Dr. O is still the best. Took our senior cats for a checkup yesterday. Cats were a little anxious due to the trip over the bridge from Staten Island. Dr. O and staff are very kind and caring. He gave them a chance to relax before completing the exams. Cats respond very well to Dr. O. He called today to give us the results of the blood test. All is well. DEFINITELY worth the trip over the bridge for great pet care.

Dr. Osterman is the best! He took care of all my dogs and also boarded one (who I think came back better than I left him). Wholeheartedly recommend.

I needed a vet as soon as possible. When I called I got an appointment for the same day. I was a little worried because of the mixed reviews but figured I would have to test it out myself. It was the best decision I ever made!!! Yes i admit they are a little slow but the service was a one of the best. The vet checked my dog princess thoroughly and advised me how much treatment would come out to ahead of time. Price was not bad at all, I was happy to pay it after everything he did.

Great doc and everyone is friendly and they are great with dogs. Tho the service is a bit slow tho but the doctor is very thorough

If there anything more difficult about pet ownership it’s deciding when to take your pet to the vet and be at the mercy of high priced procedures and tests. Then you thank your lucky stars when you find a place like Kings Bay Vet because there you find out that the staff are upfront about costs and passionate about their work. One day I noticed that my kitty had a brown colored tooth and it didn’t seem right for her young age of 4 years. I looked up a lot of information and was sure she had a cat cavity. Turns out I was right which meant she needed it to be extracted. Ugh! How much would this cost me? Well, a lot! However, it was an investment I wanted to make because I know that she will be better off later on. Dr. Osterman with his gentleness and professionalism agreed to do the procedure as soon as her blood-​work was complete and OK (which took about 20 minutes to find out). Minou, my kitty girl, was back home by the afternoon and recovered remarkably fast! She licked her fur clean just six hours after the extraction surgery. I am 100% satisfied with my experience and I would like to encourage anyone who has the slightest doubts or apprehension about vets as me, to see for yourself what high quality service is available to you at Kings Bay Veterinary Hospital. And my final note, I appreciated the 2 phone calls I received from Dr. Osterman who checked on Minou’s progress with a sense of care that made me feel like Minou was more of a human than a cat.

They saved my cats life ! I had taken my cat to my old vet 3 times saying that she just wasn’t her self The old vet told me she was fine over and over but I knew there was something very wrong. A lady I met on the bus told me about Kings Bay Veterinary she told me how wonderful Dr O was with her cat and that his daughter was just as good.
It turned out that my cat had a very bad tooth infection and that she had heart damage from it. Dr O did everything right and they were all so extra sweet with her. She is great now and her heart is improving. I have taken our other kitty to both Dr’s O and all I can say is they are both wonderful. staff is very nice and what other vet gives you their cell number in case of an emergency. I just brought in my new dog and he found out that she had Lung Worms 1^st case he ever saw. I had gotten a clean bill of health on her two weeks before from a Naples FL Vet. They didn’t catch it and they have lung worms in the south. Dr O said he had never seen a single case here. Yet he caught it thus now saving her life too. What more can I say. I don’t know how anyone could complain about this office Lets see Great Vet’s YES, Nice and Helpful staff YES, What’s not to love?

As good as it gets

A little out of the way from my house but Doctor Osterman is so nice. He made time to see my cat and was very gentle with her. His assistant Danielle was so helpful and treated the cat as if it was her own. I would definitely take my cat here again.

Brought my kitten here for her final booster & rabies shots. I had a 12:00 appt, got there on time, but the wait was well over an hour. My guess is Saturday is their busiest day (like any other clinic/​vet). Treatment took less than a half hour though. I brought my kitty in and the daughter of this father/​daughter operation was the one who treated her. My kitten was a bit apprehensive but the vet & her assistant were extremely gentle with her. Yes, the assistant had to hold her down, but it was in a very calm way, unlike the choking described by another reviewer. My kitten shuffled a little, but as they cooed and petted her a little, she relented. The Dr. had to dig in her ears to treat ear mites, and of course for a cat that’s unnerving but she came through it just fine– no scratching, clawing, hissing, meowing or anything. I gave my kitten a little treat when she was done and when we got home she was right back to being her playful, frisky self. She wasn’t stressed out at all. So judging by that, I’d say they did a great job, and I’m happy to take my cat back there again. I trust them. My only put-​off is the wait time when I actually HAD an appointment.

The woman vet does not know how to handle cats. My cat can be a little feisty, but she’s never a ferocious tiger. Instead of calming my cat down, they started grabbing her, wrapped her inside a towel, while the assistant was pretty much chocking her with her hands. My other experience with a different vet was completely opposite. Here the cat was throwing punches, growling like a tiger, while the vet and the assistant were trying to catch her and give her shots. Too much stress for the poor animal.
NOT coming back here again, that’s for certain. And advice for you, pet owners: IF YOUR PET IS STRESSED, AND THE VET CAN’T HANDLE IT, LEAVE THE PLACE RIGHT AWAY.

Dr O’s Daughter saved me cat Kate’s life when she found a cyst on her throat. Now we have a dog Jupiter and we bring him in for services. Both father and daughter are kind, caring, and friendly. The place is clean. The receptionist is nice and attentive. They send appointment reminders and if you have a personal request, they will go above and beyond to help you. AM

Kings Bay Veterinary Hospital is run by a father and daughter. It is spotless inside and you are greeted by a nice secretary. The woman who dealt with our cat Lola, was very nice and helpful. We have gone back a few times since then and trust her with our pets.
