La Luz is an innovative environment for spiritual, artistic and physical exchange. We provide equal opportunity learning platform through affordable rehearsal space, classes, workshops, and events set in a community-​based atmosphere.

By offering space and support for local and international performers, teachers, scientists, and spiritual leaders to share ideas, we open possibilities and create an epicenter for positive change in the world.

La Luz will not only operate within its physical space, but also intends to create ongoing field projects and outreach programs, aimed at engaging a wider audience through artistic expression and awareness. We believe that individuals of all ages and walks of life deserve access to attainable practices and have the inherent ability to teach, learn and grow.

History

Established in 2011.

La Luz was conceived in Nov 2011. It is a community cultural center for the arts run by Evan Collier and Andriana Santiago.

I rented the upstairs dance/​comedy studio for a music video shoot. Andriana, the proprietor, was very helpful in going over my initial questions and showed great flexibility in switching our hours twice, from 10am-​7pm eventually to 7am-​4pm. I was happy that there was a side room so all the cast and crew could have a place to hang out when not working, a bathroom closely accessible, two space heaters so everyone was comfortable, a bunch of seating, and a number of folding tables and lighting options for a variety of setups. Little things like having soap and toilet paper in the bathroom were accounted for too. And the space itself is awesome, sizeable with great natural light. This was a very positive experience, and I’m glad to support a one of a kind, super personalized business venture like this in NYC!!!

So excited I get to be the first to review this gem. Had the pleasure of taking an improv workshop last night with one of the owners Andriana and it was FANTASTIC! Andriana is silly, loud, and FUN in all the best ways. She makes you really feel comfortable and opens her space up to make everyone feel welcomed and at home.
The space itself is great, after you climb up a fully painted stairwell you enter into a large open dance studio room. This space is really great and would be great for any type of event or class/​workshop.
They have different teachers join them each week, I’ll be back to keep checking it out but overall I’m a big fan of what they are doing here. Andriana told us about some of the other stuff she’s got up her sleeve that will be launching soon and it’s WONDERFUL! So great to have this creative space join our neighborhood. The class was also donation based which is always nice so drop in, take a class, and throw them some cash — they’re worth every penny!
