Whilst in my pursuit for a good Brooklyn Bagel, I stopped by at this location of La Bagel Delight. So, super small ordering space, but there is sitting area inside and outside; the set up of the place is like a deli; no frills! I got the summer delight(2 egg whites, honey turkey, low fat cheese) on a garlic bagel with chive spread. I also got the freshly squeezed orange. The total came to about $ 13(w/tax); I think this is a bit more expensive but the orange juice was really good — refreshing, natural, perfectly sweet — and the bagel egg-sandwich was very good and kept me full for most of the day! The bagel was very soft and did not have a weird aftertaste, the crust was on the softer side but I liked that! It definitely tasted fresh. The employee who took my order was fast and friendly(not too friendly, this is a no frills place). Overall, good place, good food and large portions! I would not make the trip from Manhattan to Brooklyn just for this but if I was in the area, I would stop by.

It’s rare that I feel compelled to write a review, but this is «one of those times». I can’t help but feel simultaneously attracted and repelled by the slow inevitable hipsterization of Brooklyn. There are pluses and minuses… culinarily it’s the pizza and bagel that have taken the biggest losses. It has become increasingly difficult to find a proper slice and bagel. Anyone that knows anything about bread knows it’s the water that makes the bread. It’s the reason why bagels in NYC taste different from the ones in Boston, and why that Parisian baguette just doesn’t taste the same here. That being said, there are very few products made that are a lens to a terroir being the most basic and with such a wonderful international history than bread itself. The bagels here are genuine NYC bagels served by a cheerful staff that represents the mosaic of the city… get there before«they» are gone and the«gluten-frees» take over…“bagelover68″ out… mic drop

I have ordered from this La Bagel so many times and every time there is a strong chance of them messing up your order. This is such a shame because they have some of the best bagels in the neighborhood but you’re always wondering if they’ll finally get your order right or just mess it up like they usually do. I’ve had times even when they told me they saw what I asked for but already did it their way. I don’t understand that at all. If you see the customer wanted something one way and you do it wrong you redo the order. That makes a happy customer and you don’t have to worry about getting a crappy review like this one. Also when your order is wrong trying to call up is so frustrating because they could really care less if they messed up your order. Plus the main guy in charge acts like the mess up was your fault rather than their own fault. He is very rude and frustrating to deal with. Also this place is very inconsistent with their delivery times. One day I’ll get it in 20 minutes another day I’ll get the food in 2 hours. It’s very hit or miss at this place. It’s such a shame this La Bagel is poorly ran because the other one between 6th and 7th street is amazing. I would recommend that one over this one anyway.

This place used to be great — and then they fired everyone who made it run like a well oiled machine. In the past 4 months I’ve had the staff be extremely rude in the restaurant. This place has gone completely downhill in the last 6 months. There are better bagels, sandwiches and really all kinds of deli stuff around. Bagel World at Union &7th, Brownstone Bagel at Union &4th, the OTHER La Bagel Delight(owned and run separately) on 7th&7th, Brewshot at 1st&5th. Don’t bother giving this place your money — they don’t deserve it.

This place is a miserable stressful experience and their food is overpriced. They can’t manage the crowd, so ordering and waiting for food is very uncomfortable and hectic. Staff is rude and forgetful and they don’t work together. They used to be worth it as a cheap and easy option in the neighborhood. Now they charge over $ 5 for a basic breakfast sandwich on a roll. I can’t tell if the official prices are actually that nuts or if the staff uses the chaos to just name a price that people will pay to get the heck out of there. For the price and terrible experience you are better off walking in any direction to one of the much better options in the neighborhood.

This is my go to, reliable, damn-good-bagel, I’m-hungover-give-me-a-bbqsauce-bacon-creamcheese-bagel, bagel place. The staff are energetic and friendly, real neighborhoodies. The bagels are on point and the coffee is fine. The place itself is okay, nothing special décor wise, just a regular ny bagel place. Occasionally there is a line.

This is the best bagel place in Brooklyn! Service is quick and happy, even with a long line it moves fast. I’ve been to all the other bagel places in the neighborhood and nothing else even comes close.

Update: Tried again 2 months later after 1.5hrs and a few calls to the restaurant I gave up and called grub hub to complain at least they give you free credit every time these guys fail to deliver. Ordered delivery and after 3 calls and 2.5 hours later they admitted they forgot the order after they kept saying it’s on the way. They«apologized» and said they would make the order and deliver in 20 mins. I told them to forget it and get it together. This was almost at bad the time the same thing happened and they said the delivery guy was in a accident. The guy that time showed up 3 hours late and when I asked him about the accident he said he wasn’t in one.

A lot of bad reviews here and thankfully I have no complaints. Second time coming and it just gets better. The service was on point and they are very helpful, quick and efficient. They got my favorite bagel so I ordered an everything pumpernickel. I love pumpernickel bagels. They’re hard to find and not always good but here they are the bomb. I got the bagel with Vege cream cheese and they lay it on thick. The bagel and cream cheese taste amazing. I could not eat it all at once so I had to save the rest for lunch lol. It cost 3.90 so it’s cost efficient too! Overall it’s exactly what I want when I visit a bagel shop. So many options of food and fresh variety bagels and cream cheese. Plus coffee is legit too. I will come back again.

Seems they make up prices depending on the day… I bought a croissant at 3 dollars feeling they were kind of pulling the price out of thin air. The guy who charged me handed the money to cashier saying«i told her 3 dollars» … It was all a little fishy so I called 20 mins later after leaving just to see if I was right — I was told that in fact they are always 2.50 no tax So — I was up charged and I know its only 50 cents but I feel like they took advantage of that opportunity and of me End of the day — croissant even wasn’t good! Sorry but I had higher hopes for this place They need professional and honest staff…

The breakfast platter was undercooked and my bagel was very dry. I’m not sure I would recommend this place. This establishment is not run by the same people as the La Bagel Delight between 6th and 7th streets.

The only place I will get my sandwiches and bagels in Brooklyn. If you go in there hungry and want a sandwich these guys will make you a sandwich! The people that work here are amazing and are always sociable. I am born and raised in Brooklyn, have been going there all my life and have never been disappointed.

Great selection of muffins & bagels as well as spreads. Remember patience is a virtue when ordering their sandwiches because they are made to order and it’s something that’s worth the wait.

I prefer the location across from Methodist after my last encounter here. I work close to this location and have been coming here for years but after last week I will no longer give them my business. The place overall needs an upgrade recently it’s been looking run down. That’s the first complaint. My second is that the workers are extremely unprofessional, and the men last time made me feel so uncomfortable. One of them was looking at me in a very inappropriate way that another customer actually said something to him. It was blatant and obvious and made me feel dirty. I just wanted to get the hell out of there. Not to mention I picked a donut up and it was stale and hard. I didn’t even want to go back to complain.

Not a complete disappointment and definitely a very good cup of coffee. Bagel itself was ok — I most definitely have had better… there’s really not even much to say about it; it was better than a store bought bagel, how about that! Our choice for today was the health kick bagel — plain bagel, scooped out, with low fat cream cheese, lox, cucumbers, and red onion(sans tomatoes). All were pretty fresh, lox was on a saltier side, which became more pronounced once it had some time to sit. Overall, not bad — good to know the option is there though if a better one was closer, I wouldn’t want to return.

I don’t know what has happened to Bagel Delight. I have been going there for years, and always see the same, helpful, friendly, efficient people behind the counter. In the last few months, though, it seems that there has been a complete staff turnover, and things have ground to a halt. I waited 10 minutes yesterday afternoon for service, and there weren’t even a lot of people ahead of me, nor any indication that anyone had any sense of urgency. It’s too bad, too, because the bagels were terrific. I hate to say it, but I won’t be going back.

This place was ok, certainly not something I would ever rush out to again with all the great bagels spots around. We were driving by and hungry and decided to grab a bagel and egg sandwich. They weren’t huge and a little pricey for what you get. Plus the bagel itself was dry, not fluffy and big, and was overlooked. I probably wouldn’t go back but know people seem to like their other dishes like the lox platter.

This morning was my fifth visit to this La Bagel location and I will finally put my foot down and have this be my last. I order the same thing every time I go. Whole wheat everything, toasted, tofu vegetable spread, onion and tomato. Seems simple enough, right? Apparently not, since they messed that up 3 of the 5 times I’ve been there. The first mess-up, they gave me regular cream cheese instead of tofu. I thought to myself that because it was loud maybe they just misheard me. The second mess-up, it was early and the place was quiet. They loaded the bagel with lettuce instead of onion. The word«lettuce» never left my mouth, I don’t know why they did that. Well this morning I went there with a friend and ordered the usual, whereas my friend ordered, «wheat multigrain, tofu veggie spread, tomato». They ended up giving us both the same thing, two whole wheat everythings with tofu veggie and tomato, which wasn’t either of our orders. It was quiet, empty, and we enunciated everything loudly and clearly, so there’s no excuse for that other than disorganization or lack of care on their part. This was the last straw and I won’t be coming back. The Bagel Market located one block north is wonderful and they have never messed up my orders. I recommend going there instead, or to the other La Bagel location, located on 7th ave and 6 st. They are way more organized and consistent.

Since Bob left it’s always a zoo in here. Where the freak is the owner, the owners son or the owners daughter. Instead it’s packed all the time because they’re sooo slow, they have all new people working behind the counter.

I like my everything bagels to be aggressively seasoned, but this is NOT one of those places where the everything topping rains down over your parchment paper to be subsequently picked up and sprinkled back on top or smushed into the next bite, and that’s the kind of experience I tend to be looking for. Instead, the whole wheat everything bagels here are lightly touched with poppy seeds(mostly), white sesame seeds(sparsely), and the occasional HINT of onion and garlic, though those bits themselves weren’t anywhere to be seen… so I don’t know if this was just experiencing phantom flavors out of expectation. No rock salt at all, or caraway seeds for the real sticklers. That isn’t to say they don’t make a good bagel dough here. The thing itself was wonderfully squishy with a little golden exterior. They’re generously sized and really pack in the fillings too. On top of that the morning owner is super upbeat and a real friendly neighborhood kind of guy. It’s not that I wouldn’t come back but just saying… you’re better off seeking out onion/garlic breath in other parts of the hood.
