Best Western Plus Grantree Inn

We stayed here our first night in Bozeman — I wasn’t impressed with our stay — it was more expensive than the B&B we stayed at during the rest of our trip — and they didn’t even offer a continental breakfast!
At the check in they gave us coupons for the restaurant (two for one drinks) and a free coffee in the morning — making it sound like a deal — but that same deal is offered to anyone who goes into the restaurant so there is no special deal for staying in the hotel.
Not sure that I would stay here again… for the money I think we could have found a better place to stay.

This is a great, centrally located hotel in Bozeman. I got in around midnight, so was tentatively leery about what would be awaiting me at the hotel upon my arrival. Well, rather than a sleepy, ornery front desk associate, I encountered a very friendly woman that quickly got me into my room and even answered a few questions about the area (despite the late arrival time). The front desk is adjacent to the hotel restaurant, which, for the record has incredibly attentive service and good, solid fare. There is a nicely decorated primary area, which served as a great, quiet spot to review some solar energy regulations. The rooms are basic, but the pillows and linens are comfortable. This is a good, reasonably priced spot for a stay in Bozeman.

Do not expect a quiet night after a long day of traveling at this Best Western! The design of the hotel has the rooms surrounding the atrium meeting space (which used to be the pool). So you hear the team building or convention going on as if it is in your room until 10 pm and starting again in the morning. I did ask to be moved to another room, but they said their were no other rooms available. The bed was comfortable and the room was ok, but the floor was disgusting, my white socks became black on the bottom after being in that room only 1 night (and honestly I was not on my feet that long as I was trying to sleep).

We had a great meal and some delicious wine! There was a nice variety of meal choice on the menu. Our waiter was the best! Certainly recommend stopping here!

First time in this hotel. The rooms were a decent size and clean. Staff was friendly. They only have two floors and NO ELEVATOR, it would not be as bad if you only have a small carry-​on or a big guy to help with your bags.
The hotel restaurant was clean, and their staff was also friendly. I had the «huevos rancheros» (a mexican always a mexican) and was pleasantly surprised. The chorizo was not the real deal, but it was a good imitation. The eggs were nestled inside a corn tortilla filled with refried beans and hash browns, and finished with an authentic «queso fresco».
Other choices for food include the Arby’s in the parking lot, an Applebee’s a couple of miles away and a super Walmart accross the street.
Not a bad hotel if you are just passing by, like me.

Aside from the scenic mountain views and a few restaurants around the hotel. This Best Western is actually very nice. They said they’ve just renovated the rooms, and they are actually on point.
It all starts in the Lobby, where there you are greeted, by a really nice staff which is genuinely delighted to welcome you to their hotel. There’s a seating area with couches and arm chairs, directly across is the Bar/​Restaurant which is by far the most happening hotel bar/​restaurant I’ve ever seen.
After getting our keys, we proceed to wheel our baggies down to our rooms. One LITTLE problem is the lack of elevators, which is not a big deal to me. Specially the fact that the hotel only has TWO floors. I could see how it would get a bit overwhelming if you brought your whole house with you (that’s called figure of speech).
Anyway, this hotel is pretty good. The rooms are clean, there’s a TV is you wanna watch, the bathrooms are really clean as well, there’s a closet to put your coat or jacket, there’s curtains on the window, decorations on the walls and a nice comfy bed for you to lay on.
I like this hotel, and I would definitely consider staying here next ski season. We’re thinking Big Sky baby!

I stayed 4 nights. Service at the front desk was polite and helpful, when they showed up. I parked outside a closer door (F) when I went to my room. As soon as I entered there was a strong odor of rotting food. In the entry/​stairway was a trash can overflowing with trash strewn about around it. I figured that it was because I checked in at a very late hour, however it remained this way for another day and a half.
My room was clean with iron and iron board, fridge, microwave, and large hdtv. Bed was comfy and plenty of pillows. The air conditioner/​heater worked too, but the next morning I woke with some serious sinus problems and soar throat. Also the walls were thin and I could clearly hear the occupants in the room above get up and urinate. Noises in the hall were also a nuisance.
The restaurant and bar is nice but the waitress the next morning for breakfast was not very helpful. First she said someone would be out to help, the. A few minutes later she took out order. Did not bring the condiments I had asked for and also appeared to be busy with only 3 groups of people in the restaurant.
Dinner was mediocre with a clashing price. The chicken fried steak was bland and the enchilada soup was more of a strange spicy paste that was too spicy with horrible taste.
One thing I can say that was good was the bar and drinks. As this will probably be the only reason I would return.
Long story short I checked out a day early due to my sinus and throat aggravation and I am now feeling much better.

Friendly and helpful staff, large, clean rooms. Pet friendly (which I appreciate even though my dog is wasting away at home with the husband who furnishes neverending treats for accomplishing such feats as returning from walkies).
Beware: there are no elevators. Since I travel with a 40+ lb rolling office (but, hey, still get it all in carry-​on), that is a deal breaker. I also have a large box full of books for the seminars that I conduct, which would have been impossible to get up the stairs. The front desk woman was kind enough to change my room to a first floor room, and send one of the setup guys to get my box. That was pretty cool.
After travelling the country, I still do not understand the whole concept of having an inner atrium. I mean I kind of get it, swimming while it is snowing, but sliding glass doors opening to the inside? It’s noisy and obnoxious. I’m very grateful that I got an outside room on the bottom floor this time. They swear that it’s noisier, but it is so much more convenient and it actually is quieter. Seriously. Ask for an outside room.
I gave this hotel four stars for its cleanliness and its exceptional customer service. But now I have to rant about something that I found at a lot of these hotels: Clean Remotes (insert little trademark thingie here).
Everytime I see one of these things, I wince in anticipated pain. I know I am about to face a night of frustrating button squashing with nothing happening. I hate frantically stabbing at buttons all night long, only to have to get up and point the remote within two inches of the stupid little circle sticker on the side of the TV so the damn thing will work. Its called a remote, not a «2 inches in proximity.»
I did not dock the hotel stars because I do appreciate their misguided attempt to allay the fears of the overly cautious, germophobic (read: Wussy) public. Frankly, I would rather risk Ebola then have to deal with this pain in the ass remote.
Still, this is a pretty decent hotel, & I would recommend it — stupid remote notwithstanding.
One more complaint: No free breakfast. Given how much work you have to go through to change the dang channel, you should at least get a free bowl of oatmeal.

We loved our stay at this hotel especially because of how dog friendly they were they even had an enclosed exercise area where we met other friendly dogs. we will definitely stay here again. They also gave us a super late checkout really help travel not to mention how clean the room was!

Would have given 4 stars for comfort, cleanliness, and warmth during -20 °F week, but my stay was soured by two events: 1) awakened from deep sleep at 10:30pm by rowdy guests (adults with kids) in the pool area. 2) lack of service at the hotel restaurant. I stood by the «Wait to be Seated «sign several minutes waiting to be seated for breakfast. Forced to listed to some lady give bad advice to a kid and his dad about college, then endured her bragging about attending Florida State (?? :-/​). After waiting to be seated and realizing the hostess was a no-​show, I decided to leave and go elsewhere for breakfast. As I’m leaving, the «bragger» squeals out, «Are you wanting to be seated for breakfast?» Turns out she’s the Hostess! Pretty disappointed with Bozeman BW.

If you are looking for a clean, place with friendly, HONESTpeople, stay away!
When I was traveling with my two sons we left early in the morning due to a family emergency. Two hours after leaving in a rush, we realized no one double checked the room to see if we left anything behind. I called the front desk and explained what had happened, the woman at the front desk checked the computer and saw that housekeeping had not been to the room yet and offered to call us back when she personally would go to the room and check it for us. Ten minutes later she called back, told me she had our belongings, including a gold cross with a cross with Jesus on it that I rarely took off for the past thirty years, I never told her what I left behind she told me. It was a gift from my late mom whom passed away at a young age. The woman on the phone told me she would bill my credit card for shipping to my home. I could not thank her enough for her honesty, I was so relieved. Two weeks went by I never received the package, I called to see if it went to the right address they read the notes in the computer and said they would call back. The following week I called them, they had no recollection of my situation and have hung up on me when I told them I would be filing a police report due to it being they had the cross in their possession even though it was me that left it behind.
There are plenty of places to stay in the area, STAY CLEAR OF THIS ONE.

Favorite breakfast in town! Get a ton of great food for a great price! Perfect to take kids for breakfast! Serves City Brew coffee! Can’t go wrong! Lunch and dinner are great but their breakfasts are the best!

The hotel was under renovation. Most of the hallways had a gross color, and a musty smell. The pool and gym were closes, and despite all this they still charged normal rates. The room was pretty nice for the most part.
The restaurant downstairs was terrible, stay away. Walk to taco bell or McDonalds or something. The food was overpriced and wasn’t that great at all. We got a mexican pizza, that pasically consisted of a undercooked dough with canned chili on it, and some tomatoes. The only reason the drinks were a reasonable price is because I had a buy one get one half off. But they had little to no alcohol in them.

Unlike the other tripadvisors, the front desk service person that we interacted with really could have had a bit more training. We arrived at 11pm and let her know that we had confirmed through
for the evening. While she was looking for us, we asked her a quick question about an ongoing best western promotion. She told us she was fairly new and really didn’t know the answer to our question. No problem, we could call customer service or something, we said.
Well, things quickly became confusing when she could not find us in the computer system. She told us we could probably get a room, but the rate would be different. When I explained that we had paid for our booking already through
–showing her the email that was sent to us, she told us she wasn’t sure what to do. She did look for us again, then tried to call, who I can assume was her supervisor to see what had to be done.
The supervisor told her to check for a fax, which, for some reason did not come through. Long story short, I had to make two calls to
from the lobby and request they keep resubmitting the fax. The second time, the CSR of
asked why we hadn’t been accomodated. I told him I didn’t know. We ended up waiting in the lobby for about 40 minutes for a fax that never showed. Never during this time did the front desk attempt to contact her supervisor again and follow up on what had to be done for us. I understand that she was busy checking other people in, who came after us, but at 11:45 at night we just wanted a room. The CSR for
asked to speak with her and somehow resolved things so that we could, at least get into a room.
After she hung up with him, she apologized, but kept saying how she didn’t know why she didn’t think of the solution that he suggested sooner. This comment, instead of mollifying, just made it seem that there was something that had clearly not been covered in the training of this person for front desk duty.
when we got to our room, I realized that, while we had confirmed for a king bed, we had been given a queen. I dont know if this is due to the hotel being fully booked (as was mentioned earlier in a conversatino the front desk had with her supervisor)-but by this point, I just no longer wanted to try and sort this out.
The room is clean and bright but I just wish that the front desk had been someone better equipped to deal with a slight hiccup so it didn’t have to become a 40 minute ordeal…
I have to say though, the day management during check out seemed like they knew what they were doing… but still… wish there was some more training for the night shift before leaving inexperienced new employees to deal on his/​her own.

Good hotel in general. I had a king suite as a free upgrade — which was nice. But I was on the second floor in an area of the hotel undergoing renovations, so there was a lot of noise from the hallway during the day. And the smell of paint all the time.
My room was also right beside a stairwell with an outside doorway to the parking lot. The second night of my stay, some idiots had a smoke outside my room at 3am and were yelling loudly instead of talking normally. So I had to call the front desk and complain. The person on duty at the front desk was hesitant to do anything — which surprised me. But eventually went outside and told the guys to shut up (and they did).
The room, bed, bathroom, and amenities were nice and clean. Except the bedroom closet was useless because the king bed was too big and blocked the doors.
The food was good. I ate at the restaurant three times and had a catered dinner once. The pizza was surprisingly excellent. The steak was okay. The breakfast was good, but the waitress took too long to serve me my 2^nd morning and I had to leave it half eaten.
The price I got was good, but was because I was there with a group for part of my trip. Breakfast should be included, however. It is at some Best Westerns, but this is a Plus version and it isn’t included.

Attending a full day education course in the convention center. The manager of the property restuarant, The Club Tavern & Grill, gave everyone a $ 2.00 off coupon for lunch. What a great idea to generate business. It’s greatly appreciated!

Our king suite was very nice. The bed and pillows were wonderful. Funky smell in the hallways, like BO, but room was fine.

Bottom line: Clean rooms
Really, that is all that matters when you are traveling. I want the bathroom to be clean and the sheets to sparkling white. The BW delivered.
The hotel itself has a great almost 70’s feel with a good dose of mountain-​state/​western motif. That’s fine. We are in Montana of course.
Free wifi.
My only issue is that first floor rooms are of course on the ground floor. Headlights from parking cars. People walking around and chatting. No big deal, but I’d probably request the second floor.

While not a 4 star hotel, the experience rates well. After a few hours of driving we checked in looking for a room with a king bed. The only king rooms available were semi suites which they offered at the standard king rate. The room was super clean. It had all the basics for road trip travel including microwave, fridge, safe, variety of coffees & teas, large closet, etc. There were 2 flat screen TVs — 30 something inch in bedrooom and 40 something in front room. (Sorry, I’m not a guy so I don’t know the TV sizes right off the bat.) The bed was wonderful. Not too firm or too soft. Goldilocks likey. And the pillows were like resting your head on a cloud. I’ve paid much more to be this comfortable. =) The only drawback is that the upstairs level has no elevator so not totally equipped for wheelchairs and people with really heavy luggage.
Room service was available 24 hours and the food was decent. We ordered breakfast at 6 and it was to us in 20 minutes. The biggest surprise was a small fee. There were no separate prices for the menu whether in restaurant or room service. It was reasonable and delicious. We wanna go do more time in Yellowstone and we would definitely stay here again.

I first went to the Grand Tree probably more than 15 years ago and it had been at least 10 years since I had last visited it or Bozeman Montana. I was in for a nice shock of remembering how cold it gets in the winter of Montana, I was also reminded how friendly most of the people are who live there. I do remember thinking the hotel was much bigger however the last time I stayed there was prior to living in San Francisco so that might have a good deal to do with it.
My room was a standard hotel room, nothing fancy however nothing that stuck out in my mind except that they have yet to upgrade to flat screen tv’s which didn’t bother me any. The staff was friendly and helpful, the pool area seemed nice although I didn’t jump in the water. The best think that stuck out to me was the newly remodeled restaurant. They really did a great job on this place, with so many large screens to watch sports and the food was so good I ate there twice during my one night of staying there! The waitstaff was very friendly and the food was good, however not the kind of good if you are on a diet good :)
I would recommend the Grand Tree to anyone who is going to visit Bozeman as it is in a good location, easy to find and has almost everything you need in a hotel.
