Robert and his staff are amazing! You can’t beat the service you get here for the price. I don’t live in the neighborhood, but I make the trip to get my haircut here because it’s definitely worth the extra effort.
If you live in the area, or you’re just visiting, go here… you will not be disappointed.

Used to come here all the time. When they started, it was a great establishment. I don’t know what happened… Robert and Bulat and Tatiana are all very nice and talented, but the transient barbers are garbage and only getting worse:
I stopped coming when one of the male barbers, who doesn’t seem to be there anymore, rushed through my (terrible) haircut, and didn’t give me a hot towel, even though he took his time and gave hot towels to the previous client and the one after me, who are both white. I am visibly not white. I couldn’t help but feel like it was personal and I stopped coming here. Maybe I was wrong (sometimes I like giving a benefit of the doubt), but it left a really bad taste in my mouth and I wasn’t going to waste time on a shop that operates like that.
I visited again recently because I was in the area. But the barber cut me behind me ear with her scissors and didn’t tell me. I had to find out after, back at my office, when I was cleaning some hair off my ears and I noticed dried blood on my paper towel. Really awful feeling from going back to a barbershop I used to love and respect. Not to mention the strands of hair she missed on my side burns, making it look like I got a haircut with a pair of gardening sheers.
Robert, I love you and the original hairstylists, but please be more careful with who you hire, because I can only assume you will be losing more loyal customers like me.

Local DUMBO Barbershop with great service — I’ve been coming here for 2.5 years. Haircut and Beard trim combo is best deal. Robert and his staff are always nice — it gets busy on Saturday’s but it’s worth the wait.

Do your facial hair a favor.
Great atmosphere, warm vibe and most importantly, talented staff makes Barber on Pearl an absolute go-​to for me. I would like to point out the fantastic beard trim + haircut i got from Kek (sorry if i’m spelling this wrong). He was friendly, and he was quick to understand I was just making a maintenance-​visit, and he did a great job.
I live close by, i’ll be there again, soon.

Robert & Tatiana are the best. They have never disappointed. I have waited four weeks or more to get a haircut when I am traveling through the hinterlands so I can get back to Barber on Pearl for a reliable haircut.

This was the first and will be the ONLY place I get my hair cut in NYC. I would make special trips to DUMBO just to get my haircut by Robert or any of the other talented barbers at this not-​so-​secret spot.
The whole experience is worth every penny, and you won’t spend a lot of pennies here. For less than $ 20 (without tip) you get a sweet haircut, a hot-​lather neck shave and a hot towel on the face. Great on cold days when you’re dragging and want to perk back up.
Pro Tip: avoid going on weekends and evenings if you want to avoid a wait. I’m lucky to have a work schedule that allows me to be available during those off-​peak hours. Most of the time I walk right in and sit down. That said, waiting here isn’t that bad at all. It’s nice to just sit and drop out of the NYC workweek hustle for a bit.
Do yourself a favor and go check this place out.

The atmosphere is very comfortable and the hair stylist /​barbers are very friendly and welcoming, overall it is a nice place to go get your hair cut for both men and woman .
The prices are reasonable also

First time visit and I’ll definitely be back. Based on reviews I read, I came in looking for Robert, who was out that day. Bulat cut my hair instead. Great cut, attentive to detail, and he was very consultative in his approach. Too many guys would buzz first and ask later. Not Bulat. The loyalty card is the icing on the cake!

Awesome. Been twice from out if town. Just the best and value able cut out there.
There are just some things you get in NYC that you can’t get anywhere else, a great inexpensive haircut is one!

I love this place. Have been getting my hair cut here for over 2 years. I’m very picky and they do a great job every time. You can’t beat the prices either.

Been here abour 6 – 7 times. Definitely a fan of this place and the prices. My most recent experience was not the best, but i would go again avoiding one of the barbers. Review is below
I’m new to the area so i’ve been trying all the barbers here. They all have different styles, but i have always been a fan except for today. I could tell from the get-​go that my new barber wasn’t a native english speaker, but at that time i thought she understood me. After her first sheer, i could tell that this haircut wasn’t meant to be. She cut my hair a little too short too high-​up. I feel like i got a buzz cut, and i told her i wasn’t too happy. She was going to fix it, but i didn’t trust her and rather i just grow it out and deal with it rather then look like a cabbage patch kid
Robert is the man though. i told him i wasn’t happy with it and he didn’t charge me. I’ve gotten a lot of good cuts here, i will definitely return, although not to the same lady who cut me today.

A great cut for a great price. I’ve had Robert and a number of his fellow barbers cut my hair, and it’s been good each time. You can walk in without an appointment and typically be taken care of pretty quickly. The barbers take their time to make sure you get exactly what you want, which is nice considering how rushed some other shops can be. For $ 20, I have yet to find anyone else in the area who does as good a job.

Absolutely love this place. I’ve been going here for about a year and a half after sampling an array of different shops. Robert and his staff are all friendly and great at cutting hair — what else do you need from a barber shop? The occasional free shot/​beer is a big perk. They really value their customers, especially repeat visitors.
I highly recommend this place for anyone in Brooklyn or who is willing to make the commute for a great cut.

This is the best barbershop in Brooklyn. I’ve been going here for years. Every customer, new or regular, is greeted warmly. The music is always nice, not too loud, not too soft. The barbers always make you look sharp. I see the same barber, and try to go every three weeks.
I get a haircut (typically with scissors), a beard trim (they are EXCELLENT at keeping my beard looking neat), and a shave.
I always leave feeling relaxed and looking sharp. If you need a haircut, go here; they’ll get you in and out as fast as they can, but without rushing or you feeling rushed. If you have time, get a shave, too. They know how to do it right.

Robert and his team of Barbers are a wonderful group of people. Not only is my shave and cut perfect every time, but the environment is always welcoming and friendly. I have never seen Robert fail to individually welcome every customer that walks through his doors.
In terms of my shave and cut, Robert knows exactly what I want every time, and even remembers how my shave changes from season to season. Between his various lotions, oils, hot shaving cream, multiple hot towels, and various beard conditioners, Robert takes every step of a proper shave with great care. Even with my particularly sensitive skin, Robert never leaves me irritated and even gives me a special lotion just for my brutally sensitive skin.
I literally cannot find one thing to complain about. Robert is a great guy and an even greater barber who truly loves what he does, and the results show it.

As a regular customer at Robert Isakov’s ‘Barber on Pearl’ for nearly two years, I felt it time to give praise that is long overdue. Upon entering the shop, you are warmly greeted by Isakov or one of his 4 – 5 hair-​cutters on site. If no chairs are open, plush, leather chairs and couches line the waiting area. Wait times vary, but with 5 (or 6) chairs, even the post-​5 pm work rush doesn’t seem too long.
Once you’re in the chair, your cut will be expertly tailored to your liking, as the cutters ask your preferences — length, clipper/​scissor and styling instructions. In my experience with Robert and Bulat, both work meticulously and efficiently. Conversations are warm and personal. At the conclusion of your cut, a neck shave and hot towel face/​scalp massage leave you feeling refreshed and ready to take on the bustling city in which we reside.
From there, a complimentary shot (or two) of «Russian (white) tea» is offered as a parting gift of hospitality. «Teas» range in flavor and place of origin, but mainly consist of locally distilled quaffs.
Beginning to end, the Barber on Pearl experience is second-​to-​none. Robert and his staff are welcoming, hospitable and take a great deal of pride in their work, as well as your appearance.
Nowhere else in the five boroughs will you find such a value, or a staff that treats as an old friend when you walk through their doors. For your next hair cut, beard trim or shape up, stop by the Barber on Pearl, just steps from the heart of DUMBO.

A true friendly neighborhood barbershop. I’m a guy with short hair so it isn’t exactly rocket science to cut it, but I look forward to getting my hair cut here every time. They treat you like family, and you can’t beat the price! Don’t forget to take some of that booze before a trim as well —

I get routine haircuts often from other places and have NEVER had a single issue anywhere. I was going to get a haircut from the owner Robert earlier today but ended up leaving after sitting down. He was very condescending. I gave him the simplest instructions since my hair is not that long and I just wanted it a shorter all around. He went back and forth and told me how «i don’t know what i want». As a business owner, I hope that anyone would treat their customers equally. It seems many other Unilocalers had more positive experiences but I wasn’t one of them.

After walking through DUMBO and seeing that no one was available for that day to cut my hair, I stumbled upon this small barbershop under the Manhattan Bridge. The barber was nice, and he gave me a fresh shave, haircut, and head massage, all for $ 20! I’d definitely be coming back to this barbershop

Started going here when I moved to DUMBO in June. Robert always takes care of anyone who steps into his shop. Extremely reasonable prices for a great cut and straight blade shave. Can’t fathom why you’d pay 80 bucks for a cut in the city while he’s right around the corner

The worst barbershop i ever been to they messed up my fade, the employees are not nice i wont go there anymore and i wont refer nobody to get their cuts from them.

Awesome vibe, big band music, friendly, hard-​working people, great results, and shots! What more could you want? The owner Robert himself cuts first chair, and takes great pride in everything. So glad we found this establishment!

I will be honest i walked in expecting to be disappointment but they really did a great job.
The guy that cut my hair was from London and this dude just loved to cut hair and it really showed. With very little instruction from me he managed to give me one of the best haircuts I have ever had.
This may sound odd, but they were very accommodating with my lack of talkativeness. I am not one for chatting up a storm while Im getting my hair cut… get me in get me out I’m happy. The barber was polite trying to start conversation but i think noticed I wasn’t having it and didn’t make it weird just focused on getting done. We actually did end up talking a bit but only because he was a genuinely good guy.
Without asking he also gave me a straight razor shave on my neck which I had never had before and quit frankly made be nervous. However, there was nothing to worry about this guy was a pro and now I am the owner of neck softer then a baby’s bottom. He ended the job with a wipe with a nice hot towel that was very cleansing. Ended up paying $ 18 pre-​tip. The owner introduced himself to me and gave me a loyalty punch card. Although it is more then I usually pay for a haircut the laid back environment and convenience of the location will most likely have me coming back.

Went to Barber on Pearl for the first time today while visiting NYC, in a really sweet part of Brooklyn! I was greeted right away, and everyone was very friendly!
I Got my haircut by The new guy Jesse and he was extremely thorough and gave me exactly what I wanted. I’ve never had a cleaner cut in my life! Got a trim and a neck shave and he’s a wizard with the scissors! He’s also excellent to talk to!
I’ll definitely go back every time I’m in New York, wish I could pop in for every cut! I definitely recommend this place and will always go back to Jesse.

I usually come here with my boyfriend. We live on the upper east side and he makes the trip to brooklyn for a haircut. They do a great job, are well priced, and always have shots of free booze for customers. Service is fast and the place is clean.
They also have full man shaving facial treatments which I hear are amazing!
