My partner and I love this place! It’s a great cozy place to settle into when it is snowing out. It also has a wonderful patio during the warmer months that look out onto the flatirons. It’s the perfect place for a casual low key meal! I love their chicken wings, they have a really unique sauce! My favorite is their fish and chips.

The Toad is one of my long time Boulder favorites for lunch and dinner. It’s one of those places where you just feel at home. Been going now for almost 16 years, so I’ve tried almost everything and everything is great! They pour a real Guinness and I love the Dirty Burger, the Pub Salad, the Turkey Reuben and the Meat Loaf… yes the Meat Loaf! Always a packed house, as everyone in the neighborhood calls it home!

The food is better than at Connor O’Neil’s or Murphy’s(to compare it with other restaurant pubs). However, beers like«old speckled hen» for example are pretty awful. Both Connor and Murphy’s have a much better beer selection. They don’t have much aside from English/Irish beers and Fat Tire.

This place has a comfortable vibe, is family friendly, and the food selection has«comfort» written all over it. Try the Poutine. It should come with a side of Lipitor, but damn it’s good! Bar staff skillfully recommended a tasting of local beers and all were exceptional.

Excellent Happy Hour offerings and prices. No wi-fi, so that knocks it out of the running as a place to hang out and do some work on the laptop. This is 2015, right? Why wouldn’t you have wi-fi? The regular menu prices can be steep for what you get. Although I probably won’t get salads anymore after finding a baby cockroach crawling around in the last one I got. I’m not delusional, though– I know tons of restaurants probably have some sort of bug problem. It was just upsetting to have to SEE the thing… IN my food. Note: Don’t go if there’s a sports game happening and you want to escape that, because they play them at high volume and the place gets noisy. Service is hit or miss. Drinks are good, thankfully. All in all– I wish there were better British-style pubs in Boulder to choose from.

This is my favorite place to eat in Colorado! Been here more times than I can count. I don’t like fish, and I love the fish and chips here!

I’ve got to bump this to a 4. The more I go and the more on their menu I find, I like this place increasingly well. My new favorite is the ragin Cajun fettuccine w chicken. It’s so. Darn. Good.

Average food, average service, no off-street parking. Good in a pinch but not a destination restaurant.

So There are good things and bad things about this place, but the good outweighs the bad. The service was just OK(sufficiently attentive, but not too inviting/friendly), and the drinks weren’t too good(at least not what we got), but the food… the food was FANTASTIC! I don’t remember the last time I had a steak cooked to perfection like this one was, and the grilled vegetables had the best flavor ever. Maybe I just lucked out with that particular meal(Black and Blue), but I wasn’t disappointed one bit. Will definitely go back again!

I tend to stick to the more«mainstream» restaurants when I eat out, but my family and I chose«Hungry Toad» to change things up, and I was pleasantly surprised! The setting was laid-back and relaxing, and I enjoyed eating somewhere not buzzing with tons of activity. The burgers were amazing, and cooked just right, and our server was extremely friendly and conversational. I will definitely eat there again next time I’m in that area!

I have been coming here with my friend for a awhile now and will continue to do so. It’s great for a quite lunch or for a up beat dinner. The food is very consistent every time, definitely grab the pesto chicken or Cajun Alfredo it’s so good every time. I love the pint glasses the most, my beer looks great in it! The only criticism I have is the pasta dishes could do without the parsley garnish on the rim of the plates.(Nothing should ever go on the rim it looks messy). That’s why I had to to drop to 3⁄5 sorry it could really do without it.

Good french fries and a reliable lunch. Saw the french onion soup walk by and it looked great. Friendly staff with a nice patio. Little pricey for bar food.

My husband and I pre-gamed here before heading to Denver for a concert. Love the neighborhood bar atmosphere with people on the patio waving to people walking by on the street. Yes they have your typical pub fare but a much wider selection. I had the Dirty Bird– a chicken sandwich with sautéed mushrooms, sweet onions and peppers complete with crispy bacon. Very good! My husband tried the Ahi sandwich and thought it needed a «secret sauce» because it was a bit dry despite having it cooked on the rarer side. The service was quick and friendly. We will definitely be back!

I am always on the hunt for really good French Onion Soup, and the Hungry Toad definitely delivers! I have eaten here twice now, and been pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff, and atmosphere. The décor is pretty hilarious, too. Be sure to check it out.

Like everyone is saying, it is typical pub food. I did not drink alcohol when I went, and merely visited for lunch. I heard from friends that it was good, so I decided to give it a try. It’s external appearance is actually pretty intriguing. It looks just as I would imagine an English pub to look like inside, but it was kind of gross and sticky. Because of this, I kept my arms off the table during my whole meal. The food was overpriced for what it was. It was incredibly mediocre. Honestly, I’d rather walk across the street to Ideal Market and grab a to-go sandwich than eat at the Hungry Toad again.

Great food, sometimes the people who work there cop an attitude… If you are ordering from their ‘specialities’ and taking it to go, they are NOT going to include the soup/salad that you get when you dine in and you’re charged the SAME. This really made me angry, sorry guys, you lost a customer of 14 years over this.

If you are looking for a English pub experience, this place is perfect. Good selection of English beers, served in true British pints, great atmosphere, and great food. We ordered the bangers and mash and the fish and chips. Both were excellent! I especially liked the malt vinegar they serve — nice and tart — and the portion sizes of the fish. The house salad with house-made balsamic was also really good. The only dings: prices are a bit steep for the pub fare we had, at +/-$ 15, and the attempt to be a «bistro» should revert to remaining a good old Pub. Bistros are a dime-a-dozen. Pubs are harder to find, and good pubs are even rarer. This is a great pub — embrace it! Having said that, I really enjoyed the overall experience and will definitely be back!

You know what — this place is just swell for what it is. Britishy, kitchey-homey atmosphere, great service, and large servings. My friends love the giant nachos, I like the burgers, and I’ve enjoyed lunch, dinner, happy hour, and closing there. For awhile we were regulars there after choir rehearsal and they were wonderful about managing us as a large group.

This place is a mainstay of North Boulder. I remember eating here when I was in high school(a REALLY long time ago)! I would go after the final performances of a play with my acting buddies, where we would proceed to make asses of ourselves and I stopped feeling like such a social retard. So Hungry Toad definitely has the nostalgia angle working in its favor. Now that I’ve been back here a few times as an adult, I can say that maybe I built it up a little more in my mind. I mean, I was a lanky 17 year old hanging out in a BAR for the first time, with people who were totally over 21. The service here is pretty good and I’ve never been left wanting, and the food is good, but not superlative. It’s kind of been the last resort for food when I’ve arrived in Boulder later at night and am suddenly hungry but don’t want to spend and arm and a leg on food. So, yes, I’ll probably eat there again and maybe have a pint(they do have some Firestone Walker beers, go them), but it’s more like the place I end up, rather than the place I make plans to go to.
