Very authentic. Good pupusas closer than east New York(although more expensive). Nice location, kind staff. We got the mixed pupusas and the veggie and cheese and a side of beans, also comes with chips and slaw. 4 pupusas were enough for 2 people. Good combo! Will be back when the pupusa craving hits.

I was happy with this place the meal was decent, service was pleasant, and the food items were diverse… This would’ve been all good place but for one thing, I believe they overcharged me I ordered a small plate of rice beans and chicken stew which on the menu is $ 7 dollars, I had as an appetizer a bean cheese papusa, $ 5. I had only two beers and they charge me $ 24.50. Kick myself in the butt because I didn’t realize it until I got home and looked up . I felt«estupido»!!!

Open to the street dining. Pleasant servers. beef taco and Cuban sandwiches were tasty. Cubans were generously sized. Would try this place again but share my sandwich!

Two stars just for the tasty pupusas. The service wasn’t great, the slaw was brought out by itself and we were just looking at it wondering what to do with it since no plates or explanation came with it. About 10 minutes later we got our cheese pupusas and the pork ones, both were delicious and were made better by the slaw. When our meals were brought out, my maduros were on my friend’s plate, her tostones were on my plate. Instead of fixing it before she brought it out or bringing us an extra plate to make it easier for us to switch, the server mentioned that they were on the wrong plates and that was it. My salmon was just okay, my friend ordered carne guisado and got a cheap steak, nothing at all like the stewed meat she was expecting. I’d go back if I was in the area and only order pupusas.

Best pupusas in sunset, very relaxed environment, good bar selection, I always come back for more.

Solid 3.5 but rounded up to a 4. I had the red snapper and of course the pupusas. OMG, so much food. The snapper was a whole lightly fried fish. Flaky and fresh. Delish. The pork chops were a bit overcooked, hence the 3.5. The mixed pupusas were heavy on the beans for me, but I loved the gooey cheese. Next time, I’ll probably stay boring and go with cheese only. Or maybe veggie? Yums and definitely going back.

It has a long menu of items you can find elsewhere like fried chops, but I thought pupusas might be more site-specific. I got the mixed version — pork, cheese and beans, I believe. It was fine on its own but even better when topped with pickled cabbage and red and green sauces. The shrimp ceviche had a good, tomato-oriented base, although I would have preferred whole shrimp over chopped.

This place is another gem in the neighborhood. I went there yesterday with 3 other people and had an amazing dinner. As a matter of fact, all 3 of them were Salvadoreans so they make credible critics. To make a long story short, all of them said the pupusas were up to par. Compared to other places, I like how these pupusas were actually a bit crunchy. That adds more texture to them. You have the option of choosing either one of two rooms to dine in. The first one is where the bar is located, usually with brighter lighting and livelier crowd. The second is slightly darker for those who prefer a quieter dining experience. Although the waitress never smiled, I will say her service was good. She even turned the fan on when I requested it. I highly recommend this place.

Great experience! Food was fanominal, I had as a appetizer tamales de elote(corn tamales), then the steak with onions rice and beans, finished of with a piece of quesadilla(cheese cake salvadorian style) price was reasonable service was great definitely going back again to try other dishes. I love the open front doors it feels like your eating outside. Bathrooms and décor definitely need work you wouldn’t guess that the food was so amazing from the appearance but once your eating you forget about the look. Very clean kitchen you can see inside through the counter. Very clean restaurant just needs to be updated restaurant has a A in font of window.

Wine was served hot in a tiny cup smh. Tacos had more of the bad parts of lettuce that ur supposed to throw away than meet or anything else. I kept chewing on bones and my pulpusas were burnt all the cheese had melted out and had been burnt!!! Never again.

I eat here fairly regularly. The food is still relatively cheap, which is why I eat here. The service is good, staff is friendly. I like the pupusas and I like the broiled chicken and pork chops. I have been a little disappointed about some of the other food choices there. The stews, they are kind of sad. So I don’t normally stray much from my usual choices. I wish their salads offered more than iceburg lettuce. Usually the pico de gallo that they garnish their plates with is almost orgasmically good. Excellent spice! Why don’t they just serve bowls of that stuff? I would eat it all.

first experience was charming, second was lack luster, tacos are great, cheap food, cheap beer, positive and nice staff, pupusas and tacos highly recommended.

Upon first walking in, you won’t expect much from Continental but don’t let their lack of decór fool you. Their Salvadorean cuisine is mouthwatering good. I always get the same thing when I come partly because because I am a creature of habit and partly because if something is this good, why change it? I’d recommend ordering two pupusas: una revuelta(1 mixed) y una con queso(and 1 with cheese). Pupusas are lightly pan fried, corn or rice flour based tortilla patties stuffed with meat and cheese, pork and beans or just cheese. This dish comes with a side of shredded cabbage in a homemade vinegar & lime dressing. So. Effing. Good. Then I would recommend an order of Tamales de Elote. There are two in one order and perfect for sharing. This is a corn based, buttery tamale served with cream on the side that has a slightly sweet taste to it. It’s very soft and buttery to the taste. This could probably also be eaten as a dessert but it complements the flavor of the pupusa and cabbage salad so well. To drink, I would order one of their traditional beverages like Horchata(cocoa flavored, slightly milky drink) or Tamarindo(beverage made from Tamarind). Their milkshakes are also incredibly flavorful and delicious. iBuén provecho!

this review largely a response to reviews that i think do not represent this restaurant properly. it now has an «A» health grade, & it certainly serves El Salvadorean cuisine. i also found the service exceedingly friendly, although if you don’t speak Spanish there can be a language barrier. i have never gotten anything but pupusas & a couple of the sides here(the beans & plantains are great) — & found them to be the closest thing i’ve found in New York the pupusas i once ate in El Salvador. i recommend the veggie ones with bean/cheese or the pork. this is not a fancy restaurant. the bathrooms ain’t great, the atmosphere ain’t for a hottt date night, but you’re getting what you pay for, & i’m always happy to leave this great neighborhood spot after paying a very small bill after eating delicious pupusas & having very friendly service. note: on a nice spring/summer day that’s not too hot, they will open huge floor to ceiling windows if you ask.

If you come here expecting a high-end experience you will be disappointed. We expected basic Salvadoran food and were not disappointed at all. The menu is a mix of some Salvadoran and some Mexican items. Pupusas were good as was the Pollo Guijados. They accommodated our group of nine people and although the place can be a little chaotic when crowded — our drinks and food came in good time. The prices were reasonable for the quality and amount of food. We spent less than $ 130 for nine including beer and wine.

Tasty pupusas. They also have a very good lunch special. Not the best Salvadorean, or the best pupusas ever, but it is solid and reliable neighborhood place for a pupusa or a caldo fix.

First time i ever at pupusas was at this place. its in a very mexicany part of park slope and my buddy told me that its his new go to spot so i had some high hopes going in. The pupusas were delicious. at 2 for 4 bucks we ordered the pork and bean ones. They were slightly crispy on the outside and nice and hot inside. YOu could pick them up without them falling apart, came with some sort of mexican colslaw and a red tomatoe based sauce on the side. Service was super friendly!

Corner spot– always wondered about this place. We ate well here… Papusas were nicely made and tasty especially the cheese papusa. They were served with a vinegary coleslaw. Bf’s plate of roast chicken, rice, beans salad was a feast. My batido of strawberry/banana was also quite good. Bathrooms here are a bit dirty, but to some there is a correlation…$ 19.95.

The pupusas are really, really good, rich in flavor and you taste authentic Central American flavor, the food is always fresh. Must try the hocharta drink. One and half complaints though, too rich for my blood* and the waitress** had a stank-ass attitude. That’s why I gave em a three. *They used to be cheap back in the day, got expensive! **One of the waitresses was nasty, the light skin skinny one is nice.
