Perfect place to order an inexpensive whole plain from, get some beers and chill with friends after a long week.

I was crushed when I walked by tonight to see the«closed for good sign» — sadly it looks the high rents killed them. This place was amazing while it lasted: Decent pasta and an amazing open garden in the back which was perfect in the summer. And when Hurricane Sandy hit this was one of the last places to close their doors even after the subway stopped running. No this wasn’t gourmet, it was just a «good old fashioned red sauce joint“with friendly service and a reasonable price point — the kind of place that makes Brooklyn Brooklyn. Rest in peace Carmine’s II, I wish there were more places like you left in the old hood which has been overrun by Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts franchises which are the stuff of bland suburbia.

Sign on the register says this place is going to close on Sept. 30 due to costs going up and something vague about onerous regulations. This is a real pity for the block.

There is something seriously lacking in the crust. It’s all crunch, no chewy pull. Pizza is all a balancing act. The crust is 50% of what makes a good slice. Within that crust, crunch to chew ratio should be 50⁄50. The slice here is 100% crunch. Try and fold it and it breaks at a weird angle and falls apart. The ONLY thing keeping this place going is the fact that they’re next to two major train lines and open later(when you’re drunk, I guess your pizza standards fall drastically).

I have been ordering from Carmine’s II for about 4 years and I have NEVER had a bad meal. From the pizza to the pastas, everything is fresh, delicious and always hot. I suggest the Ziti! its awesome.

The pizza is quite unflavorful and disgusting. I literally had to add all the pizza shop accouterments to my slices(parmesan, garlic, pepper flakes, spices). The prices are standard and reasonable– but Italians are obviously not making the pizza here. There is no garlic flavor to any of their menu items. The pizza selection dwindles to one or two slices an hour before they close. It looks unsightly, like they made the pizza 12 hours ago.

FYI this is a review only based on a seamless order. No problem at all with delivery time, but this place looses all the stars for complete lack of flavor. Like I didn’t know you could do that to pizza. If there was a most flavorless sauce and toppings award they would literally blow the competition out of the water. Extra sad as it was the pizza I ordered to treat my family to a New York slice :(

We ordered a plain cheese large pie Jesus how do you not have any flavor? How can you make New York pizza? You should be embarrassed. Ugh should’ve ordered Pizza Hut or dominos. I wanted a decent ny pizza and got tasteless cardboard. Never again Gross gross gross

So, this place makes a great slice — I go there all the time for a regular plain, veggie or mush-pep. Always tasty. I’ve eaten meals there as well and recall its being very tasty with great service. I’m also writing to say thank you to the counter staff and delivery people — they found my wallet on the street near the store. We got in contact, they gave it back to me and refused to accept any reward. So, thanks!

Sorry but I am not a fan. I don’t care much for big portions that lack flavor and great taste. I much rather have a smaller portion of food that’s done right. Pizza sauce was not good and my pasta dish was over cooked. Desserts were just run of the mill generic kinds. I wasn’t impressed.

Whether I go and sit in or order delivery carmines ALWAYS delivers. My family’s favorite is the soppressata pizza… it’s so amazing it’s pretty much the only thing we order. When we’re in the mood for pasta my bf always gets the lasagna which is delicious and cheesy. I love the penne alla Karen. The calamari is expensive but it’s worth it. I think it’s safe to say this is the best pizzeria in Brooklyn. It’s definitely the only pizza I’ll touch now. After experiencing it… you won’t want to go anywhere else! Oh and the delivery is always pretty fast.

This pizza was mediocre at best. The margarita ‘za we ordered looked like an artisanal pie, but tasted like the cardboard box it arrived in. The calzone on the other hand, was pretty tasty and massive. There must be better delivery in Williamsburg.

My roommate ordered delivery from here for the first time and the chicken parm sub is HUGE… And delicious! The pizza is decent, I prefer a thinner slice and softer crust. Will definitely keep Carmine’s on the short list for subs tho!

Chicken Caesar salad pizza was the first and only slice I had here but it was great. My new manager treated me to lunch at her favorite pizza spot. They had a lot of selection like buffalo chicken pizza, lasagna, bruschetta(her slice), etc. The sizes are nice and big. I love the crust here for it’s chewy, crispity goodness. It’s the best of both. The chicken on mine was well seasoned all on its owned. Something I hate about other places when they season the slice vs the ingredients that make up the slice. I would come again if in the area. I want to see this lovely outdoor eating area everyone has been raving about.

An embarrassment. Twice recently I have come in for chicken parm(once at Carmines I, once at Carmines II). Each time the chicken was old, clearly the cutlets were made the previous day(s) only to have sauce and mozzarella put on and heated up when I placed my order. When I ate the chicken parm, you can easily tell what was going on. Did not enjoy eating a very tough hard piece of old chicken. I had hoped this was an isolated incident but after experiencing this at each of the Carmines I am sure it is not. I will not be going back and would not recommend the food to anyone else.

Upside down slice really good — so unbelievably puffy, fresh, not too salty, and delicious sweet tangy fresh made tomato sauce piled on top of the cheese. I’ve had a normal slice too and it made me think about how being poor wasn’t so bad if I could just eat pizza a bunch of times all week. Nice guys that work there, too. Pride in the pizza minus the attitude kinda thing. Backyard vineyard — large and awesome!!! I was kinda confused, wondering maybe if you needed to order from a waiter or something to sit out there? No matter, bought a slice at the counter and my friend and I sat in the back. Pro Tip: feed the birds.

When it is easy to get an outdoor table at 8ish on a Saturday night in NYC, you probably are not in for the best food. The good things, most of which I have already noted(garden seating and no wait) also include a good deal and a variety of menu options. It cost $ 20pp for pizza as an appetizer, a pitcher of beer(Peroni on tap was a nice touch) and entrees. Beyond that the quality of the food just wasn’t really there. Maybe I am spoiled by homemade pasta, but I had the pasta trio(3 pasta options, in a sectioned plate –so the pastas don’t mix) with cappellini, rigatoni and pesto gnocchi. The rigatoni and gnocchi were not worth eating, but I enjoyed the cappelini which came with a vodka-like cream sauce and mushrooms. The pizza we had, artichoke ricotta and prosciutto(sounds like a great idea, right?) was just too salty as much of the other food. I woke up in the middle of the night with ‘salty’(swollen) hands. All in all, the menu looks great, but the food just doesn’t deliver. Hard to complain for a 20 dollar dinner that includes beer and an appetizer in an outdoor setting, but, well here I am saying –you get what you pay for! Probably a good choice for a no nonsense snack(upon my exit I noticed some pizza on display that appeared interesting) and some beer on a summer night.

This was my first trek to the land of the hipsters and I have to say… I was pleasantly surprised! After a night of beer tasting and playing arcade games at Barcade, my friend and I stumbled upon this joint, looking for something cheap to fill our bellies. Lo and behold, a minute after we walk in, a spinach & ricotta pie comes out hot and fresh from the oven. I immediately decide to get a slice of that as my mouth is watering. The slice was delicious, huge with a perfectly crunchy crust and ample amounts of spinach and ricotta. My friend had the veggie slice and hers also had lots of delicious veggies on top. These folks don’t skimp on the toppings(and they better not at $ 3-$ 4 for a slice!) Major props for having a large variety of vegetarian slices to select from as well as the huge slices that leave you stuffed after just one! Overall, did this place blow me away enough to earn 5 stars? Not quite, but it sure did hit the spot!
