About 2 months ago my engine light came on in my 2002 Honda Odyssey. Reluctantly I started a search to find a repair shop by me. Lucky for me I stumbled upon «First automotive», called set up an appt for next day & crossed my fingers. Dropped off as agreed, less than a hour later I rec’d a call from the mechanic asking me to come back to the shop. I thought «here we go» female, engine light equals $$$ to a mechanic. The total opposite happened, he told me the car was not safe to drive (something I felt while driving) & the work would cost too much money & I should consider putting that $$ into a new car. When I asked him how much did I owe him (he did do a full analysis) & told me things that I knew were wrong for sure, he replied «No charge» he just wanted to make sure my family & I were safe. REALLY!!! wtf. Who was this angel I have been looking for my whole driving life. Honest, caring & knowledgeable mechanics do exist! Thanks First Automative for making me a believer! My new car needs a remote start I will be seeing you soon.

Awesome experience. My brake line broke after a bbq at my boyfriend s brothers house. At first we thought it was easy fix pedal problem. But we left the car on Tuesday.. and we were done by Thursday afternoon. Very pleasant people and VERY fair Price!

I can’t say enough good stuff about these people. The other two reviews were spot on — they will work with you, they will not charge you if they can’t find anything wrong, they will not do major work if you only need minor work, and they will sit down and explain the problem and treat you like a human being. Make an appointment and you will not be sorry!

Was recommended here by some local guys when I first moved up here. Very glad I ended up using it.
These guys are great. I come here for all my oil changes and car troubles (which if you know me, are many). They are always friendly and helpful. Usually really quick as well.
Here’s what I like about them the most:
–When you get something done, you don’t get a laundry list of other stuff you *should* get done, unless you in fact do need it, you can trust these guys.
–They don’t do anything to your car without asking, and they always give you an accurate quote on pricing… that being said, I’ve never been charged more than I was told I was going to get charged.
I agree with Jack A.‘s comment about their reputation possibly exceeding the size of their space. I’ve dropped by for an oil change a few times and they were just way too busy to get me in that day. Not a big deal for me to come by the next day, and if it’s important (your car is spouting demon noises, fire, etc.), they will make their best effort to look at it that day.
I’m a return customer for sure… One of the only auto shops I’ll go to.

I’ve been going to First Group Automotive (formerly Silver Beach Auto) for close to 7 years and I have nothing but praise for this smallish neighborhood shop situated on the outskirts of the Silver Beach community in Throggs Neck.
Anywhere from oil changes to annual inspections, and everything in between, the guys who man this garage have always been professional, pleasant, and knowledgeable. In addition, they have always been fair and reasonable with their estimates, often communicating the problem and diagnosis before any work is to be done.
Personally, I think their reputation has exceeded the size of their space. I believe they only have two lifts for the entire shop, and every time I drop off my car, there’s a number of vehicles already lined up in front of the shop’s entrance. Still, the quality of work and professionalism hasn’t suffered in the least, so whatever they’re doing, they’re doing it right…
…which is why people keep coming back.
