Pretty upset about my experience here. The salon and staff seemed very nice but the end result of my hair was actually horrific. I bought a Groupon for a balayage treatment, wanting to touch up my existing highlights for summer. I made an appointment based on good reviews and came with a few inspiration photos and instructions about what I wanted, added dimension in my existing highlights, to get rid of brassiness and make the color flow better. The stylist seemed confident and told me I would have to add a gloss toner coat to my groupon (extra $ 40) to my package to nix brassiness which was fine. I still had brassiness after the gloss coat and she said she would do again for free if I was unhappy with the tone in a month which I thought was very nice. I tipped over 20% because I thought the stylist was incredibly accommodating but when I got home, I noticed that the color was almost a solid line of bleach and looked very unnatural in sunlight. I emailed her photos and she was very apologetic and offered to have me come in to correct it that weekend. When I came in, she added lowlights and additional highlights with the intention of making more dimension and breaking up the line. She did another gloss coat and said the whole thing was comped, which was nice but also expected. I worked out and showered that night and have truly never been more embarrassed and scared of my hair and I have once been the victim of a stylist dying my hair carrot orange before. I emailed again to see what she could do (with photos) and she offered to single process over it for free because she wanted me to be happy with it, but I knew that I would have to do a color correction to repair the crazy uneven colors in my hair. I have worn a hat for the last 3 days. I reached out to a friend at bumble and bumble but he didn’t have availability for some time, so I went back to the stylist to see when/​what she could do with a color correction. She offered to charge me $ 150 to do a double process to fix the mess she created. Actually bananas to me. Thank god my friend had a cancellation and is able to fit me in this week, but it is still going to cost another $ 200 to have normal hair. The only reason I’m not naming names is because she is a decent person, but this 1 star review is warranted based on outcome alone.

I have only had three people cut my hair in my whole life, so I usually do a ton of reviews before going somewhere. I orginally had an appointment at a salon down the street from Scott J. Aveda’s Salon. However, when I got their the staff was incredibly rude, had overbooked, and couldn’t take me. I had a few hours to kill in Brooklyn before meeting up with friends so on a whim I googled salons near by and Scott J. Aveda’s Salon came up. Marlo and Casey were beyond friendly and accommodating. I walked in at 12:30 very frustrated and probably slightly rude unintentionally and they were able to get me in by 1:00. They apologized on the other salon’s behalf and made sure I was treated correctly after my horrible experience. I did not have enough time to get my hair colored as I was originally planning, but Marlo gave me an amazing cut. I have a tough time going to new people because I find they cut it much shorter than I want. She asked me what exactly I wanted and gave me a step by step of what she was doing BEFORE she did it to make sure I was on board with the style. She gave me a few great tips for blow drying my hair as well. I had a great time sitting in her chair, just chatting like we were two friends catching up. I will DEFINITELY be back. We talked about the color I want to get done. She volunteered to come in to help accommodate my work schedule as well. The salon was so clean, all the staff was so friendly, and my horrible morning actually turned into a great one. The hair cut was affordable even without a groupon. I HIGHLY suggest going to this salon and if you can get an appointment with Marlo DO. My hair never can hold a curl, and she blew it out/​curled it beautifully and it lasted ALL day.

I’ve been super nervous about booking a haircut anywhere especially with New York prices but I Desperately needed a haircut as mine was badly out of shape and very long i went on Unilocal and after seeing the amazing reviews and checking the prices I booked in. I thought I might feel uncomfortable as the salon feels pretty upscale but immediately the lady on reception (whose name I’ve forgotten) made me super comfortable and was the sweetest! I got my cut with Pucci (they got me in an hour after I asked for an appointment yay). And I’ve come away with the best haircut I’ve ever had! Pucci understood exactly what I wanted and gave me a better result than I hoped for. The lady doing my shampoo was great too. I’ll definitely go back and have Pucci do my hair again can’t recommend her enough!

Love this salon, I found it a few years ago and have been so happy with my hair since then. I see Marlo usually, but have seen Taj once, and my hair is always amazing. The scalp, hand and shoulder massage during shampooing is so relaxing and the products they use smell so good it practically puts me to sleep. Marlo is a dream, she is an amazing stylist and is so funny and friendly, we talk the whole time and before I know it my hair is done. After getting cuts from her for a while, I just stared getting color done as well and I have gotten non stop compliments. I cannot recommend this salon enough! Try it and you will love it!

I’m giving this salon 3 stars because they have great customer service and the environment is clean and friendly. However, I was super disappointed with my haircut. I have thick, curly, long hair and not every stylist knows how to cut it and style it properly and that’s okay, but you need to be honest. My haircut was uneven. The layers were basically non existent. I had a triangular Christmas tree type shape happening with no volume on top and frizzy ends. Normally it takes me 10 minutes to style my hair and it looks perfect with minimal product but after this cut, I had to spend over a half hour styling it to bring volume to the roots and to curl the ends. In a nutshell, as sweet and friendly as my stylist was, she did a very poor job. She was a junior stylist but that shouldn’t mean that she can’t do a good cut. I just had my hair cut at a different salon (and it looks perfect) and the stylist was perplexed by the choices the Aveda stylist made, and that’s putting it nicely. I also paid less than I paid at Aveda (though I think that’s more of a neighborhood issue as everything costs less in Sheepshead Bay and Bensonhurst) for a master stylist. I would come back to this salon for treatments and possibly color, but never again a haircut.

A friend gave me a 20% off coupon and I DESPERATELY needed a cut (my short hair had grown into a mullet situation), so I decided to try this location. They took me THAT DAY and my stylist, Pucci, was so great! I wanted a chin length haircut that could stand on its own with my very straight hair or that I could curl. Pucci did the cut, blow-​dried and styled it straight — I was nervous that it was still too long and I wasn’t thrilled with it. She then curled all of my hair to show me what it would look like (since that’s how I usually styled my hair) and I realized that it was still too long. She remained so patient with me talking through options and after all of that she cut about an inch more off the back making it absolutely perfect. I SO appreciated her essentially giving me 2 haircuts and remaining so patient AND I absolutely love the cut. THANK YOU PUCCI! I will be coming back!

Really, really impressed by Aveda’s BK Heights location. I came in for the first time this morning for a basic cut using a Groupon voucher and left feeling like I was a well treated regular. Having bounced around from salon to salon over the past few years, this was an unexpected and very welcome experience.
FOH toweled me off and grabbed me tea after showing up cold and wet from the rain. Brian provided an awesome shampoo/​conditioner/​hand massage (bonus point for having chairs with comfortable head/​neck rests). And Yelina gave me a versatile but low maintenance lob cut (lady knows her stuff!).
Great service and hospitality all around. Will definitely be back!

I had such a great experience at aveda with Marlo! She was sweet, thoughtful, attentive, and — most importantly– did an incredible job on my highlights and cut! After a thorough consultation, she created a lovely ash blonde color for me that brightened me up, but still looked natural. She also explained everything she did step-​by-​step so that I could see that the styling that she did would be easy to recreate at home. I don’t think I have ever walked out of salon feeling so confident and happy with my hair and I will absolutely return!

Kaitlin did my color (and cut) and I could not be more pleased with how it turned out. It was a very, very detailed and lengthy process but she made sure I was okay every step of the way. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she legitimately NAILED it. She’s incredible. If you want some unconventional color, she’s someone I would definitely recommend. It was pleasant and enjoyable from start to finish, and the end product was exactly what I had hoped for.

Amazing !!! So I am super picky about hair stylist i have very thick long hair and most hair stylist minus my most favorite (who lives 300+ miles away) go crazy with the amount of hair I have and leave me looking a damn mess BUT not Taj!!! He is officially my new hair stylist honestly he is a hidden gem for me since I took a shot in the dark when i walked in and asked for a hair cut today with no prior research which is very unlike me… so needless to say I am super happy with the hair cut and style taj listened to everything I wanted and also gave me some suggestions… so to get to the point I highly highly recommend this place and the staff is super sweet and friendly and a very clean environment!!!

My aunt referred me so I got 20% and I’m so happy that I went! Roxy did my hair– she’s a sweetie and overall the service was GREAT! I will definitely stick with this salon.
Roxy washed my hair and used a treatment (all organic products). She used a hot towel while the treatment settled and also massaged my hands and shoulders. I got a trim and blow out. The tea is so goooood!
Will return in about 6 – 8 weeks for another trim and treatment with Roxy! ^_^

I went to this salon after reading the great reviews and felt compelled to add another to help the next person along.
I was craving a big change but didn’t know exactly what would work, and Marlo was amazing at helping figure it out. She was not afraid of my very thick hair (like many of my prior stylists have been) and encouraged me to try something new if I wanted to. She also went above and beyond to make sure I liked the cut after leaving the salon. That’s something that I think so many stylists forget. She taught me different ways to style it (without pushing any one product) and gave me her email address if I had questions. When I did reach out with a question, she invited me back to take another look. I felt really listened to and in good hands the whole time. I will definitely go back to Marlo for my next appointment. And I should mention that I love my new short cut!

Roxy is my new go– to girl! I have had long curly hair my whole life and was wanting a new shorter do. I was naturally very anxious and nervous since I usually get my hair trimmed only once a year and I have never been to this salon before. I felt super comfortable with Roxy though, she was very attentive to what I was asking of her, nurturing, and professional. She gave me tips to take care of my hair and walked me through the process of what she was doing! Upon walking into the salon, the receptionist hung my coat and offered me tea. I was treated to a hand massage, neck and shoulder massage, and make– up touch up (which is included in every service!) it was very relaxing. I love my new hair. Thank you Roxy!!!

I’ve been to this salon twice and both experiences were amazing. The first and second time I had Taj as a stylist. I explained to him the damage that I did to my hair throughout the years and he recommended shampoos and conditioners and other helpful tips to healthy hair. The first time I got a trim and blow out and 6 weeks later I got another trim and blow out. My hair grew 3 inches since the first time, and I was very pleased! The customer service is great, and their complimentary tea was greatly appreciated. Taj is a great stylist; knowledgeable and skilled. The shampoos and conditioners helped my hair a lot :)

They are super nice and generally know what they are doing. The only reason I’m taking one star off is, I had my hair colored and I told them that my best friend was doing my hair for 20 yrs now and she always leaves the color on the roots longer. It looked good in the salon but when I got home instead of brown, my hair was tinted with red and I redid it myself and now it’s brown. I asked my friend why would it go red and she said they had to add something in order to keep my hair brown with out the tint. I’ll come back for haircuts for sure!

Thinking of a big change? Marlo is your girl! I recently chopped off about 12 inches to donate to Pantene Beautiful Lengths, and Marlo did such an amazing job. She really knows how to teach you to style your new do, and it’s so easy! I’ve been so attached to my long hair since I was a little girl. It was a big part of my female identity. That being said, I needed a change and donating my hair was the perfect way to feel good about my new style. From the amazing tea and hand massage, up till the end result and big reveal. Marlo is wonderful and Scott J in Brooklyn is the best salon I’ve been to yet!!!

The facility is only a little over a year old. The vibe is very chic and posh, but the staff is so friendly and chill. I was instantly greeted by the front desk staff and checked in. She took my coat and luckily, my hairstylist was ready for me.
Btw, prior to my appointment, I did everything online. I highly recommend this. If you have an issue with paying half up front then maybe not? I suggest doing it online because it’s instant and easy. (First time customers I believe receive 20% off). Overall price is not bad at all — less than I usually pay for.
Mind you, I have been very weary and nervous about finding a new hairstylist. Your hair is very important and the last time I went to get a haircut in NY I was super unhappy and disappointed, however because my friend referred Marlo, I took a chance and I am so glad that I did. I did my research on her as well and saw the great feedback on her, so it encouraged me that I made the right decision!
Marlo did the works for me. I was contemplating between bangs or a lob and shared inspiration photos via Pintrest. She fiddled with my hair and can tell I had texture and it was thick. She was very informative in what she was going to do, step-​by-​step. In the process of drying my hair, she also suggested products and how-to’s with styling and ways to prevent heat damage to my hair. This is a plus!!!
I love it when a hairstylist also is knowledgable about your face shape because it is helpful when you are trying to go for a certain hairstyle and it’s flattering for your face or nah. She definitely encouraged me to have slight side-​swept bangs to frame my face. She called them the Chanel C’s hahaha!
To end this lengthy review, I had a great first-​time experience here and I am so thankful for Marlo for being so patient with my nervous ass. The process of finding your go-​to hairstylist is very exhausting and I am so glad that I found a keeper! YAY!

I’ve been to many, many spectacular Aveda salons. But, this one didn’t have the service and the precision of care with color that I’ve had done in Manhattan. My highlights stopped mid way through my hair. Management is nice, but I don’t want it redone at the place where it was not done correctly in the first place.
Hair cuts are done well here, though. And they walk you through how to recreate the style during it.
