Cakes To Remember

I will make sure to tell everyone I know how awful customer service this place has!
I have my boyfriend birthday coming up and wanted to order a cake for this occasion, I waked to Cakes to Remember shop because I live near by to ask about the prices and what kind of shapes they can make, there were two ladies standing in front of the door inside, one of them looked at me and walked inside! And the other lady seems not interested to talk to me at all! I start asking about their prices and sizes, she was so quick to reply that she is busy today! And when said I’m just here to know more about the cakes shapes because I have a birthday coming up! She replied oh Friday is our busiest day in the week!!! What an awesome service!

Our wedding cake was absolutely delicious and beautiful! My husband cannot eat gluten so we searched for a bakery that could provide a gluten-​free option for the two of us and «regular» cake for the rest of our guests. Ellen does not just offer gluten-​free cake — she takes pride in making GF cake that is just as good as «regular» cake! My husband was thrilled that he would be able to fully enjoy our wedding cake. (We did the the top tier GF and the remaining tiers as «regular» cake.) Ellen was an absolute pleasure to work with. For example, when I asked whether she thought a particular cake topper would work, she took the time to sketch out how it would look on the cake design I had chosen.

I worked with Ellen to get a birthday cake from here and she was so kind and professional. She really knows what she’s doing and the cake was so beautiful. Both myself and my guests were in complete awe of just how detailed and stunning my cake was. I genuinely think Ellen is the best cake maker and designer in MA. I definitely plan on getting future cakes from her.

Ordered my son’s Viking cake from here and it was beautiful! We even kept the boat in case we need it for future parties. ;) Highly recommended.

Ellen did such a fantastic job with our cake. I was looking for something with more a hipster twist, and Ellen came through. We had a lovely white cake with milk chocolate filling, and dark chocolate frosting, with ivory fondant polka dots. Everyone raved about how great it tasted, and it was so beautiful, I hardly wanted to even cut it.
I would recommend Ellen in a heartbeat. So sweet, and so willing to make something work within your budget and size of your wedding.

We booked the Fairmont Copley Plaza for our wedding venue and the package includes a wedding cake from Cakes to Remember! I was so excited as I heard their cakes look beautiful and taste delicious. Ellen was so helpful at our cake consultation, making sure our design of the cake went along with our wedding theme/​colors. After trying many of the cake flavors, we settled on two flavors to fluctuate upon each layer of cake. When I saw the cake setup at our wedding reception, I was so excited and amazed at how beautiful the cake was. I continued to hear rave reviews from our wedding guests on the cake throughout the entire evening.

We used them for our wedding cake in 1999, so I don’t know how the business has evolved since then, but it was simply an amazing cake. Beautiful and delicious, and I’m super-​picky about desserts (I love cake, but find most cakes too sweet and goopy).
We saved the top tier and ate it on our 1^st wedding anniversary. It held up amazingly well.
If your wedding has the budget for this place, it’s worth it.

We got our wedding cake from Ellen at Cakes to Remember. It was beautiful, very creative, fun, delivered on time, reasonably priced. Our guests loved it, they all commented on how impressive it was and how tasty. We are very happy.

When we gasped at the exhorbitant price of Ellen’s wedding cakes, she became rude and dismissive and ushered us out. My daughter, the bride, was in tears. STAY AWAY!

A couple of years ago, before I got started Unilocaling, I drove at top speed to make an appointment with Ellen at Cakes To Remember. I got there a couple of minutes late, rushed through the door, and was asked what I was doing there…
Apparently Ellen had read my email, approved the date I requested a tasting, and never noticed that it was a day earlier than the day of the week she booked tastings for. So, she had nothing prepared for me, and thought I was crazy. She was rude and denied emphatically that she’d made any mistake. I left, and checked her off as a «NO» for my wedding cake.
The next day, while I met with a photographer but before I met with a florist, she called. She looked over our email communications and realized I had the correct date. She told me I could come in then to have my tasting. Wrong, Ellen. You were scheduled for the day before, and I had 2 photographers, 2 florists, and a venue to see that day. You were my last priority.
As a professional, you need to be able to do the basics, like read your calender, so that you can schedule appointments accordingly. Being accusatory to potential clients when they arrived for their scheduled tasting because you don’t know what day of the week a certain date falls on will you lose business, no matter how talented you are.

This is the place to go for a wedding cake or a cake for a very special occasion. My husband and I ordered our Red Sox themed wedding cake here and it was perfect in every way — it looked amazing and was absolutely delicious. Ellen, the owner, works with each couple and provides the most personal attention to make sure your wedding day is perfect. This is really the place to go.

Poor Doris. Cakes To Remember doesn’t make small cakes. And a tasting for a cake for 30 people wouldn’t be worth all the trouble. Ellen made my wedding cake, 3 tier chocolate with purple orchids, I couldn’t wait for our year anniversary to eat the frozen top. My brothers wedding cake was a very beautiful as well, formal fondant that was the center piece of the event. Her work is outstanding and she really is booked in advance because of the high demand. If you are thinking about a cake from Ms. Bartlettt’s shop, book it now.

Cakes to Remember is the one small gem hidden in the despicable wedding industry.
Ellen (the owner/​chef) is a pleasure to work with, gives fabulous ideas outside of just flavor combos (such as plating my dessert and cake together at the hotel — very pretty).
Everyone LOVED the cake, I had people telling me for weeks after how tasty it was.
She is very honest with her business, in touch, easily accessible by phone and email. Not to mention, her work is OUTSTANDING. Very detail oriented. Lots of ideas and designs to choose from. SHE IS GREAT.

This is the first time that I have simply been speechless while writing a review. So let me start by saying that I have not tried Cakes to Remember. What happened was I called for a cake tasting for my coworker and me since we are getting married. The lady asked for when the wedding dates were and after I told her that one would be for Columbus Day weekend she said that they were booked. Then after I told her that my friend only needed a cake for 30 people since it is going to be a very small wedding. Her response was that the only way that they would take another cake order is if it was a large one and that they have a minimum of $ 500. My problem isn’t the fact that I think that they are overpriced, but the fact that you just told me you were booked solid. Wouldn’t a smaller cake be easier to make than a big one? Wouldn’t you spend less time making the smaller cake than a large one?
I’m writing my review because I really didn’t like the way that they do business. Sure, I understand that you would earn more money by doing the big cake but the fact that they made me feel like a small cake wasn’t even worth their time really irks me. So goodbye Cakes to Remember, I won’t be using you for my wedding.
