History

Established in 2003.

We started as a pair of guys who had a vision of how to transform a dusty obsolete 1950’s or 60’s ranch into an attractive highly functional house. We bought a house, gutted it down to the exterior walls and rebuilt everything.

After performing several of these projects in and around South Boulder, people began approaching us, asking if we could use our skills on their homes. This is how our client base was born.

To date, our marketing and business plan is simple: take care of our clients.

Meet the Business Owner

Mike D.

Business Owner

SoBo is owned by Mike D’Onofrio and Eric Youngren.

Mike graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in civil engineering. After dabbling in the realm of large scale corporate construction, he decided to seek a career path that was more personal. He moved to Boulder to work as a carpenter and enjoy Colorado’s lifestyle.

Eric graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Forestry. He was previously pursuing a degree in Aerospace Engineering and changed directions to be more connected to nature and life’s processes. He moved to Colorado for the outdoor recreational opportunities. After managing a bike shop for several years, he decided to change gears and move into carpentry and building.

Mike and Eric met working for the same construction company. Lunchtime chats and afterhour beers watered the seeds of SoBo D&B’s birth. 8 years later, the sappling is growing into a tree.
