Victor La Gamma Piano Tuning & Repair

I heard about Victor through an old piano teacher. I held on to the phone number for about a year until my mom finally decided that I should really start practicing piano again. So she called him and set up an appointment within just a few days. (Great, now I have to clean my apartment. Thanks for the short notice mom.)
So Victor came over and tuned the piano within an hour. Then he informed us that it had been out of tune not just due to the passage of time, but primarily due to the fact that it was a crappy piano (my words) and many of the pins were very bent. Pins bend over time but mostly because of poor materials and manufacturing. So he was honest with us and told us that any time the piano would be tuned, it would not really hold the tune for long, and that it might be worth getting another piano eventually.
Overall I recommend Victor because
1. He was patient and friendly
2. He was honest about the condition of the piano
3. He had good rates compared to other tuners in the Bronx/​Westchester area
4. He survived my mom’s questions and comments (wow!)
5. He was efficient and professional
6. He was recommended by my former teacher, who is a professional musician.
(Side note: I believe he is located in Westchester but travels to NYC also. I am not sure if the Bronx address or phone number is current, but he is reachable at 914−723−2200.)
Finally, I can play my piano without cringing!
