I bring my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Special Edition here — wouldn’t take my baby anywhere else. Craig and everyone else take excellent care of my vehicle, helping me keep it running smoothly in its old age. Craig is also great about educating me on what needs to be done and why, as well as what can be put off and what can’t — I TRUST these folks not to rip me off and in the 8 years I’ve been entrusting my vehicles to them, I’ve never been disappointed.

Very competent mechanics, honest, and courteous. Have gone to them for years. Recently, they recommended we take our Jeep to the dealer because the part/​repair was covered by the company’s warranty. Would highly recommend John’s 4×4.

Kevin is awesome, the mechanics are straightforward and I felt like I was taken care of. I highly recommend Johns 4×4 for anyone.

Ok, I’ve reviewed John’s 4×4 a couple times before at least, but, I see now that most of the reviews are somehow hidden, stating they are «not recommended»??? What the heck is going on here?
There was an owner change earlier this year, I was told in January, by the latest manager — Kevin. I wonder if that’s why those reviews aren’t recommended anymore. Well, my last experience, before this latest one, was after that new owner came in, so my last review should be showing, but it’s not. So, I’m going to review it one more time.
I took my VW Passat wagon in for an all wheel alignment this week. I had slightly hit a medium when turning left at night with my left rear tire recently. The intersection was very poorly lit and I took it too tightly. This knocked the rear end out of alignment, which was very noticeable when driving on the highway. John’s was running a special so I decided to take advantage of it. They did a fine job with showing me what happened and what needed doing to fix it. A shim needed installing to repair the wheel alignment. I saw the specs on the printout to confirm this. However, I gotta say, the repair was far more expensive than I would have thought it should have been. I’d say it was double what I was expecting.
Also, I had prepaid for 4 oil changes last year when they ran a special on those. I had only used one, on my Passat. Kevin said they would honor that special. I specifically stated my cars are diesels. No mention that those prepaid oil changes didn’t apply to diesels when I bought them, nor when I asked Kevin about using one for my daughter’s Jetta TDi. I also wanted to get her car alignment checked too, for their special price of $ 49.99. So, I booked in for both cars on the same day.
When I arrived with my Passat at 9 am, Kevin told me that diesels are NOT part of the oil change special I had prepaid for, and that he could only apply one prepaid towards their normal price. This was very uncool of him! They get you in under false statements and sucker you. I should have asked for a refund and walked right away, but I didn’t. I decided to give them a chance.
When I asked what their normal price for the oil change would be, I was blown away. It was really high. I stepped outside and called the shop I usually go to for oil changes for their price, John’s price was $ 20 higher than where I normally take it. Holy shoes folks! So then, I told Kevin I wanted the money I had prepaid last year applied to my services on my Passat and Jetta. He said he could use one prepaid off the Jetta’s oil change, which basically brought it down to the price of our regular shop in Boulder. No bargain there. The remaining two he applied to the work on my Passat. So, all in all, I didn’t save a dime at all by coming here. In fact, once I ran the numbers, I ended up paying more here than if I’d just gone to my regular shops.
This place is still a rip-​off. Stay away. Their labor and parts fees are higher than everywhere else I’ve ever gone to. Sure their tax rate is about half what it is inside the Boulder city limits, but honestly that doesn’t make up for the overcharging on labor and parts!
I’ll stick to 5^th Gear in Broomfield for alignments from now on.
As for all other services on my TDi cars, I go back to my regular shops and 5^th Gear in Broomfield for alignments.
I’ll never be back to John’s!

I recently had an aftermarket leveling kit installed that I purchased elsewhere. They were kind, courteous and did a quick job getting this installed. They even had free wifi while I waited.

Took my 1996 Fulls Size Bronco here about a month back as it was clunking when in 4WD, and the bumper was rusting apart. Turns out the frontU joints had to be replaced and some components had worn big time as a result. They also were able to find me a more cost effective solution to the bumper problem.
Was it «cheap»? Nope, but expertise rarely is.
Did they stay in contact with me, answer all my questions, fix the problem, the cause of the problem, work with me to find solutions and do it all in a timely matter?
I’ll be back.

Over promised, overcharged and under delivered. I will never use them again.
