs without cheese & cream. I thought this was very nice considering it is a buffet and what is out is what you usually get.
For an older property I feel they truely try to take care of the property. My Suite with a fireplace was very clean. I had a question how to open the flu for the wood buring fireplace and the maintenance guy was very nice and came up to open it.
I loved the new fitness center they just remodeled. Even though its a small space, they have 3 machines that all have built in tv’s/radios. They also have yoga balls and weights.
They sent me an email with directions how to arrive to the hotel. They apprently do this with reservations they have emails on file because sometimes other people have a hard time finding it. You have to enter the shopping center and it is tucked behind Michaels. But it is truely a hidden gem!
Me, the wife, and kids will definetly be back!

Underwhelming average property. Not at all what i would expect from a Hilton. I would look elsewhere for a newer, higher quality property. Staff seems nice and there is supposed «suite guarantee» but I don’t want a promise to fix things they know are bound to happen, make sure it’s right to begin with. I’m sure property was very nice a long time ago, but its past its prime.

Cons — aged property both in rooms and common areas (not as clean and comfortable as advertised)
— couch and carpet worn and in need of replacement.
— some appliances and fixtures are circa mid 90s I would guess.
— walls and ceilings are paper thin as commonly found in cheap apartment buildings. (request top floor)
— beds are old and in need of replacement.
— nonsmoking room had stale smoke smell as if it was once a smoking room and then attempted clean.
— fitness center is just two treadmills, elliptical, dumbells to 20lbs, and a few medicine balls. When I was just here none were working and/​or they couldn’t figure out how to plug into safety outlets.

Excellent place. I would stay there again when i return. Not near the ski slopes. Was a great place to relax prior to and after a full day of hiking.

good solid hotel suites place with a kitchen and dishes etc… yes hard to find as entrance is in parking lot of safeway, enter at main entrance off baseline and there is a sign… turn to the left. BONUS right next the premier workout club in boulder. if you are athletically inclined, this is the place to stay
for 50 $ I got a week pass, hot towels, steam sauna, the latest equipment… and the fittest people. Safeway shops are right out back.
My unit was clean. There is some noise from above, very mild… if you are sensitive get a top floor room…3^rd floor. Breakfast was very good.
I like the two tv’s one in living room area and one in bedroom. They have rooms with fireplaces
BEST WIFI EVER!

No less than three GPS devices located the same corner of Baseline Road with ease. There was no motel or marked driveway to be seen by four pairs of relatively well-​functioning eyes. After ten minutes of circling and searching poorly connected residential streets, access roads and state highways, some rather insensitive «homeless suites» jokes were filling the car. No signage, no visible buildings and only endless looping on, and off, the surrounding roads. Twenty minutes after locating this motel on our GPS’s, an attempt to U-​turn in a strip mall sighted a small sign within the parking lot. There, behind the delivery bays for the shopping center, stood the Homewood Suites.
We entered the administrative office building pretty miffed, only to encounter a twit whose «oh, well» responses added gasoline to the fire. Next up was a portly young man whose abysmal customer service skills misguided him to attempt to verbally confront me. Not a good idea…
This bozo then advised that our two rooms, booked and prepaid almost four months earlier, would be in different buildings and on opposite sides of this five building complex. It doesn’t require an advanced degree to understand that two rooms booked together are expected to be located within reasonable proximity of each other.
The layout of this property consists of single-​story buildings circled by poorly-​connected parking lots; bringing to mind the worst aspects of a truck stop and a 1950’s motor hotel.
The suites themselves are huge, and equipped with two televisions, decent beds and a full kitchen. These advantages quickly evaporated as each of the following were uncovered:
— The sofa and cushions reeked of human perspiration, and quite obviously, hadn’t been cleaned in a long time.
— Fleas were evident in the area of the sofa. It was later confirmed that this motel allows pets in guest’s rooms, making it no more than a glorified kennel. Why is it that smoking a single cigarette in a motel room creates a jeopardy for a $ 175 «cleaning fee,» while infesting the same room with fleas is tacitly encouraged?
— The bathroom door was so severely warped that considerable effort was required to avoid being trapped within the bathroom.
To no credit of Homewood Suites, the shopping mall which encircles it includes a Safeway grocery and a variety of convenient retail stores.
In summary, this property is an outright disgrace to the Hilton name and reputation, and should be razed. I doubt that anybody would even notice.

Stayed here for a couple of nights for business. The room was really nice and clean. A TV in the living room and one in the bed room. The staff is very friendly and the free breakfast is good too. From Monday to Thursday, free dinner is included too.
The excellent part is their service. The room I was in started to have water dripping noise in the middle of the night which drove me crazy the first night. Then it went away in the morning. To my surprise, the noise started again the 2^nd night and I called the front desk pretty late in the evening. The manager actually gave me another room for me to sleep in.
The only down side is the location. It is located at the back of a strip mall. I had a bit hard time finding the place even I can actually see the place from the major street next to it.
Overall, it is an excellent place to stay in Boulder.

While a mile outside downtown Boulder, the Homewood suites are along a main road that leads directly past the campus to pearl street. It’s also easy to take foothills parkway to access highway 36.
Our Suite, a bedroom with 2 beds and tv, a main bathroom area, and living room/​kitchen area are all clean and well-​cared for. A nice bonus is that our living room has a little fireplace with some comfy couches and another flat screen tv near it. In our room the hotel selected cable is pretty good, and there is internet.
Downstairs there is a nice business center, a pool and a fitness center and lobby for continental breakfast for guests.
Overall, this is a really nice place to stay.
