So I can’t attest to the crowded nature of this place on a Saturday night, but if you’re looking for a chill spot on a Thursday night to quench your thirst. I recommend this spot. Perks? They’ve got board games, lots of space, and free popcorn. Who doesn’t love popcorn? That’s what I thought.

Great bar and a great staff. One of my favorite neighborhood bars. Fair drink prices and there’s a nice outdoor area.

The aesthetic of this place is very charming, especially the seating area in the back. Don’t order a cocktail though, as the bar tenders aren’t very well versed. Stick to beer or wine, of which they have a pretty good selection. It can get pretty loud, so it’s not the best place for a date. They have a pretty cool jukebox, but they don’t have the sound figured out, so it turns out to be a waste of money since you can really only hear it while inside the bathroom. If you don’t mind yelling over a crowd, and you’re not looking for a mixed drink, it’s an ok place to go.

The bar itself is underwhelming. The free popcorn with powdered flavored toppings is also good for when you’re drinking beer and get hungry. The service from what I could tell is OK– not good, not bad. My issue with this place is the customers. Last night I was there and watched as some shady couple picked up my bag from the floor and started to walk towards the door. I got up and confronted them, and literally took MYBAG out of their hands and said, «What are you doing with my bag?» And the male dumb@ss says, «Oh, I thought this was our bag but I guess we didn’t have one…» And the female dumb@ss downs her beer and quickly walks out of the bar. If you want to surround yourself with shady @ss people, or people who loudly argue about their political views that NOONE cares about, then by all means come here. But you can find a MUCH better place with a better vibe, better clientele, and better drinks in Park Slope. Beauty Bar is two doors down after all, and that place is way better than this mediocre bar. Also, there are better bars further down Fifth Ave in South Slope. Don’t waste your time at this place.

Solid neighborhood bar with free popcorn — pretty cool, huh? The crowd is mixed. I’ve come on a weekday and seen lots of locals and I’ve come on a Friday night and seen way too many hipsters. Altogether though it’s a solid Mid-Park-Slope crowd — nothing new to get used to. Beer selection is quite extensive if you consider their bottles. I love some of their German variety and that’s pretty much all I ordered. In the spring and summer months their back patio is a true gem — secluded from the rest of bustling Brooklyn and with nice colors on their wall!

Great options on drinks & a good atmosphere. They also have a chalkboard set behind the bar where you may also buy your friend a drink whenever they go visit, I’m unsure of how long the offer lasts, but either way, very creative of them.

I recommend Bronx’s El Serrano — awesome beer with a little heat up front and a smooth finish… Also recommend the pickle backs!

Very laid back spot, exactly what a dive bar should feel like. Inexpensive but well made drinks. Bartenders were friendly, polite and accommodating. The free pop corn is a cool touch as well as the board games. The chalk board bathroom walls were fun to read. Someone even had there pet dog in the bar and I thought that was really cool. The music could have been better, it was all rock and oldies and I wish they played more top 40 but I will def go back and you should try it.

The free popcorn was a nice touch. The place was cool to chill for a little bit. The bartenders were not the cool bartenders. They were not bland.

This is by far my favorite bar in Park Slope. The prices are right, the beer selection is great, and it seems that the bartenders have pretty good taste in music. Plus there is a French bartender that can do magic tricks. Could you ask for more?!

I know everyone loves this place and I really want to too but the abrasive older bartender definitely isn’t a selling point. He’s much less obnoxious to the 20-something girls than other patrons, eh?

High Dive is quirky beer-lovers bar in the heart of Park Slope. Take a look at the chalkboard beer list and you’ll be amazed. The taps change weekly and include some beer rarities. In addition to the exquisite selection of brews, the place boasts free popcorn and a wild variety of board games to play with friends. Love this place.

Best neighborhood bar in park slope. Great atmosphere, friendly bartenders. Whether you are going out late, or having an afternoon cocktail, this is the place to hang out. Lots of locals, free popcorn, pinball, and a back patio to enjoy.

This place reminded me a lot of my own watering hole in Portland. Drinks are reasonably priced and the atmosphere is cool! They even have a small outdoor patio, which is great for smokers like me. I definitely recommend this place!

High Dive is a cool neighborhood spot. They have great beers, free popcorn, a cozy backyard, and board games(including Scrabble and Cards Against Humanity). Bartenders are quick. Drinks aren’t overpriced. And there’s a reasonable amount of seating.

The name says it all. A dive bar with some class. An oxymoron, maybe, but a fun bar that sticks to the basics of dives without all the problems and dirty bathrooms. Having voyaged here after midnight, there were many things to love about this place. Its dimly lit bar was contrasted with a somewhat lively crowd. Not too big and not too loud, but you will be saying excuse me a lot to head to the bathroom, which are clean and have lots of chalk! Up front they open up the large windows as you gaze out to Fifth Ave watching silly drunk girls getting cabs while a nice gentle breeze ruffles your hair. In the back there are some tables and some board games for playing, and some customary popcorn with all the seasonings for eating. Yes they have Old Bay and even Orville Redenbocker would admit that this stuff is damn good on popcorn. And how could I forget about the beer? They have a mighty fine selection of drafts. A solid selection of Bells and Founders and each of these will set you back about 7 bucks. If you feel that you don’t have good taste or that BK is loosing its Pabst roots, then they have that as well, and its a good price for happy hour. All and all, a great place to relax with some friends, meet some new friends, run into people you once knew, or just stare at a blank wall like a weirdo. Even if you choose this last option, you will at least be with some good company and have a damn good beer in your hand.

I really really like this bar. I’m not sure if I even have reasonings for it. I’m also always trying to persuade people to pop in here but for some reason rarely do people follow me in here. With the exception of on my bender Sunday night. My friend Zaneta and her boyfriend followed because Al Di La had a 30 minute wait and this was less pricey than their wine bar. But the first time I was in here was after having a mini reunion with my sister Heidi Ho and our neighbors from New Jersey that we used to as tots play old school Nintendo games and Man Hunt with. If you don’t know what Man Hunt is you never lived. The bar was quieter than Union Hall and had a better selection of beers, I must say. I’m not sure what the happy hour deal is here because I’ve only been here later at night but nothing gets too insanely expensive. On this particular occasion I tried the Grimm Artisinal Ale because you know what, it sounded like Grimm’s Fairy Tales and I coincided the two and decided without trying it that it must be delicious. And it WAS. An incredibly intense Belgium Ale that was sweet and slightly hoppy, but held more of a wheat taste. What also is great about this place is the free popcorn. Free popcorn with really great toppings. Like Cajun and hot red pepper flakes and cumin and all of that jazz. It gets a little crowded from time to time and a little loud. What bar isn’t? But the music isn’t bad and its worth it. Ohhh, and they have board games!

As Katrina and other Unilocalers have indicated, this place is effing LOUD. Also, it’s not a «dive». Any place that has Allagash White on tap and charges 7 bucks for it is no dive. It’s a space station. Regardless, they have free popcorn, and Old Bay seasoning to put on it which is nice. Look here, you whippersnappers — I’m old, but I’m not THAT old. I don’t mind a loud bar. Hell, I like ‘em. Been to my fair share of ‘em. But this place… I couldn’t hear my date yelling across from me, and after about 15 minutes in the room, I could feel a headache coming on. When we left, and stepped out into the muggy Brooklyn night, I actually *sighed with relief*. That’s how loud this place is. Just turn it down like, one notch, and you’ll get a 4th star from me. Till then… well, I guess you do you.
