I used Russell and his crew to move a piece of furniture from a storage facility to my home. I did a quick search online and found his info, called got a fair flat price. He was quick to respond and meet my needs in terms of short notice (had a family member lined up for Monday but hello snow in March!!!) and small time frame window (had to meet owner of storage space at 10am). They were on time and did everything. Moved other pieces out of the way in the storage room that were blocking the sideboard I was taking. They were very careful with moving all the furniture pieces. Quick delivery and set up. So glad I found this resource and will definitely use again.

Great service, reasonable prices, correct item counts, no complaints about a walk-​up, delivery on short notice, and more. Couldn’t be happier with this service.

Russell (the manager) and his team helped me move in last week. After sitting on this review for a week, I would not use his service again and could not refer his service to anyone I knew. I have been on Unilocal for years and have never felt the urge to write a truly negative review until now.
Initial contact with him will be very speedy as he wants to make business with you. Afterwards though, communication is more limited and his promises change and you can’t help but feel like he is lying to you and adding on charges.
If you are looking for a cheaper option to Ikea delivery, this isn’t even much cheaper than the real guys. Ikea cost of delivery and installation would have been ($ 170 + $ 250 = 420). Russell with all his added fees is ($ 150 + $ 225 + $ 10 = 385). You are saving a minimal amount given the hassle and headache of working with this company.
If it was only a few of these below mentioned negatives I would have given him a 3star rating — no one can be perfect and this is a difficult job. The fact that ALL of these things came together created the most dissatisfying service I’ve ever received.

Cons — spoiler: there’s a lot
1) Russell was late and took longer than the quoted time frame to assemble everything.
2) Charged me extra for the additional time. If you made a promise on how long you would take to assemble, it is your job to uphold it — not my job to pay extra off of the agreed-​upon quote.
3) They left the job unfinished the first day because they didn’t have all the parts.
4) They purchased the wrong rug & light bulbs from Ikea. Took the receipt and said they would be back the next day to fix the purchase and finish the installation.
5) LIED TO ME and said my items were out of stock at Ikea the next day. I checked online and there were 75+ items in stock. I had to go to Ikea the next day and spend 1.5 hours fixing HIS responsibility. (Note. he took the receipt… so if I hadn’t taken a picture of the receipt, I would have no way to correct HIS mistakes)
6) NEVER SHOWED UP the 2 days after to finish the job. He said he tried to make it but 2 days, and you couldn’t come by to install 1 item quickly? Yeah ok. I think it’s more you got your payment and you didn’t care anymore.
7) Said he would come the weekend afterwards to finish installation. I had to hunt him down with multiple emails and calls to get him to respond. Suddenly not so responsive, eh?
8) Assembler was 2 hrs late to finish the project. Russell charged me another $ 10 because of «cost of transit» for the assembler. Note… if you had finished the job at first, there wouldn’t be an additional cost of transit. I never asked you for reimbursement for when I had to fix your mistake at Ikea. I paid this additional cost because it is minimal/​petty to fight over and the assembler is not at fault and i would never want to rip off the little guy. But, the fact that Russell feels entitled to add additional charges to fix his own mistakes is the ultimate mark of a poor businessman who has NO respect for his clients.
Pros: — because there are a few
1) The movers and assemblers are great guys. They assemble everything with detail and care.
2) The Ikea pickup service is very convenient. You can just give Russell your shopping list and (theoretically) everything should be taken care of.

Rusell and his team are one of the best ikea delivery and assembly team I ever used.
Fast, efficient, he gave me a flat fee and kept his word to it, really a pleasure to work with. he met me at ikea did waste his time went to get merchandise and drive back then assembly. Feel so professional and seamless the whole process.
Since they were so professional, I will be using him and his team for my moving too. Will update my review for using him as moving company.

I went with the service because it seemed very straightforward, & I wanted someone who would pick up the items for me and bring them to me and assemble them. I had a friend who recently had a bad experience with Russell, but I was in need of someone who could deliver on the weekends or late at night. many of the other services do not deliver after 5 p.m. or on Saturday and Sunday at all. I recommend just relaxing at home and letting someone deliver it to you. we ordered 7 items and it took over four and a half hours to complete the assembly.
I would use the service again and in fact I plan to.

These people are lifesavers. So we decided to go to IKEA early morning on Saturday to get their same day delivery, but apparently, it’s gone by noon. Because we were on a tight schedule, we were trying to figure out how to move everything last minute. We called this company and voila! They came in 30 minutes to move all our furniture from the IKEA Brooklyn into Manhattan. And it was less than what we would’ve paid for same day delivery at IKEA. The only downside was that we only paid for delivery so we had to find another way to move ALL OUR FURNITURE into the building. The people are really nice and kind of of laughed at our situation (three girls trying move all our beds, table, desks, mirror, etc.). I’ve learned my lesson with IKEA and will definitely call these people again next time I need to buy furniture.

Russel was quick to respond and offer a very compelling package and pricing. He was very flexible with timing and his guy showed up on time, worked quickly and efficiency and left the area very clean.
My only issue (which is why I gave 4 stars and not 5) is that Russel told me he would come with a team of two and would take 1.5 hours, but only one guy showed up and it took him 3 hours. So it cost me the same, but I had to stay at the apartment longer than I planned.
Otherwise, very recommended vendor!

WOW — Russell really dropped the ball on this one. I wanted to purchase a couch w/​chaise from Ikea and use Russell again since it was so easy the first round.
My building only allows for deliveries like this from 9−5pm on Monday-​Friday so I had to take a day off of work to get this couch.
I texted him on a Monday to see if he was available on a Wednesday. I said I would be getting a couch so I would need him to meet me at the Ikea loading zone w/​the couch, take me and said couch back to my apt and possibly assemble it.
I said about ¾pm for the pick up and that I would text him when I was in line for the furniture pick up to allow plenty of transit time for him to reach Ikea.
I got an ‘OK’ text from his number on Tuesday night. I was also at Ikea on Tuesday to make sure that the couch I wanted was indeed what I wanted and that it was in stock for me to pick up on Wednesday. I should have just ordered delivery from Ikea then and there…
Anyway, I got to Ikea a bit early on Wednesday and was able to pay for the couch and wait at the pick up window.
At 3pm I texted Russell to say I was in line for the pick up and to give me a text when he was close to Ikea so I could meet in the loading zone.
No answer
At 3:50pm I texted Russell to say I picked up my furniture and that I was ready to meet him in the loading zone.
No answer
I then called at 4:02 and left a message.
at 4:03pm I get a text ‘GUYS JUST CALLED ME, THEY IN ACCIDENT SAYS.’ as well as ‘CAN YOU TAKE A TAXI SERVICE THERE?‘
WHAAAAAATTTT???
Of course I hope no one is hurt and that everyone is ok but come on. Would I have gotten any response had I not called???
And no, I can not take a taxi from Ikea with a couch.
Needless to say, that was the only text message I got from Russell. No phone call, no text message with any sort of applogy, nothin’.
Bummer.
So I had to schedule a delivery w/​the Ikea delivery service after all that. I could have gotten a 7−11pm window if my builing allowed it but no, next day between 11−3pm. So even though the couch arrived at around 1pm, I still had to take another day off.
Good thing I won’t be getting anymore large items from Ikea anytime soon.
Sorry Russell but I won’t be using your services or recommending you to anyone after this experience.

Russell has helped me three times in my two years in New York. The first two were delivering furniture from IKEA to Manhattan, and the latest was a move from Manhattan to Brooklyn. Each time, Russell has been prompt, professional, and affordably priced.
Russell and his colleagues do their job very well and go the extra mile. During my latest move, Russell took care to wrap up my mattress and box spring in plastic so that they wouldn’t get dirty during the move. He even fixed a small crack in my box spring that was there from months ago.

I dont write reviews, and this is my first review as I felt compelled to give feedback to one of the best movers /​furniture delivery experience I had New York. I have been in NY for 10 years and through 5 moves.
I moved for the 5h time and needed new furniture, I dreaded assembling an IKEA sectional couch. Here come Russel to the rescue, I emailed him my list a couple of days and he promptly confirmed.
He came on time and with the stuff from IKEA, he unpacked everything and we figured out that he forgot the legs of the table at IKEA, he went back and was back in an hour, so fuss no extra charge.
The couch was assembled like a pro so was the dining table and four chairs. He did the whole thin in 2 hours, if it was me it would have taken 6 hours and lot of swearing.
SO one of the best value for money proposition, I recommend this as a guy who is quite handy.

Just recently did a small move with Russel and his colleague. Good experience — he kept in touch via text and gave us updates as he had to reschedule the time from 11am to 1pm — no biggie for us.
They were patient despite not having a real parking spot on E 47^th, moving furniture down and accross the street. They moved a king sized bed, bed frame, a really heavy coffee table and other misc stuff for us. We even got a ride to Queens in his sprinter van where we were headed. Finished the whole process in 1.5 hrs. They were the lowest we could find for a small move (most others charged $ 300up).
Would hire them again for furniture pickups or small moves.

It’s been a few years since I’ve written a Unilocal review, but Russell and his team deserve it! We had them shop for and deliver a large L-​shaped pull-​out couch from the Brooklyn Ikea (Friheten) to our UWS apartment. They showed up right on time on a Sunday morning, and they finished the assembly in half an hour. By comparison, a YouTube video showing the assembly of the same couch was over 2 hours long! They also had the best prices compared to the other Ikea delivery services you’ll find on Unilocal.I will definitely call Russell again!

I usually do not write reviews, but Russel and his colleagues deserve a major recognition and a glowing review for their excellent execution of a last-​minute Ikea delivery request on a Sunday.

Today, I was in an urgent need to obtain some furniture from Ikea, but initially became quite disappointed after finding out that most of these businesses do not operate on the weekend. However, Russel came to the rescue and was very responsive to my inquiries, stayed in touch with me via texts/​emails and answered all the questions I had.
I called him at 11:30 a.m., sent him the shopping list at 1.m. and was informed soon after that he had already arrived Ikea to gather the items on my list. By approximately 2:30 pm, Russell and his colleagues rang my door bell and efficiently transported all the items into my apartment. He thoroughly identified each piece to confirm with me that all the items were retrieved correctly. Due to the limit of cash withdrawal at my bank, I was not able to pay Russel the total amount in cash, yet, he was understanding and graciously accepted credit card & check payment.
In sum, very professional, attentive, efficient, and affordable service — $ 160 for delivering 18 packages/​273 lbs in 2.5 hour time frame on a Sunday, and 100% stress-​free. Need I say more?

Russell and his associate bought my furniture from IKEA, delivered it to my home in Manhattan, assembled all of it, and did all this in the middle of Winter Storm Juno. They didn’t even get upset when the IKEA store closed unexpectedly, and instead drove to a different store to fulfill the order.
Very thorough in their assembly, responsive to my emails & phone calls. Great service overall.

BEWARE-​NO SHOW!!!
Just like Sana — he didn’t show up for mine either. We texted and agreed on doing it today. Russell said to call when it’s time for him to go so I called when I reach the checkout-​no one picked up. Funny thing is: the phone rang 1 – 2 times then go to voicemail. THIS MEANS THAT HE DECLINED MY CALLS-​not that he is away or not near his phone. I tried to call him 15 times, as well as texts, in the span of an hour then gave up and decided to do the home delivery service from ikea instead. Much better customer service and turn about to be much cheaper ($ 89 for same day and no extra charge for walk up). Seriously, people, beware of this guy. I don’t know what happens since he received such good review in the past but this happened two times in a roll so I suggest you go look for this service somewhere else.

What a joke. I emailed Russell Sunday night about using this company to pickup stuff from IKEA, deliver, and assemble. Russell was pretty responsive via email and we agreed that I would meet him at 10 am at IKEA Brooklyn on Wednesday so I could pay with my credit card (didnt want to have that much cash on me).
I get to IKEA right at 10 and text Russell to say Im there. No response. At 10:15 I write him a quick email. No response. At 10:30 I call, no answer. At 11 I call again and finally get through to him. Russell doesnt really speak english well but he kept muttering the delivery truck was there. So I ask where should I meet him and he hangs up. I call again and email twice. No response. At noon I called it quits and head home.
So more or less this company wasted 3 days leading me on and 4 hours of my life getting to and waiting at IKEA. Terrible customer service. There are much better companies out there. Stay clear.

My husband and I had been casually thinking about replacing our uncomfortable sofa we hastily bought just 4 or 5 months ago after moving into a new apartment and in dire need of seating. This past week, I decided to stop being so casual. On Friday, I shopped at a few places and finally, on Saturday, decided that we would go with the love seat size of the Ikea Kivik series, from which we previously owned a sofa size piece. On Sunday, I wanted to go to the store to see the different fabric colors and I called Russell that morning before venturing out to the Brooklyn store to take a look to get an estimate for delivery/​assembly. He answered right away and was quick to assist me with an estimate and insisted that he could even deliver that evening. As I was unsure about whether or not I wanted to purchase the couch, I told him I would call him from the store.
Long story a little shorter, decided to hold off to figure out logistics of getting rid of our crappy sofa and ended up following up with Russell Tuesday morning. He was very accommodating as to scheduling delivery for that evening. He talked me into the shopping service (where I simply provided him with the article # and his guys would purchase from the store), delivery (to Greenwich Village in Manhattan) and assembly (1 hour estimate, $ 50/​hr) for a total of $ 150 (oh yeah… I live in a 3^rd floor walk up!). I was even able to negotiate an extremely reasonable price with Russell for his guys to carry our old sofa out of our apt, down the 2 flights of stairs, into their truck and AWAY from our apartment (super was giving me a hard time about leaving our sofa on the street for bulk collection and I didn’t want to ruffle feathers). He estimated a delivery window for me of 7p-8p…the guys showed up at 7:22p…per-freaking-fecto. Took them about an hour to bring up the pieces, bring out the old couch, AND assemble the new couch. I paid the price Russell estimated for me just earlier today (plus the price of the love seat, for which we received the receipt). It’s 9:30p and I’m now relaxing on the couch with my husband and with the Rockets game on, having gone through this seamless process of purchasing, delivering, and assembling a new piece of furniture in the city… with no car (a process that I have been mentally avoiding for weeks due to my fear of it’s likely annoyances), with HUGE thanks to Russell, his team and their significant assistance!
