We went here because it was referred by a friend and while the front office staff was very nice and helpful, the automotive repair was probably the worst I have experienced in 30 years. We brought our truck in, had some repairs — one item was not done correctly so we brought it back — and then this same scenario happened again (!). The third time we came in (for the second fix) I was told the mechanic noticed another repair that should be done — when asked ‘Why didn’t you call us? We would have authorized the repairs.’ — was then given a polite but useless answer (something to the effect of ‘Well, all customers are different…’). My mechanics have always called me mid-​day to provide an update on the vehicle and mention anything they noticed that needs to be done — that is pretty basic customer service.
Overall my impression is that they are a very large volume shop that is no longer offering good service. They are so busy that the quality of their work is suffering — which is too bad since they seem to have had many satisfied customers in the past.
I could not recommend this auto shop to anyone.

Just a quick first experience — I showed up around opening time one morning when the brake lights on my old Honda Pilot went out. The gentleman at the counter came out to the parking lot with me, got the covers off (not so easy), and replaced the light bulbs. Total time: less than 20 minutes. Total charge: $ 9.60 for the bulbs. I will be back!

I’ve been long overdue in writing a review for Hoshi Motors. All my prior experiences have been outstanding in terms of their professionalism, friendliness, and above all, honesty. An example:
As I was driving into Boulder for work, my Subaru’s CEL suddenly began to flash – an indication that a problem needs to be addressed ASAP – and developed an alarmingly rough idle. I immediately took it to Hoshi; while I obviously did not have a pre-​scheduled appointment, they were very accommodating. The problem turned out to be a misfiring cylinder that could be fixed by changing the spark plugs and wires. Ironically, I had a set of both at home and could therefore do it myself; however, given the urgency of the problem I had Hoshi replace them for me. Having been made aware of this situation, they offered to charge only for the labor.
This is one of several experiences I’ve had with this shop in which they have been absolutely fair towards me. (And like other reviewers here, they have not charged me for their time to diagnose what turned out to be non-​problem with my cars.)
Hoshi’s excellent reputation is well deserved and I would recommend them to anyone who needs their vehicle serviced without any hesitation.

Everyone at Hoshi is extremely friendly, knowledgable and willing to take the time to explain anything that needs explaining. As a younger woman, I’m always worried about car repair shops taking advantage of my lack of knowledge in this area but I’ve always felt their prices are reasonable and their explanation is precise and to the point. I also want to say that I love Rory, Brandon and Hollis! They’re all amazing guys!

every experience i have with hoshi motors is always excellent. they always go above and beyond the task at hand. i feel very well taken care of every time i go. trustworthy and knowledgeable; sadly a pair that’s hard to come by for an auto joint, but thankfully offered at hoshi.

First time here. Needed some routine maintenance done on my Toyota truck. They were very friendly, professional, did the work professionally and charged me a fair price for the work. You can’t ask for more from an auto repair place. I recommend them fully.

We went to Hōshi Motors with high hopes after the majority of friends recommended (although one set of friends did not like the way they handled misdiagnosis dealings).
Unfortunately we have had more bad experiences than good over the past few years so we will go elsewhere. The issue is around small mistakes requiring us to return, and typically the car has had new problems upon picking it up…
The desk staff are professional and courteous — it’s the poor diagnostics and what feels like a little price gouging that soured us.

They are fantastic. They are honest, affordable, and really cool people. I had to replace my clutch and timing belt and they did a great job with both of those issues. Further, they ran the diagnostic for no cost. If you have a vehicle that needs work, go there!

More than once they’ve looked at my car, and told me something wasn’t worth fixing (it’s a ’98 Camry)… then sent me off without charging me a dime. They are the ruling-​est mechanics ever. What they did fix, stayed fixed.
And, cute dogs to calm your nerves.

Hoshi is fantastic. They are straight-​forward and honest about the parts they use and the service that your car needs. I really appreciate it when a mechanic takes me seriously and does not try to sell me things that I don’t need. Hoshi fits the bill.
Recently my 2000 Honda Civic was acting funny. The headlights were getting brighter and dimmer while I drove. I took it to the Honda dealer and despite the fact that I told them I had just replaced the bulbs, they told me it was the bulbs, changed them, and excessively overcharged me. The problem did not stop so I took it to Hoshi. They immediately diagnosed it as my alternator and replaced it the same day. My Honda is running great and I will keep taking it back there.

Lori and the mechanics at Hoshi have been our mainstay in Colorado for almost 10 years. From the rusting ’87 Civic we drove out from the East Coast (that made it all that way and promptly died) to the late-​model Toyota we now have – they’ve worked on every car we’ve had, doing everything from oil changes to a major front end accident repair. We started with one mechanic and when he left Hoshi several years ago we moved over to another without a hitch.
They’re friendly, honest, expert and down-​to-​earth (the waiting area is like a front porch/​living room). They’re not the cheapest but they’re what we’ve learned (the hard way) to look for: avoid the dealerships and the corporate chains, and seek the independent shops run by decent human beings who know what they’re doing and charge reasonably for top quality work. We trust them without hesitation… complete peace of mind.
Only problem now is that we live 40 mins away in Denver… so we still go there for major work but are looking around for a neighborhood shop for convenience.

I have never regretted a penny i have spent there.
Everything is top notch. 100% service quality, honesty. i will only buy cars that they will work on.
In 1989 I tried to impress my then girlfriend by re rebuilding her carburetor. after hours of humiliation I gave up & went to Hoshi. Lori’s response was to try to advise me on how to fix it. Since then I have been taking my cars to her.

Normally when I approach a garage about a car problem, I expect to leave feeling like they wanted to be my overly-​aggressive attention-​starved cell mate, and I prepare to turn around and grab my shoelaces.
Hoshi isn’t normal. It’s exceptional. Even if you have but a passing knowledge of automobiles, likely problems will be explained to you in plain English.
If every garage were this were this good, we would all be able to do what we wish we could do — show our dealer’s «service» department that they’re «Number One», only not with the our index fingers.
