This place has a gorgeous courtyard — perfect for balmy nights. Inside is quirky, great vibe and dimly lit. Food is divine, all of it! Been here several times and plan to return. Cracking find.

Get your Margarita here! Our party of four sat at the lounge table by the bar. The Ai Papi margarita is my favorite so far. Smokey Mezcal pinapple and jalepeno. Not overly spicy. A traditional Margarita makes the cut as well at this Urban Mexican spot. The Steak tacos on special were flavorfully saucy with a little heat. Wish we had ordered more of these as the Chorizo Quesadilla left a lot to be desired. Dry and boring. The guacamole was a hit however. Will definitely try this place again as the service was attentive inspite of how busy the bar was and they kept our waters filled(necessary with spicy foods and drinks)

$ 7 happy hour margaritas with coworkers? A great way to see the true nature of the people you work with. Quickly.

I rarely see the cocktail menu change. If you want just a plain margarita, then come here. They have one margarita that has a little spice/heat to it. The tacos were mediocre. They charge you as if they were the best tacos ever. The guac appetizer they give you is ridiculously small. Overall, small plates, high volume, same old cocktial menu.

Decent is the word that comes to mind about this particular spot. Beer was cold and the patio out back is perfect. Went here on my birthday last month and nothing about the food was memorable besides the guacamole. Took the waitwrs recommendation on main course and disappointed to say the least. Salsa was boring and bland as we’re the entrees. Good spot for a drink out back on the patio but most likely will not dine here again

This place is a wonderful spot in Dumbo! The ambiance is great and the food is excellent. We’ve been here twice now and I have to start with what is usually the last part of the meal, dessert. The churros are a must have. They are sweet, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside covered with a delicious chocolate sauce. For the starters, I am not a huge fan of the guacamole. I like it with the pepitas(toasted pumpkin seeds) but it seems to always lack salt and have a little too much lime. I tend to like my guacamole spicier. They did have a really good special the other day, a spinach and cheese gordita which was really really good! I’ve tried a few different mains, the chorizo con papas quesadilla is a must have. It is cheesy, the chorizo is very tasty and the green sauce they serve with it is really good. The Suadero tacos(brisket) are excellent, they only give you 2 per serving and you’ll want to order 2 more they are so good. The chicken tacos were also really good but the quesadilla and suadero tacos stole the show for entrees. As a side I highly, highly recommend the crispy sweet potatoes. They are served with a chipotle mayo dipping sauce and I would definitely go back for those. Buen Provecho!

Came here for a bite after going looking at the sunset at Brooklyn Bridge all evening. The place was super loud with music playing and a lot of people talking. We had to wait about 30 mins and didn’t get to eat till 9:30pm. The ambiance is nice but it was so dim I had trouble reading the menu! We ordered some food and it was quite nice, tapas style in general but we were full. The food was pretty tasty but it wasn’t anything particularly spectacular.

Chorizo con papa was amazing! Def a must try. The Esquite(corn) was pretty flavorful. The ceviche was not something I would try again. It tasted like nothing more then orange juice. But the presentation was definitely pretty. Service was pretty quick. Scenery is beautiful with the garden and lights. The music is diverse and entertaining. A bit of everything for different crowds. Would recommend for a first date although it is not authentic Mexican food.

Really fun trendy place to grab some food and empty your wallet in a few cocktails. Went here with a few friends for dinner. We grabbed a few margaritas from the bar which were around $ 12. Not crazy expensive but it felt alittle over priced for what you got. We eat out back which was absolutely beautiful. If you are looking for a intimate date spot this is your jam. The lighting is dark but gives the area a great feel in addition to the ivy that’s creeping up the brick. The seating is positioned almost under the Brooklyn bridge giving the area a very unique feel where you almost feel like you are seated inside. The may is limited and portions are small. The prices are proportional to the serving size but you will need to order taco plus an appetizer per person if you are looking for a normal portion size.

This place is more popular than I thought! We came here on a Tuesday night around 7:30pm without a reservation, and the wait was about 30min. Luckily the bar was wide open so we sat down. The interior is dark with a feel of wood and metal(say industrial chic?) Supposedly they have a courtyard so I will have to try next time. We got some cocktails, ceviche, fish taco, and beef brisket taco. I’m not a big margarita fan, which seems to be the one drink everyone else was getting. My sangria was decent, and my husband’s drink was good too. Ceviche was pretty amazing, fish and shrimp were fresh, tastes were perfectly balanced by acidity from lime, creaminess of avocado and bitterness of radish. LOVELOVE. Fish in taco was perfectly fried — batter was not too thick and fish inside was tender and moist. Beef taco was a little inconsistent — some chunks of meat were more chewy than the others, but the flavors were pretty good. I will need to make reservation to come back soon so I can try other things!

Gran Electrica is a beautiful rustic restaurant/bar located in Dumbo. I heard they had great margaritas & a beautiful garden patio, which were the two main reasons why I wanted to stop by. Honestly, after my first experience here thanks to a snooty hostess & an absent minded server, I vowed to myself that I would never step foot in this place again but I could not stay away from the amazingly delicious Margarita Helada De Guava Picante. It’s a frozen drink made with habanero-infused Pueblo Viejo tequila, guava, lime, & chili. It’s a perfect combination of tart & spice. I think it’s the best margarita I have ever had. I have to give a special shout out & a huge thanks to the cool & knowledgable Mixologist Adian or Evan(I forgot his name already but he had a cool skull bar-spoon at his station) who worked at the front bar. He had amazing energy & made my second visit to Gran Electrica wonderful. Food Recap: Gucamole — avocado, garlic, lime, cilantro, & onions garnished with toasted pepitas(pumpkin seeds) & sliced pickled chili Great flavors & I loved the interesting choice of garnishes. Chorizo con Papa Platter — house-made chorizo served with potatoes, crema, avocado salsa, fried egg, & tortillas Everything in the iron skillet tasted great but the tortillas were dry & stale. Pescado Estilo Ensenada — cod, chipotle mayo, & pickled cabbage. The cod was breaded & fried perfectly but the fish alone lacked flavor. If the cod were marinated in a bit of lemon juice & minced garlic, it would have been delicious. Overall, I am happy that I didn’t give up on this place because I don’t know how I would survive without that margarita in my life.

Been here a couple times, once with a group of 8 where we sat in the backyard, and once where we were sat at the bar for a quick drink. The backyard is actually pretty cool. Nice space to just chill with drinks and food. I’ve enjoyed the margaritas they have here even though they’re a touch too strong(or maybe because of it). Hasn’t been more than a place we’ve stopped at while en route to somewhere else, but it’s a pretty cool space. A great option to have near Brooklyn Bridge Park.

Love the atmosphere, décor, music. Decent service as well – however, the food is forgettable. If you’re craving Mexican and you’re in the DUMBO/Brooklyn Heights area, this place might satiate you, but there’s just something lacking. The guac is very decent; however, the tacos leave something to be desired. I had the carnitas tacos, and they were just a bit… much. The pork was definitely good, and so was the salsa, but somehow the combination of everything in it felt too heavy for the tiny little taco. I do, however, have to praise the layout of the restaurant. Tucked unassumingly on the corner of Front St, you could easily mistake it for a storefront or someone’s house. The inside, however, is cozy, inviting, and there is a great backyard bedecked with lights and umbrellas that make this a great date spot. Just make sure you have a few margaritas in you before you start on the food, or hope your date is so enthralled with the space that he or she isn’t paying too much attention to the flavors.

Ok Mexican place, nothing special. Lacking flavored here for sure. Started with the salsa and guac, the salsa had this intense sesame flavor, not something I enjoyed. The guac was super creamy which I also disliked but that might be personal preference. tasted almost store bought. The fish tacos were also lacking in flavor, the highlight of the meal was the salad for sure. Would not be back any time soon.

Appalling, inedible food. What a shame. It’s a beautiful space(albeit way too warm — no AC), great atmosphere and music, pretty good service, but the food is extremely terrible. We ordered chips and salsa + guac. Chips were very stale and had no trace of salt(wtf!). Salsa was incredibly bland and watery, and the guac tasted like mashed up avocados. What happened to the salt, lime, and onions? Chips & guac might as well be called«chips and mashed avocados with soupy salsa.» From there, I already wasn’t expecting much for the rest of the food to come. I had ordered the oyster + crimini mushroom quesadilla. And um, I wouldn’t even call it a quesadilla. First of all, the tortilla was so hard and stale. Secondly, the filling had absolutely no flavor even with lime juice squeezed all over it. I could barely eat it. Plus, it was placed on top of brown paper, which was totally unnecessary and made it hard to cut the quesadilla. I just ate all the filling to sustain my appetite(and likely pieces of the brown paper…). Another reason why I wouldn’t recommend this place — it was extremely hot in there. I don’t get why they didn’t turn on the AC. Everyone in my table was sweating. At one point, I started to feel nauseous. I think the waiter overheard us ranting about the warmth, so he brought over water glasses filled with ice. Okay, why didn’t you do that from the start?! Who in the world serves still no ice water during the summer?! Jeez. Oh, and the chocolate pudding(someone else ordered it, and I tried a spoonful) was very disappointing, too. I didn’t know that you could go wrong with chocolate. The pudding, like everything else, was bland and had no flavor. Bottom line: don’t come here if you’re looking for Mexican food, are sensitive to heat, like flavorful GOOD food, and if you like to eat.

It was just alright. Had its good points and its bad ones. The drinks were great! So I would recommend it for that. The tacos I had were less than to be desired. I got the chicken tinga and boy was my meat tough. Which is the worst when you are eating a taco and they can be kinda messy and you’re struggling with biting through it. My beans were delicious. I loved the seasoning choices. And our desserts were really awesome too. Flavorful and perfect way to end a meal. We got the flan and the Mexican chocolate pudding, both would highly recommend. So top marks for drinks and dessert. So if you need a bookend to your dinner elsewhere I would recommend this place. As for Mexican dinner fare, there are many other places I would choose instead.

This is a beautiful backyard restaurant. The salsa is unique. It is almost like a vodka sauce. That was different and unexpected, but it was decent. The guacamole was good. The ceviche was really good. Much better than I expected. The brisket tacos were small. They were tasty. Jackson Heights has spoiled me and while they were great tacos, the price point left me homesick. Our group of five had quite a long wait before sitting and had to steal a fifth seat from the table next to us. Members of our group raved over the pork shoulder special and the pork shoulder meatballs. The chicken taco was good as well.

If you like beautiful backyards, a spectacular range of mezcals, and Mexican food, you’ll love Gran Electrica. Unfortunately, we only experienced the first two since it was an after-dinner stop, but we did have some chips and guac, which were good. Came here on a Friday night, and the backyard was pretty full around 9:30. The host told us we could stand off to the side where there was a standing bar and order drinks until a table opened up. Luckily, that only took a few minutes, and we were able to get seated right in the middle(there were about 8 of us). Service was quick, and our waiter was really passionate about mezcal. Also, they have the coolest painted hand dryer in the bathroom!

After a long bus ride sans lunch I was starving and looking forward my first night on the town in NYC. A group of us went to Gran Electrica for dinner at the suggestion of a DUMBO native. We had to wait a few minutes for a table outside to be ready, so we headed to the bar to order a round of micheladas. Before the bartender caught up with the rest of his orders, it was time for us to be seated. So, they served our drinks to the table after closing out. The michelada was spicy just the way I like them. My boyfriend and I shared three orders of tacos – the pescado estilo ensenada, the tinga de pollo, and the carnitas. They were all very tasty, and I liked them all equally. However, I would suggest ordering two orders for yourself because they aren’t that large or filling. I enjoyed my meal at Gran Electrica, and the back patio was a nice place to dine.

A friend brought me here after a volleyball game in Brooklyn Bridge Park on a Monday night. I think Monday/Tuesday might be my new go-to night for dinners because you get amazing service and zero over crowding. We started off with some specialty cocktails and I loved my cucumber/cilantro margarita! It was really refreshing and had nice spring flavors. We also ordered the salsa and guac which I highly recommend. The salsa was really good-not your regular fare; it had sesames which brought it to a whole new level. The guac was fresh and tasty although not as creative as its counterpart. For our main course, between the 3 of us we decided to get 5 different tacos. The pork and the chicken were the biggest hits, followed by the beef and the veggie. I didn’t try the fish taco but apparently is was pretty bland. If the tacos were slightly more creative or flavorful, this place would easily be 4 stars. Unfortunately, I wasn’t really that impressed by any of the flavors since they were pretty unexciting and didn’t have contrasting ingredients. Definitely got the job done, but when I get sesame seeds in my salsa, I’m hoping for a better end game with the tacos.
