Description

Specialties

2015 «Best Diner in Colorado» according to Business Insider. Come see why and be sure to let us know if you’re new!

The Village French Toast is hot, battered deliciousness. Consider yourself forewarned: both it and the green chili that comes on the Breakfast Burrito are highly addictive. The green chili is mild (we have Cholula if you need to doctor it), but oh, so tasty.

The hash browns have won accolades from legions of customers and also 5280 Magazine. Perfectly browned, shredded, classic hash browns.

History

Established in 1971.

Chuck Tyler, with the help of his father, Bruce, opened the Village Coffee Shop in February of 1971.

Nancy Tyler originally worked as a line cook and then when she married Chuck, inevitably married the business also. We all called her «Mamma.» No one, in all the restaurants in all the world, has ever brought more personality to the job than «Mamma.»

The Village has always been a great place for community. It’s inexpensive enough that anyone can afford to eat here on a regular basis, with a staff that never, ever changes. This is the place where your waitress probably knows not only your name, but also what you usually have for breakfast and whether or not the friends sharing your table today have ever been in before. If we don’t notice the Village Virgins, point them out.

Meet the Business Owner

Shanna and Ryan H.

Business Owner

I, Shanna, worked as a waitress at the Village Coffee Shop for seven years before Chuck Tyler, the original owner, decided that he was ready to retire.

My husband, Ryan, has a culinary degree and has worked at some of Boulder’s finest restaurants.

Chuck thought that together, with our years of restaurant experience, we’d be a good fit for running the business that he’d given his heart and soul to for 33 years. We were so excited when he offered to sell the restaurant to us and I think we’re even more excited now that we’re in our eleventh year of owning it.
