The best in Kensington. Fresh, tasty food with good portions. Prices are reasonable service is good and delivery is never too long. Recommended over the others around here

Five stars for the food and service. I went on a Saturday afternoon and there was only one other family there. The service was attentive. We ordered 2 burgers with fries and onion rings.
My burger with the mushrooms and bacon (check out the pic) was D-​LICIOUS! Kinda greasy which is only expected and encouraged at a diner. Very filling. I was told the fries weren’t salted but they definitely were seasoned. I usually have to add salt and pepper but not this time around.
The onion rings were A-​1. You know how usually onion rings can be a little soft and you bite in and all the onion comes out only leaving the breading? Well, not here. The onion rings were crispy and the onion stayed intact inside the breading once bitten into it.
Burgers came with pickles and coleslaw. Decent enough.
Definitely will be back!

Last night I was there with some friends. I ordered a chicken souvlaki platter, received a bonus living green leaf bug in my salad and owner gave me a $ 6.25 discount on my meal. #winning
The little guy was camouflaged well in the greens, and only noticed it when it started crawling on the feta cheese since the green color of the bug (green leaf shield bug) on white feta resulted in a high-​contrast visual image which made me wonder why the cucumber is crawling towards me… At that time, I had eaten about a fifth of the salad, so kudos to the little guy for its survival skills.
We all had a good laugh about it and informed the waitress who was dumbfounded. She was nice to us and we were nice to her. A few moments later the owner/​manager came up sheepishly to offer half of an apology, I said «no worries» and we waited for the check so we can get out of there. These things happen especially for a diner like George’s which is only offering the freshest of veggies and plants.
The owner was kind enough to charge me only $ 6 out of the $ 12.25 of the original order. I told the waitress that even though I’ll pay for it, I didn’t appreciate the gesture. The bug wasn’t even cooked!
We paid, said «goodnight, and thank you» in Greek to the owner/​manager to show the Cypriot solidarity to the Greeks and we stormed out.
My only regret is that I didn’t leave a good tip for the waitress since we left in a hurry, so I apologize for that. She had nothing to do with it.
TL;dr — If you like to live adventurous, this is the place for you.

Their food is spectacular. Service could’ve gone better though. Also the size of their water glass was pretty small and it took a while elect he waiter to notice us. Overall I’ll go there again.

Came in on a Saturday evening and got seated immediately. We got a Greek salad to split, it was huge! I got the Ruben and it was delish! My partner got the California burger and it looked amazing! Everything we got was fresh, good and came very quick. We will be back very soon!

George’s has become the reliably good diner that the neighborhood needed! I love this place. The waffles are crisp, the eggs well cooked, and the potatoes are yummy!

Good service, quality and taste of food, clean. I live nearby and I can say its always full of people.

Just read that they are receiving the 2016 Community Cornerstone Business Award and remembered that I hadn’t left them a review yet.
I’ve been eating here once every couple of weeks since the original owner’s family re-​bought the place and as far as diners go you can’t beat it.
Food grade — A. Yeah I know it’s «diner food» but it’s QUALITY, real, diner food and they make everything w/​care. They’re not slopping food on plates back in the kitchen
Service grade — A. Lightning fast and the folks that work there are always so warm and friendly I sometimes wonder if i’m on a hidden camera show. Definitely a throwback to the old days.
Space — A. Totally impressed w/​what they did w/​the interior. I went into the old Georges a few times to use the ATM and it was always dark, grimey, and reeked of GREASE. The new owners opened up the place, installed a nice counter space, and created alot of light. It feels good in there.
Price — A. Portions and quality go above and beyond their standard diner pricing.
What else can I say? The place is the shit. Go. Go now.

No wait, good food, fast food. Real food. Forget. IHOP real pancakes and eggs. Not pictured here is our oatmeal and pancake order, which were both perfect. I love an old fashioned diner. Simple, clean and wholesome

Wow. I’m so glad I waited until seeing more reviews about George’s to see everything so on point.
I’m not very into diner style food but this, this is what all diners should be like.
We walked in and were greeted by a friendly gentleman who managed to seat us right away even though the place was packed. Water and menus were brought right away.
We ordered 3 different style egg dishes and gosh those portions are huge. And so so good. Tasty, hearty and the perfect breakfast delight. The service topped all. Our waitress was friendly and the food came to our tables stat. Free refills on coffee.
The food is very well priced for the portion sizes.
Parking was perfect on this rainy Saturday. We managed to park right out front.
I think George’s has now become my favourite weekend spot. It’s exactly what this neighborhood needs.

So glad they finally redid this place! It’s been in the neighborhood for as long as I can remember but no one dared to go in before the renovation. The food is fine, it’s diner food so it’s not amazing but not bad either. The service is good and staff is super friendly.

This listing is a new version of the old George’s Restaurant listing, to show that it is a separate, new place. The distinction is totally deserved. Under the old ownership and management, the old version of George’s had become a place I would no longer go. This new place? So clean, so friendly, and delicious food. What a wonderful transformation. And how wonderful to have a great neighborhood diner again. Thank you, George’s!

Congrats to the new (old) owner bringing this place back to life and something to be proud of. Stopped by for breakfast and within 30 minutes that had a line out the door, reminded me how it use to be when it took up all 3 storefronts. Classic eggs and sides, bottomless coffee. Prices are reasonable. Staff was great. Will be back again.

What a pleasant surprise ! Saw some reviews on here about this diner so I decided to give it a try and I was truly impressed. The location doesn’t look like much from the outside but it looks recently renovated and modernized on the inside. Great customer service and the food came out with not much of a wait at all. Very friendly servers and the environment was great. Came with my girlfriend for Valentine’s Day and she liked how the inside was small and intimate. Definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a great breakfast. We had pancakes and eggs and both were very pleased !

We’ve been in the neighborhood for nearly five years. Every time, we passed George’s we thought how great it would be to have a working, clean diner serving good food. Now, we’ve got it. The remodel is fantastic. The service is attentive. They have a solid menu – plenty of items. They have grits! We are thrilled and will be back many, many times.

I can’t believe how the new owners completely renovated this restaurant. Everything is completely new. The restaurant has a upscale ambience that is a pleasure to experience. Most importantly, the food is delicious! It is definitely a throwback to what this restaurant represented during it’s heyday from the 60’s through the 90’s. It’s great to see George’s reborn!

The new owners really cleaned up George’s. We ate in the restaurant and also ordered delivery. Eating in, the food was good diner food, I had a very good waffle with egg and bacon and my wife had very good pancakes. The place itself was very clean and way too lit up. The staff were attentive but also seemed very anxious, maybe because they reopened recently and the place has a recent bad history. There was a little bit of a wait as we wrapped up our meal, and one of the managers was standing in front of our table, clearly anxious about the line and making us feel like we needed to rush, which was uncomfortable. Delivery was very quick and was still hot. Ordered a cheeseburger, which was mediocre, and my wife thought the same about her omelet. In the end, an OK place for a go-​to diner in the neighborhood, we are glad to have it but probably will only go there on occasion.

My boyfriend told this place was a part of his childhood, and although I was skeptical due to many of the reviews, he told me that it re-​opened after renovations. I ordered a veggie panini with fries which came with pickles and coleslaw on the side and bf’s order was a Coney Island burger with fries which also came with the same two extra sides. Let me say that the food proportions are MASSIVE. Secondly, it tastes like classic diner food which hit the spot but I do prefer my vegetables to be a bit more seasoned. George’s is an old school American joint so I don’t expect it to be super seasoned but still… this a heavily ethnic area so spices go a long way. Other than that pretty good. The menu is also large btw so you may not be able to decide what you want haha. Bf topped everything off with a cheesecake but I didn’t get a verdict on that. Nice spot for the neighborhood (and late night cravings).

Great New layout. Staff was friendly and the food was good. Nice Diner to go to when your in the mood for Diner food.
