Like others have said, a very nice employee helped me/service was perfectly fine. Food was fine too, but nothing special and not really worth the price. I got the lunch special, which was $ 6. I got three pieces of baked tofu, which was the highlight and then I got two veggie sides: greens and mixed veg. The greens were totally just chopped frozen spinach. The seasoning was tasty, but… I have a hard time with getting frozen spinach from a restaurant. The corn side looked like frozen corn too. The mixed veg side was mainly cabbage. Again, tasty seasoning, but we’re just talking about the cheapest vegetables possible. It just doesn’t feel worth the price. I’m sure everything was recently prepared, but nothing felt«fresh.» And they don’t have fro-yo anymore. Bummer. I loved the ginger lemonade, but I love ginger.

if you’re going to compare this to high end vegan eateries like«Caravan of Dreams» or «Angelica’s Kitchen» then yes, you will be disappointed. There are different levels of vegan dining and I would consider this one to be lower tier /middle of the road. Its a convenient go-to for me since its the only vegan eatery in my neighborhood but that doesn’t mean i’m just settling. Their friendly service, fast delivery and excellent prices keep me coming back. Knowing just what their best dishes are helps too! I love their baked tofu(just wish they put less sauce), mixed veggies, and greens. Nothing too fancy but when you’re in need of quick take-out, it satisfies without the extra added junk other take-out options contain.

First time here and already a huge fan. Protein plus two sides for lunch for $ 6. Got the spicy jerk tofu, greens and nut based vegan macaroni and cheese. All were delicious and proper size serving for a filling lunch. Best of all, good service, nothing to take for granted in NYC. I told the guy working that it was my first time there and he showed me every dish, shared which were customer favorites and which were personal favorites. Will def be back, so happy this is in my new neighborhood. I’m an omnivore and always thrilled when the vegan/healthy food is as tempting as the unhealthy stuff.

This place is horrible. I have no clue why it’s rated so well. The ginger lemonade is completely bitter. Waaaay too much ginger, enough to burn your throat. The small container of food is just that, small. Not worth $ 7 at all. If you want some good vegan food, go anywhere but here. You can get some much better tasting vegan food elsewhere. Regretted coming here right away.

It was terrible the ginger lemanade was nasty and the food was not worth it. And it was just a waste of money and time

I was pretty excited to try out this vegan place, although I am not vegan. I don’t always need to eat meat or seafood. One night, I didn’t feel like cooking and the place was a 10 minutes drive away. So I decide to pick up some takeout, since they don’t have tables to eat in. However, I did see 2 small tables outside the restaurant when I got there. It’s really a take out place though. No customer bathroom either. It’s pretty small inside. I ordered the small, one protein, 2 sides($ 7) and medium, 2 protein, 3 sides($ 10) meals. The small is small, but they do pack a lot of food. I’m not a big eater, so it’s just right for me. The medium size would be the size to pick for the average person. It was a little pricey, but I don’t mind if it’s quality food. When I got home and tried the food, it wasn’t what I expected. I had the spicy jerk, it was spicy and the protein was super hard and it was not edible. I only ate several of this and had a lot leftover. The bbq pepper was better, didn’t love it or hate it. The baked tofu was the best, but they only gave 3 pieces. They gave a lot of sides. I liked the sides and there’s a lot to choose from. I tried the corn, mixed vegetables, and fried rice. But, I don’t think I’ll be going back. Food wasn’t amazing.

I am not a vegan but my friend that chose this place is. We went in with my toddler. We were warmly greeted by the owner, who was very were nice to chat with. For a chicken/meat lover like me, I would say I was pleasantly surprised. The tofu was great and I got some beans and cabbage on the side. An interesting combination but everything on my plate was flavorful. My daughter had some rice and corn, and unfortunately it was rather bland. As a meat eater, would I return? Probably not. However, it was pretty good and I would recommend it to others.

All vegan and set up like cafeteria style, choose a protein and sides place. There also is a tables and chairs to sit outside of the restaurant. The young man behind the counter was very helpful and describing the menu since this was my first time to eat here. I got the lunch special, it comes with one protein and two side and I got a raspberry lemonade tea. The food was good, it is not a place I would eat once a week because it is a little too heavy but for vegan comforts like Mac n Cheese(although I believe I have had better) this a good place to stop for a quick bite.

Delicious food and juices. Super-friendly staff when ordering in or calling for delivery. I can’t believe how much tasty vegan food I get(so many protein options!) for such a reasonable price.

I had a lovely experience here the other night. The employee helping me was so friendly and took the time to explain every available item as well as answer all of my questions, which I really appreciate. The food on the other hand wasn’t phenomenal, but it wasn’t bad… just lacking a little flavor. I also ordered a ginger lemonade which was aaaaamazing and vegan oatmeal cookies that also were. I’ll probably be back again as its really convenient and they have a large selection of fresh juices.

Very bland food, not inexpensive for what it is. 2.5 stars. I’m not sure why this place has such a high rating, I suppose because of good service? It was good service but that doesn’t make up for food that’s just okay.

So I was super stoked when this eatery opened as the neighbourhood is definitely in need of vegetarian and vegan restaurant. However, after trying it twice I will not return. I found the food to be rather bland and in need to flavor. In addition it was typical of other vegetarian spots located on Church and Flatbush avenue. I am hoping for something authentic and flavourful. In addition the food is over cooked. Eating pasta that what boiled until eternity is a no no. The owner was nice and the service was fine hence the two stars I gave. However, I will continue to be on the look out for some fun vegetarian food that is SO good that my meat eating husband will love. Until one opens in the neighbourhood I will continue driving to Park Slope where there are more options. Sorry I really wanted to like this place.

After seeing the 4.5÷5 average rating for this place, I thought it would be great! I am pretty down with these«protein and sides» kind of places normally.(I’m pretty sure my favorite will always be Veggie Castle II in Queens.) When my friend and I walked in we were not really greeted, but acknowledged. It kind of felt like we had interrupted a private conversation. It was an hour before close, but they should really be «on» until their door is locked. No detectable warmth, just a feeling that we had maybe walked in on something. When we eventually started talking to the person at the counter, she was a little more cheery, but definitely seemed a bit removed. The guy in the back was definitely removed. It never quite felt warm or fully friendly. Despite this, we still decided to get food to go. I got the medium meal(2 proteins, 3 sides) with a curry, some sort of shredded soy protein thing, veggies, mac & cheese, and greens(kale & spinach). It was all pretty bland. The mac & cheese had no detectable cheesiness, it was just kind of like bland noodles. That was super disappointing. Greens seemed pretty unseasoned, veggies so bland I forgot them, soy protein was slightly sweet but that’s about it, curry was bland but with a hint of curry flavor. What looked like a bowl of potential yum, ended up just being a bowl full of disappointment. It was still filling and I would come back to check it out at maybe a more«prime» time and also try their soft serve coconut yogurt, but I’m definitely not running back.

Delicious, affordable, hearty, and nutritious vegan food. Although the sign says vegetarian, everything is indeed vegan. Unfortunately for those with cashew nut allergy, the mac and cheese is off limits but i was able to enjoy everything else without a problem. I really don’t think you can go wrong with whatever you choose. They have a great selection of soups. My mother had the red pea soup and she said it was great. They were out of vegan carrot cake when I went, but I hope they will have it next time. As I was leaving I also realized that they have vegan coconut ice cream with many toppings like oreos! Can’t wait to go back and try that too! Store is small, well kept and clean. Employees and store owner were very kind, courteous, helpful and friendly. I’ll be back soon!

I truly did not expect to like the food here. My boyfriend insisted that I try Hartwell since they have gluten free dishes but I was skeptical and kept passing by this place hungry but never stopping in. Finally, due to limited options in my new ‘hood, *sad face*, I came by one evening to get some dinner for E and myself. I got the small meal($ 6) that comes w/1 protein and two sides and got the medium($ 9) for E– 2 proteins, 3 sides. The nuggets that came w/my meal were delicious but I wished they had given me more as opposed to 3 pieces only. The brown rice/chili sides that came with it were delicious though. My boyfriend loved his lemon stew and curry proteins– I’ve never seen him eat a meal so fast I thought he was going to get indigestion. Overall, Hartwell is a solid vegetarian place that even meat-eaters will love.

Met the owner and chef. He was kind and allowed me to sample anything on the menu so I could make my own decision. Had the lunch special with bbq protein, lo mein, and cabbage. It was so good. I highly recommend this restaurant and it has an A rating.

4.5 Stars!!! Whether you’re a vegetarian, vegan, or not, it’s worth checking this place out. The food here is absolutely delicious! The staff were friendly! We got the medium meal(2 proteins, 3 sides)($ 9). We didn’t have that many protein choices before because they ran out of a lot of the protein stuff when we were there. We got the jerk, nuggets with mac n’ cheese, corn, & the spinach. Everything was delicious! The only reason why we can’t give a perfect 5 stars rating was because we thought the mac n’ cheese was a bit bland. The mac n’ cheese wasn’t bad, just not perfect. If we happen to visit the place again, which we most likely will, we’ll still order the mac n’ cheese again. If you like spicy food, make sure you get the jerk. Wow, it was really good! Tons of flavor! As for the place, it’s really small, only have one table inside & one outside. This place is more like a take out place. If you’re happen to be in the area, definitely worth stopping by. Great food! Great service! Great value!

Simply #amazeballs! LOVE! This place is down the street from my apartment and I just stumbled upon it looking for food. They have the best lunch special around and at $ 5 for 1 protein and 2 sides it’s perfect! Especially if you’re hungry but not starving. They’re generous with portions and I was even allowed to test a few of the proteins before making my final choice. The food is really tasty and the service is great. I’ll definitely be coming back again and again! Sidebar: The lunch special is $ 5 M-F from 1−3PM.

This place will convert me into a vegetarian or vegan, I got the Large vegan meal of 4 sides and 3 proteins which came in a bento box. The proteins include — Curry, Nuggets, Falafel Balls(gluten free/soy free). The sides included — fiesta corn, whole wheat lo mein, brown rice, and last side of Spinach, Kale, and Garlic. It taste really good. There is taste and texture in the food. It did NOT disappoint. You can take out the food because there are only two small tables in the store.
