We are a Brazilian Jiu-​Jitsu school located in The Bronx, NY. We offer classes for adults and kids in this incredible martial art for self defense and for sport. Our academy is the only Bronx member of the Vitor Shaolin Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Association. As such we represent Professor Vitor Shaolin Ribeiro who comes from the rich tradition of Nova Uniao Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Business Owner

Juan «Junior» Ortega is a lifelong martial artist. From an early age he has sought out the best martial arts instruction NYC offers in order to master his craft. As a teenager, Junior received his Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do but his love for martial arts was not so easily satisfied. In his 20s, Junior found his way to Jeet Kune Do concepts developed by Bruce Lee and promoted by Guro Dan Inosanto. While training in Jeet Kune Do Junior became fascinated by the grappling range of unarmed combat and his love for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu began. Junior’s hard work, humility, commitment, and dedication have helped him earn the rank of Purple Belt and he continues to train regularly under Nova Uniao Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts legend Vitor «Shaolin» Ribeiro. Junior Ortega is Vitor Shaolin’s first Bronx affiliate and member of the Vitor Shaolin Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Association.

Great group of people stop by and check them out. Been by there a few times for the open mat always have good training partners and felt really welcome. Even picked up a few moves from some of the guys. Keep up the great work guys. If your in the bx you should stop by and check theses guys out.

I was on a lunch break from my job in the Westchester Square area and drove by Bronx Jiu Jitsu. I walked in and asked about a open mat day to get a workout for lunch. I was told about their open mat on Sundays afternoons so I stopped by. The mats are clean and they have a decent amount of space. Small locker room but adequate for the space they have. They seem like a humble great group. Their Jiu Jitsu is at a high level and seems to have kids classes. Great place for people from the area or the Bronx to start their bjj training. They are affiliated with Vitor Shaolin.

Best cheapest longest open mat ive ever been to. With a family oriented operation like this going to train feels like going to church. Good guys good fun and tough training. Its also great to have the Japanese jiu jitsu option, it really offers a new prespective to your game. I love it! If your in the bronx stop in.

I gotta say cool guys and all are welcome atmosphere. Don’t hesitate just walk in theres no pressure. I trained with the whole group and even got to roll with the head instructor smooth nice ill be back.

Great environment to step your Jiu-​Jitsu game up! The atmosphere was genuinely open to new faces (mine) the Instructors there are highly skilled and aren’t opposed to rolling with lower skilled practitioners. They offer classes specifically for women and children as well.
My experience there was awesome — invited by one of the instructors (Fernando) to the open mat on Sunday and had the best workout I have had in a long while. They roll non-​stop from 1PM-​4PM and from that experience alone I had a great cardio workout, worked out some of the rust in my game and enjoyed the company of the regular students and instructors during and after open mat.
It’s located near the 6 train and is a clean safe unpretentious place to train hard for seasoned practitioners and a solid gym to start your life of Jiu-​Jitsu.

Great place to get in shape and learn the art of submission grappling. Programs for kids and adults. The sensei’s are really nice people.
