History
Established in 2008.
Eponymy opened its doors with the idea of reviving the lost art of shopping. By melding design and ritual of both past and present, owner Andrea Miller seeks to offer an unconventional retail experience that shifts away from the trend of fast and disposable fashion and culture — and moves towards distinctive, and sustainable style in an imaginative and whimsical setting.
Using a truckload of antique showcases and fixtures from her grandparent’s old shop as a foundation for the design and soul of the space, Miller updated the lot to make them work in 21st Century Brooklyn. The result was a true hybrid — of old and new, quirkiness and classicism — combining style and ambiance in a space adorned with contemporary art. By blending the grace and spirit of objects and clothing of the past with the vitality of innovative fashion design of the present, Miller brought Eponymy to life: the shop that names itself, where everyone can take away something with personal meaning.
