Dr Poller and team were amazing and literally saved my kitty after he came down with a terrible case of Pancreatitis which can be deadly for cats. They were caring and thorough. Thank you!

This place used to be called Brooklyn Cares-​to make a long story short, I would never step foot into this place with my cat again. I’m convinced any good reviews for this place are written by friends of employees, The male nurse was unbelievably rough ripping my cat out of her bag by the nape of her neck to weigh her. She was petrified, she has never been handled like that nor does she need to be, she is not an out of control cat. The exam was a joke, they had her past vet record which stated she had a 3 year rabies shot with one year left. Still, they did not look at it and lectured about paying for one. Way to over vaccinate. The Dr was dismissive and spent no more than 3 minutes with my cat. No bedside manor at all. Then the nurse came back with a $ 850 estimate for the visit. This included a bunch of supplements you can get on Amazon for $ 7 that they were asking $ 40 for. I paid for the basics that my cat needed and was on my way with a $ 375 bill AFTER the Unilocal discount. So much for saving money. Do yourself a favor and find a better vet. We now see someone in lower Manhattan who is amazing and truly highlights what a nightmare this place was.

Dr. Liff is the most professional and caring vet I have ever encountered. She has taken care of our dog since the day we brought her home, and has always made herself available for questions and advice. She is so sweet and gentle, especially with my dog who is always anxious at the vet. There is no one else we would trust to take care of our baby.

Today was our first visit to the Veterinarian and u was very pleased with the way they attended to us. Dr. Fadl was awesome!

My husband and I have had such amazing luck with Pure Paws. We had an old, ailing and much loved dog who needed a lot of tlc and they were wonderful from the get-​go with Milo. Dr. Liff even followed up after visits via email or phone to check up on him, which even our own doctors have never done! I recently brought our cat Dusty in to be spayed, and had a great experience once again. The woman at reception who checked her in was efficient, knowledgeable and professional — totally on top of her game. Dusty was ready for pick up just when they said she’d be, and healed really quickly. At one point I emailed Dr. Liff with some images of Dusty’s scar to ask how she looked, and she got back to me within minutes, reassuring me that all was as should be. Honestly, this clinic is more than professional, it is full of old fashioned bed-​side manner!

Dr. Liff is the sweetest. For real. She is honest when asked an opinion on something and it’s clear she really loves her patients. My dog is extremely nervous with people, like shaking, heart racing, doesn’t let people pet her kind of nervous. Dr. Liff and staff are so gentle, patient and caring with her and she always comes away either just as healthy or even better than before. She’s had several stem cell procedures for her bilateral elbow displaysia and her torn ACL’s. After years of rehab and TWO separate ACL surgeries, the stem cells have been the best thing by far! My cats just had their first visit with her for their health and wellness exams. They’re very social, easy patients but still, I was super pleased with their overall thorough exams. On another note, a non profit I work with here in Brooklyn (
) uses Pure Paws for a lot of their services:) Pure Paws has been so wonderful working with this non profit in particular giving discounted rates and working within the community for those who love their pets but don’t have the funds that other clients (such as myself) normally have. As long as I live in Brooklyn, Pure Paws will be my go to vet.

Can’t rave enough! Not only has Dr. Liff squeezed me in last minute a bunch, but she always has amazing care for the love of my life doggy! When he needed meds she brought them to me when I couldn’t come to Brooklyn. I travel 45 minutes to see her that’s how amazing she is! Her staff always emails me forms I need ASAP and I’ve even home boarded with them! Hopefully I’ll never need them for a true emergency but if I do I know my baby is in the best hands.

Really great people here, caring for both the pet and the human. always mindful of overall health of pet in what they recommend and also mindful of costs and how to manage the two. Open 7 days a week and till 7 on weekdays, makes it easy to find time for appointments and I have been lucky to park at the front door every time!

We were so happy with our recent visit to Brooklyn Cares.
We have visited once before and found a check up was a lot more expensive than our vet in California… but it’s NY so not super surprised there! Then when our Cat started having some blood in her urine we took her in for her shots, annual checkup and to see what was going on. Our nurse (not sure of name sorry) was so lovely. I told her what was going on with Penny and she instantly gave me her thoughts & said it’s not uncommon in Cats so I had some instant relief. Then our vet, Dr Fadi, was fantastic. She talked me through the steps to find out what was going on and essentially provided a three part plan to make sure Penny was getting the best care but not having unnecessary tests (for her benefit and my budgets!!). We talked about options and then the nurse came back in with a cost statement. I got to review and opt out of services (we got all the essentials) so I knew the price before treatment started. Honestly I was worried they would recommend an ultrasound right away which I know can be pricey but we started with a more detailed urine test and some antibiotics which was only $ 100 more than my regular bill (Annual including shots).
Following the appointment I got three calls. Once from reception the morning after to see how she was. Once pretty soon after from Dr Fadi to say they saw something in first test but need to wait a few days for additional results. Then another once final results came back. Level of service was fantastic. All in all Dr Fadi’s recommendation was for Penny to drink more water and gave me some tips on how to make her do that. Water is free…
There are many reviews here on price. Here are my suggestions that helped us keep vet bills down in an expensive city!
— Keep all your records & take them with you, especially if you are bouncing from vet to vet. They need to know what services you have already had or they will charge you for them again.
— Explain circumstances of the pets living. My cat is indoors with no other cats and although some tests are recommended annually we could eliminate them as there was no chance she would have contracted the conditions the tests look for.
— Similarly ask what is 100% necessary. The first tie time we visited Penny got a costly urine test that I hadn’t seen done on her before. It really wasn’t essential and I wish I had said no.
— Ask to see statement before treatments/​tests start. They showed me this upfront but it seems like others didn’t get the same opportunity. Ask for them!

I was very disappointed during my recent visit here. They should rename their office Brooklyn Doesn’t Care Veterinary.

We have been really happy with Brooklyn Cares. The whole staff obviously loves animals and makes our visits go smoothly. They’ve taken great care of our dog and cat ever since we’ve been going there (about 2 years or so). I know some other reviewers complained about prices, and it’s true that it’s not cheap, but good, personalized care doesn’t come cheap, especially in New York City (for humans either, for that matter!). Each time our pets have needed treatment, the staff has always gone over the treatment plan and its cost with me carefully, and I haven’t felt pressure to pay for extra services that I don’t need. They’ve been clear about what «extras» are strongly recommended and which are not really needed. Dr. Liff is attentive and professional, and we’ve always felt that she and her staff took all the time necessary to answer all our questions.
Love the complimentary tea, coffee, and drinks, too!

I have been going to Brooklyn Cares for years. Great staff. Very helpful and knowledgeable. And the first vet who didn’t overcharge or give our cat extra shots, etc that were unnecessary. As long as our kitty is around, they will be our pet care.
And I got a lot of follow up on all his tests, etc. I think 3 phone calls. Might have been a little excessive, but at least I know they cared.

Overpriced and were very pushy to get us to run tests that weren’t going to change our pet’s outcome they gave us a very hard time when we declined further diagnostics unprofessional we miss Dr Mann

I have been going to Brooklyn Cares for about 2 years since we moved into the neighborhood. I choose this place specifically for the location since we are around the corner. A few things:
1) LOVE their front staff, very accommodating super friendly and nice
2) NOT a big fan of Dr. Mann. We have seen Dr. Mann for the past 2 years and thankfully he left the practice. He was extremely arrogant passive aggressive and completely unprofessional. Our last visit he said Serabi had ring worm, did no tests to confirm it, put her on a medicated shampoo and we watched her get worse.
3) Here is the kicker. ARIANA! SHE IS AMAAAAZZZINNNGGGG!!! She is the reason I am giving this place 4 stars. We came back to rectify her skin issue and were met with Dr. Liff who was nice, and gave it to us free of charge. Ariana was the vet assistant and extremely accommodating to our budget, instructions and needs and LOOOOVVVEEEDDD Serabi.
4) Brooklyn Cares is 100% better now that Dr. Mann left and I met Ariana.

As good as it gets indeed!
I called to inquire about a home visit because I have a dog that is not dog-​friendly. He can get growly if kept from another dog. It’s really only barrier aggression since he’s fine with most other dogs when he’s off-​leash, but a vet waiting room can be a nightmare for us. They were able to have us head straight to a room upon my arrival. They also scheduled me for a time when there were only crated cats in the waiting room. Very nice attention to detail. I got an appointment for the next day too!
The appointment only got better from there. The vet-​tech and doctor were both very friendly, knowledgeable and helped me keep the overall cost down while not skipping any needed treatment. Consultation, exam, test results and vaccines were all completed within 40 minutes.
I seriously love this place and will be referring friends for sure!

These guys are great. My dog had a test come back «odd» and they did it again no charge.
Aisha at the front desk is awesome. Knows her stuff, the computer system, and is the perfect blend of personable and to the point.

Just moved here with my cat– and she decides to get a UTI. Called around and they offered an appointment the next day. Staff was very friendly and welcoming, and I loved both the tech and the vet we saw. Hopefully everything is good now for a while, but I know where to come when my kitty has issues.

Good place. But what I don’t like about this place is that I come there to do one thing for 50 $, but they give me a check of 500 $. It is better just to recommend instead of pushing.

I’m very unhappy to have learned for the last six months I was giving my cat an incorrect supplement that was recommended by these vet techs & confirmed as ok by the vet.
My cat had struvite crystals (blocked twice) and a then PU surgery at this facility. $ 6000 spent all in all (with one ER visit elsewhere).
After feeding him rx food for a while I wanted to switch to a better quality food. They sold me potassium citrate w/​cranberry as a supplement to add to his food. I just took my cat to a new vet and she informed me this supplement treats calcium stones and makes his urine the opposite pH of what is best to prevent crystals– so in a way it could’ve been encouraging the formation of crystals.
Don’t trust them one bit anymore.

Unfortunately, we found out that my cat had a heart murmur that required an additional pricey test to make sure it wasn’t a sign of something more serious, but fortunately, the test results came back negative and we were given a clean bill of health.
Other than that unexpected expense, the visit with the veterinarian was short and brisk, but when I inserted myself and asked questions, he was happy to answer them and explain things further. The rest of the staff was very accommodating and friendly as well, and didn’t make me feel guilty for opting out on some vaccines or tests that were optional.
Overall a good experience and we’ll definitely make it our primary vet while we’re living in Brooklyn.
