Love them! My moms Guyanese so I’ve been familiar with tanks place my whole life. Now, my church loves their cakes for every occasion! And Nigerians can be hard to please. I love Allan’s!

Horrible horrible service. Went in to pick up a few treats and used my card. They charge $ 2.00 for credit/debit card purchases! That is so damned illegal and i am shocked that they are allowed to get away with this. When I questioned it, the woman at the counter told me that they have to pay for each swipe. WTF?! yes. that’s why you are a business with a credit card processing account. That is part of your operational costs. You don’t charge your customers for that. She also stated that their prices were much lower than they should be…$ 10 for a small piece of cake is a low price? In a dinky place like that? It’s not like their pastries are good, they are subpar. The coconut tart has so much preservatives that my entire mouth got itchy after eating it. I threw out a $ 24 bag of pastries because of this. This place is horrible and I will NEVER patronize them again. Beware people, beware!

All the times I have gone to Allan’s, I have had great customer service. My daughter’s birthday cake was made by Allan’s. I love their beef and chicken patties. The best I have tasted as it is seasoned to perfection. Fruit cake is good as well, fish cakes, and the yellow cake is everything. I always make sure to go to Allan’s if I am in Brooklyn or if my partner is in Brooklyn.

Cake cake cake cake… sing along. It’s so good to be entering the house of Allan. Can we get an amen? This establishment isn’t miserly with ingredients. If something is made with coconut, trust that there is coconut… Like the coconuts are picked from the trees in the bakery. The currant rolls are jam packed with currant. You would think there is an electrician in there putting the«currant» in the rolls. Beef, chicken, fish patties all stuffed and guaranteed to stuff you. Tarts, pies, puddings, bread of different shapes, sizes and flours. Cakes of different colors. Black, red, yellow… Need a cake for a celebration? Call and place an order or simply walk in and it can be decorated on the spot. Don’t try that close to major holidays because you might be lucked out… It gets crazy during these times.

I came in here looking for a dessert to take to a dinner party. There aren’t many options for that, but they have loads of options for breakfast pastries. I’d come again for sure, especially for the currant rolls!

Much like the other Caribbean folk I’ve been getting baked goods here for as long as I could remember. Naturally currant rolls are always in my bag when I leave. Sometimes they don’t have enough currants in the rolls for my liking but it’s always delicious. When they just come out the oven it’s the best experience in the world. Pretty sure there will be currant rolls in heaven. The guava turnovers are low key really good too.

Ive been coming here since i could barely see out the back seat of my moms car window. This is her go to place for bread and currant rolls. She would stop here for baked bread every week when i was a child and now i stop and grab my goodies. The fried Bake: has some sugar in it. Gives the bake a sweet taste when you bite in it and taste the salt fish. Yes its that good. When I stop by i always buy ALL the bake and salt fish they have left. Theres a party in my mouth when i eat their bake and salt fish. Its delicious! The Currant Rolls: Just the right amount of raisins and its always fresh. If you prefer end pieces they will give you that too. I like the middle(theres more raisins) and some like the end because its bigger. The Bread: Remember when you were young back home or in this country and you’d wake up to your granny making bread. Especially around the holidays… The first thing you’d do is break the end piece and hide to eat it. Their bread is that good. You can ride home and eat the entire loaf before you get to even put it on your counter. Butter isn’t needed. But it adds to the flavor. Do not eat here everyday. its addictive! Best TRINI bakery hands down in Brooklyn!

I’ve been coming to Allan’s for years, literally since I was around 9. Even though I live in MD it was routine for us to make New York trips a few times a year. We would come to Allan’s for the Hardo bread and went to Conrad’s for their current rolls. The game plan was to stock up and freeze most of our order because you just couldn’t find as good Caribbean bakeries at the time. The whole car ride home smelled amazing. I’d say about 10 years ago we switched and started picking up all our baked goods from Allan’s, everything from Hardo and current rolls, to coconut drops, pull aparts(sweet buns), coconut rolls etc. Everything I’ve ever had for here has been really good. My only heads up is be prepared for a line that is worth the wait, I’d guess I usually wait around 10 – 15 on average. The place hasn’t changed in years. Prices are fair and the baked goods are tasty, what more can you ask for?

Definitely the best retro Caribbean bakery in Brooklyn, always packed the line is long and a childhood favorite bakery of mine. Their signature bakery item is the currant rolls, they are the best and I love coconut buns too. My only negative is although it’s retro and the format hasn’t changed for years, it could do with some upgraded to help accommodate more people.

Traditional go to bakery if you are from the caribbean, it’s local and the baked goods are delicious. They make the best current rolls in the world. They also have beef and chicken patties which I find to be quite tasty. Birthday cakes from here are must in my family, any occasion to celebrate a cake always comes from Allan’s. I think the secret ingredient is almond essence. Some days the line is long and the temperament is short. All in all, this is the spot.

I’ve been meaning to add my voice to the chorus of Allan’s devotees! Everything about this place is outstanding. I feel so fortunate to live near long standing, welcoming small business that serves delicious and food made on the premises to such a huge community. They are efficient and offer web based ordering services and advance orders without sacrificing customer service and face to face connections. I especially love the chicken patties and red velvet cake. I had my first taste of a variety of Caribbean treats from Allan’s. May this bakery, which has been in operation since 1961, thrive for a long time yet to come.

Current rolls, coconut rolls, pineapple cake, fresh bread, hard– dough bread ! Oh my! It’s all soo good! Makes me peckish just thinking about it. These and all other baked goods can be found at Allan’s Bakery. I have frequented this place since I was a wee little one and it hasn’t changed a bit ! A go to place for West Indians and all those who love baked goods for decades!

Regular currant rolls you eat right away. Whole wheat currant rolls you can save for later. Took me a while to realize. Cant go wrong with either choice tho. #CurrantRolls4Life

This place would get 10 stars if possible. Came here for the first time with a longtime, devoted customer and trust me it lived to the hype… and this trip was planned over 2 weeks in advance! The beef patty on display had apparently been there for a while so the employee went back to the heated vault/display case(?) and gave us the fresher one instead. We didn’t even ask, he just patted it down and felt that it was perhaps the slightest of stale. And then another 1000 bonus points because he noticed that I took a long time to order. He asked if it was my first time. When I confirmed that it was, he asked, «Chicken or codfish?» And he immediately grabbed a chicken patty — on the house! Have you ever heard of service this good? Especially in a neighborhood staple, mecca, that doesn’t need to do anything else to add to its legacy dating back to 1941? A resounding NO. But they go above and beyond anyway. Will be returning on the regular.

One of the best bakeries I have ever been to. My family has been buying and ordering currants rolls as well as hardo bread and other baked goods from them for 30 years, both when they lived there and moved away. They are the standard when it comes to Caribbean baked goods. Lines out the door, but they take and fulfill orders efficiently. Family run. Delicious flaky pattys as well, especially my favorite spinach and fish. A must stop whenever we go back to visit New York City. UPDATE: I was in town 8÷25÷15 to visit family and friends and was able to get over to Allans for 3 dozen currants rolls, Hardo bread, and a dozen veggie patties and codfish patties. They are still as good as ever.

If you are Caribbean/West Indian and from Brooklyn or even if you were raised in Flatbush, then you better know about ALLAN’S BAKERY!!! I’ve been a customer since my freshman year of high school(that was ages ago) and will continue to be. The red velvet cake has NEVER disappointed. It’s moist, flavorful, and the frosting is to die for. I also get the currant rolls and patties!!! And don’t forget the bun and cheese for Easter. Recently I had the wheat currant rolls, not used to it, but it definitely didn’t disappoint. Everything here is always fresh. Allan’s plays a very strong roll in the Caribbean community. And if it was left up to me, it’d be a landmark. The staff is friendly, courteous, and makes sure you leave satisfied. Allan’s gets five stars from me.

Growing up a West Indian Brooklynite, treats from Allen’s Bakery were a staple in my childhood. Bun and cheese on Easter, current rolls, coco drops, birthday cakes, and bakes, all made my youth that much sweeter. Allen’s goodness keeps me coming back; I’m happy to see that they continues to dole out spectacular baked goods. They even make whole wheat current rolls(first time I’ve seen this), which are scrumptious. Everything is fresh and made in house, which adds to the charm. I’ll love them forever!

This would be a five star review if I was West Indian and knew what to order. I went on a Sunday around five, and pretty much everything was off the shelves. And what wasn’t off the shelves was frantically being ordered by the other patrons. There was a variety of breads and cheeses familiar to those previously residing in the Caribbean. Anyhoo, I ordered the red velvet cake. It was alright. I thought it tasted kind of dry and the frosting was quite regular. But, I think if I knew what to order, like the rest of the patrons obviously did, I’d have a drastically different experience.
