Dorit is an amazing broker! Definitely a breath of fresh air in the NYC housing market. I was interested in a rental and did everything in her power to ensure that the deal met my needs. She’s quick, responsive, and is very flexible.

Dorit is the BEST! Like others, I was skeptical at first because she is an independent operator but I think thats only because I’ve just been so conditioned to not trust brokers/​realtors as I’ve been burned before.
But let me tell you, she is a straight shooter and has a ton of great properties to show. I responded to a craigslist ad on a Friday night and I signed a lease by Monday afternoon. It was super fast & painless.
I hope to be in my new apt for a long time, but if I ever need to move, Dorit is the first person I’m calling.

I was pressed to find an apartment in time to start a new job within 2 weeks. I took a day trip to view apartments in town and was so glad to work with Dorit. She was understanding and responsive, quickly scheduling a time to view apartments.
Dorit knows Brooklyn well and was a wealth of information about the different neighborhood grocery stores, restaurants, and cafes as she drove me around to view apartments. I immediately knew I wanted one of the studios, and Dorit went out of her way to make sure the whole process was efficient and finalized by the end of the day. A week later, Dorit welcomed me into my new home!

I was searching for an apartment for about 1 – 2 months, and quickly noticed that going through the large brokerage firms (Corcoran, etc) would cost approximately double what we paid through avidar. We worked with Dorit and I’ll explain the process. All in all, everything was done in about 3 days (would have been less if done during the week).
We met with Dorit in the evening after work and couldn’t believe the size apartment we were looking at for the price/​location (Park Slope). Not going to lie… we were a bit skeptical at first for 2 reasons: 1) Dorit is an independent broker, so you don’t have the 4 second google search that can put your mind at ease and 2) b/​c she’s an independent broker, the first months rent was requested about 5 minutes after meeting with her. So. Why was a check requested prior to any paper work/​leases being signed? It’s a showing of good faith when an independent broker proves that the first months rent is in the form of a cashiers check. Building owners are free to go through whoever they want to get rid of inventory, so if you are hesitant to provide a check, you will lose the apartment!!! It is a ton of money to give to someone you just met, but I can assure you, it’s legit.
So. After we gave her all the paper work and cashiers check for first months rent, Dorit kept us in the loop from the second we stepped out the door. I got calls, texts, and emails for the better part of 2 – 3 days. On day 3, we met with the landlord and signed the lease. And the best part is, we only paid a fee = 1 month of rent (about 50% less than going through a larger firm). I will go through Dorit/​Avidar Realty for as long as I stay in Bk!!! :)

So many good things to share!
Here’s why I loved my experience, and why you will too:
1.) When Dorit and I first spoke, she made time for me immediately and we met up within 45 min of our conversation. This made me feel like a big priority right off the bat.
2.) When we met in person, Dorit was friendly and helpful. She answered all my questions, and made me feel comfortable throughout the process.
3.) I decided to put down a deposit, but then unfortunately realized I wouldn’t be able to take the apt afterall. I called Dorit to explain the situation. Not only was she understanding, but she actually supported me and expressed sympathy for my situation.
4.) She sent back my deposit immediately (!), and kept me posted on when she mailed it, etc, so that I would know what was going on. This was really exciting. To find someone not only willing to send me back my deposit, but someone who offered to send it back, and followed through with doing it.
She proved herself as truly trustworthy and wonderful throughout this experience, and I want to support her with finding lots of business as a result! Though I wasn’t able to get an apt with her this time around, I know who to turn to in the future. And anyone else who works with her is very lucky! Dorit is a true gem.
