The moment I walked in here, I should have trusted my gut instinct and walked right back out.
1. The receptionist/​possible tech but I’m not sure, was condescending and called me Mami the entire time she addressed me. She refused to give me water for my dog at first because she said she didn’t know if he was having a procedure done (fair). When I explained we were only there for annuals and asked again for water, she came with a bowl with hardly any water and gave me the biggest attitude about it.
2. Dr. expressed to me several times how she didn’t believe in giving dogs baths (random). When I asked the her to trim my dogs nails, she clipped a vain (which happens) but then used this gross gunk that was in an empty pill bottle and put it on my dogs nail to stop the bleeding. SHE SHOVED IT RIGHT BACK IN WITH HIS BLOOD ALL OVER IT!!! Put more and put it back into the gunk and just shelved it for use at a later time!!! That should have been my queue to leave, but I was already there and thought it couldn’t get any worse. When she drew blood from him, it seemed as though she couldn’t find his vein. I’d like to think my dog is very good about going to the vet and tolerating procedures without much fuss. I knew he was in pain, she was wiggling the needle around looking for a vein and finally she found it. The following day he would not walk on the leg she had drew blood from and then hobbled on it the following days.
3. I took my dog in for his annuals and they suggested I do a «senior blood panel» since he is 8 years old. The results came in and they suggested I start him on a thyroid regimen. I asked to see the blood work before agreeing, and it showed it was one point higher than normal. When I asked about that, she said, well just in case but I suppose it could be regulated with diet.
4.As I mention, I took him in for his annuals and they did not do a heart worm check. I was under the impression it was, when I put in an order for his heart worm medication, the receptionist said «Mami we didn’t do a heart worm check» When I asked why not, since annuals at any vet I’ve been to through out his 8 years of living, have always included one, she said «some clinics do some things and some don’t». At this point I just hung up.
If you love your pet, please do not come to this clinic. Its a very unsanitary, unprofessional clinic. I do not recommend taking any animal to this clinic unless you have absolutely no choice.

They are super friendly and professional. Teo, my cat, had an urinary blocked, now he’s with us again. We are so happy!

Worst Vet ever. Overly vaccinated my 5lb puppy. When I asked they stated the paperwork was wrong but my dog has two tags. They refused to take ownership for the wrong doing. If you love your dog find another Vet.

Dr. Pruden and her team are THE ABSOLUTE BEST!!! I recently acquired an 8 week old female kitten (Shelby) and I needed to have her examined before totally introducing her to my 4 y/​o male Maine Coon/​Persian mix (Storm). I called on Wednesday (7÷8÷15) and got an appointment for the next day. Dr. Pruden and her assistant arrived at my home at 9:15 am and were professional, thorough in their examination, sensitive and compassionate in their administration of vaccines and thorough in their teachings and instructions for aftercare and necessary follow up care. I am totally thankful for the services provided and I HIGHLY recommend this practice for anyone needing veterinary care. Thank you Dr. Pruden. You are the best. My cat Storm receives vet care at The Williamsburg Animal Clinic but I will definitely continue Shelby’s care with Dr. Pruden and her team. They are great. Looking forward to seeing you at the next visit.

I have nothing but the very best feelings toward this staff of animal loving professionals at this place. Everyone was responsible, and tender to all the pet owners that came in while I was there. They made me feel like they cared about my animal… talked to me in a way that understood how much he meant to me. My concerns were addressed, advice was given, and my little boy cat was neutered, vaccinated, and home with as little stress possible. They were genuine, sweet, and capable people. It was nobel work.

Dr. Pruden and her staff are wonderful. I’ve been taking my dog and two cats here for over 4 years (I started with an old dog and old cat). She is very gentle and thorough and I like that she takes the more gentle approach when something is wrong. Many vets would rush to the biggest ticket approach, but Dr. Pruden is more subtle and conservative. In every case, this has been the right choice. The office is clean and the staff over the years has always been great. I am lucky to have a great vet in walking distance to my apartment.

More Kudos to them for calling the next day and checking in on him.

You did not hear the conversation where this woman tearfully referred to me as «disloyal» and when I asked her to clarify she stated ‘you have gone to other vets and had my notes faxed to them”.
And to clarify to you, it’s not a matter of hurt feelings on my part and there is no ‘miscommunication’. I do not expect ANY professional-​a vet, my doctor, dentist, anyone – to become emotionally upset because I choose to get a second opinion. Even if you were privy to the phone convo, your «feeling» about what happened in this call is irrelevant because her behavior was unprofessional. In addition to that, she replied to my complaint about her vet tech Lucy (who is one of the most abrasive individuals I have come across in any office) by totally changing the subject and referring to me as ‘disloyal’. At this point your employer behaved overly emotional, and unfortunately there is no way I could recommend her to anyone. In fact, when I have merely mentioned to neighbors that I took my pets to her, I was always advised of the growing reputation concerning her practice which mirrors much of what is here on this site. When I told her that I have also requested second opinions for my own health and what does she do when she has questions from her own doctors, she replied ‘well I just accept what they say’ with the same angry tone. There is no miscommunicating this conversation, and to reiterate: your feelings, opinions or intuition about this convo do not matter.
Re: the Metacam, you are correct that someone in your staff worked with me to explain questions I had, specifically on how to administer the drug. However that is NOT the complaint I referred to in my initial review. I stated that bloodwork is necessary before an animal takes this particular drug, because it can affect the liver and I clearly told Dr. Pruden that my dog had liver problems the year before. When I asked her if we should have another blood test taken (the previous test was a year earlier by another vet) she replied ‘I did that already’. Which I knew she had not because like any responsible pet parent, I carefully monitor the tests and treatments I give my pets. When I showed my dog’s file to that other vet regarding another emergency we had when your employer was unavailable, they did not see any recent blood tests taken by her either. I am very fortunate that Dr. Pruden did not kill my dog by prescribing this medication, only because I do my own research regarding side effects as I do for my own medicine. And to add, my last convo with her she also stated «you ask a lot of questions» Again-​a bizarre rant from this woman that was uncalled for. Perhaps if I showed the file to a veterinary review board, they could possibly see where this blood test was taken prior to giving him a potentially fatal drug? Or should we ask Ebony if the blood test was taken?
«Though this in no way an excuse for what happened, where the error occurred was more complex than our employees just «making a mistake.»
Your employer called me personally to APOLOGIZE for the MISTAKE that her staff made regarding the handling of my cat’s remains, and I accepted her apology because it seemed genuine. She said specifically ‘I will deal with them’ regarding her staff member who made the error. Additionally:
1) This mistake occurred years before you even began working in this clinic, so you have no idea the level of incompetence that took place. I have adopted animals for years, and I fully understand the procedure that is required for a private cremation. An employee on her staff did not. Period.
For you to offer to explain the administrative logistics of the cremation process to me is beyond offensive, especially since 1) this MISTAKE occurred years before you were even in the office and 2) again, your employer already apologized for the error. You are NOT communicating with someone who does not know how these procedures are maintained, nor am I imagining what occurred.
Lastly, there is no amount of damage control you as a business manager can do that would mitigate the excessive negative feedback your employer has received. This vet does not have the simple decency to apologize for her employee’s recent behavior during a difficult time because apparently she is more concerned about ‘loyalty’, and it says a lot about her practice that she seems to have a lot to apologize for. I have already located another veterinarian clinic whom I trust. Thank you for your offer to «amend», however I am done directly communicating with the both of you.

I would not recommend this place for cat owners which I am. I received much strange advice to say the least. Some of which was: cat’s don’t like their litter box cleaned, cat’s should only eat dry food, and ‘your cat is fine. but you should clean her ears’ when in fact she had Giardia. Sigh, waste of time schlepping pets around the city and waste of money, it felt overpriced and not to mention I had to go to another vet to have my cat checked up.

Wait. there’s more! Ha! I finally found a new regular vet for my kitty, that is a little farther away, but still just a few subway stops or a quick cab ride. So I called this ridiculous fraud of a place to get my cat’s prescription for Hill’s Science Diet C/​d food transferred and it cost me $ 7!!! In case you’re wondering this is NOT normal, and every other vet will laugh when you tell them this. Another way she nickels and dimes you! Absolutely ridiculous!

I was taking my dog here for a bath monthly. All of a sudden there is no one there bathing dogs anymore. My dog got sick when I called the vet wasn’t available and the person I spoke to had no idea when she would be in. This isn’t the first time I’ve called for a vet and she seems to never be available. The professionalism sucks get it together.

I love this place the Vet is so sweet and loves and cares for animals so deeply. She makes my dog comfortable each time!

I’ve taken my miniature pinscher to her for the last two years and have nothing but positive things to say. Her staff is always helpful, warm and friendly. My dog can be aggressive and they are all very patient and understanding with her. Dr. Pruden is down to earth, helpful and very funny. She is very knowledgeable and answers all my questions thoroughly. I recommend her clinic and services to any pet owner, her staff is wonderful and supportive.

My dog Zigler and I love Bed Stuy Vet ! Good prices, never over pricing like other vet’s I’ve been to. The doctor is wonderful, smart, sweet, and really has a passion/​love for animals, you can tell in the sweet way she handles my dog. I love this place very much ! Highly recommended !

I can’t believe that bad reviews are about the same place and vets that I believe deserves 5 stars. So far I took my dog to this clinic twice and both times I’ve been happy with their service. Both times I thought that my dog had some serious condition and needed a surgery or some kind of intervention. Both times Dr. Pruden was against any kind of intervention and explained what is going on and how to help my dog to heal herself. Also, we got some good advise about food and giving treats. Staff is friendly and helpful when I called them with additional questions. Every time we pass by this clinic, my dog wants to go in!

I’m not even sure this doctor is in fact a doctor. Not to mention the staff seems to have no idea what their hours of operation are or when the doctor comes in. I wasted 100 dollars at this hospital and still had to return to old vet across town.
Save your time and your money.

I have a rat who, post-​tumor removal surgery, has developed an ulcerated cornea. I called the office, explained the situation, and got prices for both the exam and the flourescein stain that would be needed in order for medication to be prescribed. I made an appointment.
Upon arriving at the vet, the tech looked in the carrier, pointed out that she was sick (isn’t this the reason we take animals to vets?), and said that they would not see her. Lots of BS apologies and no answers.
I’m unclear as to why whomever answered the phone initially would give me this information just so I could waste my time.
Bottom line: this vet doesn’t deal in sick animals and their staff clearly has no idea what they’re doing. Steer clear.

The vet was lovely patient and competent with both our pets.
She was very supportive providing end-​of-​life care to our elderly cat until she was ready to be put to sleep.
Our dog, who is younger and healthier, has received excellent routine care and a couple of good dental cleanings.

I would give this place negative stars if I could.
The staff is really friendly and nice which makes it hard to be angry at them. But, after boarding my two dogs for a couple days, the condition I picked them up in makes it easy. First of all, I sat outside for 30 minutes waiting on someone to get there to open the doors. So, the time listed on Unilocal and on their website is incorrect, apparently. The guy that arrived was such a sweet person, but he had no idea what he was doing. It took him another 30 minutes to figure out what and how to charge me. The price to board your dog is cheap, but you get what you pay for. The dogs are in a small, cold cage and only let out twice a day. My dogs have never peed so much in their lives as they did when I finally saw them. Also, one of my dogs had a bloody bandage on his paw from where he had ripped one of his nails off trying to scratch at the cage door.
I’m not even going to go into how bad the actual veterinary doctor is. She, also, is an extremely nice person, but I wouldn’t trust her to do anything more than give vaccinations.
Just save yourself the trouble, and DO NOT go here!
