After no food turned up after an hour I called and they read me my order although they hadn’t made it. I waited another hour to get food. The food we got was pretty bad even for Chinese food. Li me in was greasy gross and had just mushroom and celery. The dumplings were a doughy mess. I won’t order from them again not sure how they got 4 stars. The Chinese places in green point are all lacking, I will probably only order from Wild ginger from now on.

My partner and I order Hop Lee Kitchen on nearly a weekly basis. Delivery is always on time if not ahead of it. The food is your favorite stay in, veg out, eat fried rice and french fries New York habit. Couldn’t recommend more strongly.

Small wonton egg drop is now $ 2.25? It cost $ 1.75 a block away at Green Leaves and it tastes much better there. Only came here because green leaves was closed

Steps to enjoy Hop Lee Chinese food: 1. Order your food 2. Wait 20 minutes for delivery 3. Place your food directly in the trash because it’s disgusting.

How is it that the best Chinese food often comes from the cheapest places? The portions are generous and the food is consistently fast and good when we order from this neighborhood place. A few more menu choices would get them a 5th star from me, but I have no complaints about what they do have.

This place deserves more love. It’s an insanely good value by calories per $. The food is not spicy at all. The meat servings are generous, though the veggies portion of meat dishes is usually about 3. As in, 3 pieces of broccoli and lots of meat. This is fine as your Chinese place.

this place is my favorite Chinese place in the neighborhood, cheap and they don’t charge any extras for delivery or what not. They hook it up with the dumplings and usually get to my place within 15 minutes of ordering.

My mind is entirely boggled how this place has an overall 4-star rating. Am I in the the Twilight Zone? This is my first and last take-out from here. The fried wontons were horrendous. They were not crispy, shining in grease and tasted like oil. My boyfriend’s general Tso’s chicken had barely any meat and tasted like giant puffs of fried dough. My Chicken with mixed vegetables were better — but just barely. The meat and vegetables were fine but the sauce lacked flavor. Stay away if you have any taste buds.

Really love this place for take-out. It’s no frills. No real seating. And the food is simple and very very cheap. Could believe my Szechuan tofu(more than enough food) was only $ 4.75. And they have fortune cookies! Yay!

Solid Chinese takeout in Greenpoint. It’s also an ‘A’ consistently on the Health Boards(which can’t be said for some of the other Chinese Restaurants in the area. They are also SUPPPERRR fast when it comes to delivery. Like, crazy-i just hung up the phone and you are rining my doorbell — fast. They also accept credit cards. I recommend!

My fiancé and I have trouble deciding on whether to order from Chinese Musician or Shang Hai Lee(each of us thinks the others favorite is gross), so last night I decided we should try something different and we ordered from Hop Lee. It was good. I order a pint of Kung Pao Chicken, asked for it spicy. It came lightly spicy(next time I’ll say very spicy). Most importantly the chicken in it looked good. It was nice looking pieces of white meat. The veggies were nicely cooked, not cooked to death, just cooked. Chris got a pint Sesame Chicken, which was good(came w a lot of chicken &3 pieces of broccoli) We also ordered a quart of Broccoli w garlic sauce, light on sauce, that was fine. And a quart of egg drop soup, that was fine, better with black pepper added in. I asked for one of our white rice’s to be pork fried rice, and that came and was good pork fried rice. The total was $ 23. It came with 2 cans of coke, that we did not order(thrown in for free?). Delivery time was fine, not super fast, not slow. We have enough leftovers for lunch today. They use styrofoam containers. :(Does anywhere in Greenpoint use the old chinese take-out white boxes? We both agreed that Hop Lee Kitchen was the place we’d order from going forward.

This is definitely one of the better Chinese takeout places in the area. Food is pretty consistent and tasty. We had ordered from Chinese Musician before and it was awful. Hop Lee is our go to when we want quick and delicious delivery.

Everyone is super friendly and the food is actually really good. I ordered there twice this week(don’t judge me) and they delivered within 10 minutes of calling. Yes– the food was fresh, hot, etc. There’s actually shrimp in the shrimp fried rice, beef and broccoli is good and cheap lunch specials. Also to note: The delivery guy is so nice and has the coolest bike helmut in life therefore making him my hero.

Friendly service but mediocre food. It did fit the bill for my needing a quick Chinese food fix on the way home. The Sesame Chicken came with three broccoli pieces to about 20 pieces of chicken, and half a tub of rice. That’s great if you hate veggies, but I would have liked a little more balance. The chicken tasted good but the rice seemed a little off. Compared to some of the Chinese food I’ve had in central CT, this would rate 4 to 5 stars. But considering how many Chinese joints there are on Manhattan Ave., Hop Lee was only so-so. It tasted better than some that I’ve tried, but I’ll stick with Chinese Musician for the best Chinese food I’ve found in Greenpoint so far.

I ordered Roast Pork lo mein(pt $ 4.50) and an egg roll($ 1.25). Pretty busy and crowded on a Thursday night at 5. There’s one table with four seats to wait on your food or sit and eat. The guy I ordered from was nice. The order took 15 minutes. Everything was delicious.
