Specialties

We are an entirely student-run free clinic striving to help the uninsured population of Brooklyn. We provide primary care, preventative care, screening, HIV testing, laboratory work, referrals to specialists, physical therapy, and aim to provide medication assistance when possible. We also run robust health education programs. Recent educational workshops include Diabetes, Men’s sexual health, Women’s Sexual Health, Healthy Minds, Smoking Cessation, and Nutrition. We provide access to comprehensive and quality healthcare for those in the greatest need.

History

Established in 2008.

The Brooklyn Free Clinic is an independent, not-for-profit organization of volunteers affiliated with the SUNY Downstate Medical Center community. We provide full and free primary care medical services for the uninsured, adult population of Bedford-Stuyvesant and the surrounding communities. Our volunteers include students, physicians, and other health care professionals. While most of the volunteers are students in SUNY Downstate’s various health care professional colleges, all medical care provided at the Brooklyn Free Clinic is supervised by an attending physician.
