Jim’s Deli & Restaurant

It’s worth noting that I love and support many hole in the wall venues throughout the city. Indeed, my favorite Turkish restaurant is not high end but rather authentic and fast. The same is true for my favorite local Thai restaurant which even comes with a separate Thai only menu.
I walked to Jim’s in order to dine with my friend who was visiting from Toronto. This was his selected restaurant after being away from the Boston metro area for approximately six months. That’s fairly high praise, right? This brunch reminded me that greasy spoon places are distinct from hole in the wall, start up restaurants.
My friend ordered the chicken parmesan omelet which came with home fries and toast. I opted for steak tips and eggs because it seemed to be the only non-​lactose option on the menu. Mine also came with toast and home fries. The portions are generous.
The steak was tough and not of high quality. My sunny side up eggs went to the hipster college student standing in front of my friend in the queue. It seemed too busy to intercede as the line behind us was long. I think that my friend’s omelet seemed to be of higher quality. If I went to this venue again, I’d recommend the eggs or omelet dishes.

If you want an overwhelming selection of food oh man you need to come here! Dozens of custom sandwiches (as adventurous as you want to get), loads of a la carte meat entrees and sides to build your own meal, desserts, drinks, fried stuff, so much it’ll leave you standing there in awe.
The hot sandwiches are what I usually get, since I can try a different one each time I go. They seem to be what folks usually get, but I do see folks getting plates of brisket and potatoes as well. If you or your friends ever have a hard time deciding, this is an awesome place to appease everyone. There’s not a whole bunch of seating but it never seems to be full.

I always for the pastrami sandwich. It’s stacked high and so filling.

Perfect place for a sandwich and fries if you’re in Brighton! I had the chicken deluxe plate and my boyfriend had the buffalo chicken plate. The chicken was fried to perfection and tasted delicious with hot fries and vinegar. My boyfriend devoured his sandwich and said that it was great.
I’ll definitely be back to try Jim’s breakfast, it looked great!

After visiting Jim’s during a few excursions to Boston, I was finally convinced to make the move to Beantown to be closer to my favorite deli. Ok, there might have been a few other reasons for the move, but Jim’s is really out of this world.
Every time I come here, masses of hungover college kids stumble through the doors. I don’t know how they do it, but Jim and co get through those lines like bausses. So don’t get intimidated by the line; it moves quickly.
You must try the corned beef hash. I get the eggs over easy, pop the runny yolk on top, and savor every bite of that gooey, crispy, salty goodness. The breakfast burrito is also excellent and their sandwiches are good as well. Prices are fair and I’ve never had a trouble finding seating as most people get takeout.
Even after moving to Boston, I wish I lived a little closer to Jim’s. Seriously need to consider moving into the neighborhood. I wonder if my parents named me after Jim… Wouldn’t blame them if they did.

Delicious breakfast for the entire family. Fast friendly service. Place your order at the counter, loaded it on a tray, pay and eat. Booths for four and booths for two. Plentiful BLT sandwich for one son; farmers breakfast for the other two boys. Delicious home fries … And I am picky about my home fries! A great breakfast find.

Went here today after I was TRAPPED in that area of Brighton from street closures for a road race. Was a little confused about how it works but I just asked a customer and they explained it was cafeteria style. I got the farmer’s special and coffee. The eggs were fantastic, the home fries were better than usual diner home fries but could have used a little pep, and the sausage was super good. Pancakes were alright, should have asked for butter or blueberries. The service was great. I felt like I was in a true townie bar, unlike in the yuppie places (or even local places) in Brighton center where hipsters rule over the locals.
Prob won’t make a special trip to come here, but from the other reviews if I ordered something less boring than eggs and pancakes I bet I would.

I cannot believe I haven’t been here yet. It is so up my alley. Upon walking in, you are immediately overwhelmed by the mouth-​watering smells coming from the homemade foods. The menu is enormous, you can get both breakfast and lunch. I went during a lunch break and it wasn’t too crowded around 1. I got the The Fusion wrap, which was spicey in all the right ways, with fried onion rings, grilled chicken, grilled peppers, all wrapped up tight like a burrito. It was huge I tell you. So good, finished every last bite. There are literally so many options I need to go back and try more. The guys working clearly could tell it was our first time there, and they were nothing but welcoming and nice. Between the amazing food and excellent service, I will definitely be back.
