Long Wong Bakery

This is just a bakery so you cannot expect it to have service of a café. They just get things done. You line up wait for your turn and order. They don’t really follow the line sometimes and just skips you. But when it is your turn, they do get it done. You will need to make sure that you line up correctly because some of these employees like to do what ever the _​_​_​_​they want and will just eye you and then miss you to go to the person behind. This just leaves me in frustration. But I have to come here everyday since this is the only bakery near the train station. But its okay for a quick breakfast for the morning.

My #1 favorite Bakery place to get pastries or some Dim Sum in the morning for breakfast. They also have Rice dishes, congee and fried rice as an option if you want something different besides the regular/​usual pastries. It’s also very convenient for people as its close to The «N» subway line and the B82 bus.
The staff is very friendly and welcoming as they take your order. The Bakery is very small and can be crowded during the mornings when people are in a rush to go to work lol. Unfortunately the Bakery might possibly be closed for good because I’ve heard that the bakery has some roach and flies issue near the Kitchen area where the Chefs prepare the food which is crazy but until they resolve that issue then it could be possibly be closed for good unfortunately.

Rude Counter Staff.
They will look you dead in the face and take the next customer.
The place is infested with flies.
Spend your money else where… someplace where your presence is acknowledged and valued.

Very typical Cantonese bakery with a twist, they also have rice, congee and dim sum dishes.
not bad, but not something that you would particularly go out of the way for. A needed neighborhood joint.

Eh, it’s ok for a stop before heading to the N train. But hurts in comparison to some of the Chinese bakeries on 86^th St, bay pkwy. Roast pork buns and egg custards have little filling. My tried and true factor in reviewing is the big bun (die bow) test. The big buns here have bones in them. I like my big buns boneless please.

Dim sum is mediocre at best. But the service and quickness is good. I like their ice lemon tea. Great bites for the local community.

Seriously, this is like every other Chinese bakery out there. The buns, rolls and breads are all good. They got hot and cold tapioca drinks, and next to the N train kings highway station, so perfect to grab some food before work.
Service is pretty nice too, or maybe it’s because I always go in when it’s empty. The girl inside tells me they are open by 6 am. That’s definitely a plus!
However, if you’re rushing to get to work or just rushing in general, you might not want to complicate your order. The place is small, with only 2 – 3 staff at once. They are nice, but it will take longer than 3 minutes to get your order done, when other bakery only takes 50 seconds.
But since I always receive good service, I’m giving this place a four star (comparing it to other Chinese bakeries service)

It doesn’t seem like they have a lot of Cantonese food in this neck of the woods, so extra points for this bakery that serves up dim sum, congee and rice dishes. This is a bakery but I had no interest in eating the baked goods. I came here for the food!
I ordered shrimp dumplings and shrimp rice noodles dim sum (under $ 2 each). If you’re expecting restaurant quality dim sum, you’ll be disappointed. It’s not bad tasting, but the dumplings skin stuck to the paper and the rice noodles had only one tiny shrimp in each noodle. But with the cheap prices of their dishes, I can’t really complain about them. Definitely worth a try if you crave dim sum.
I also ordered the highly recommended chicken and salted fish fried rice ($ 5.50). This was really good! It had silky chicken, green peas, carrots, some eggs, and yummy salted fish.
Come here to enjoy cheap and good Cantonese food if you’re in the neighborhood.

I live a block and a half away from this place and I tend to go often on the weekends just to get breakfast, lunch, or even just a cup of coffee. I must admit that they are pretty cheap as what I buy there I end up paying 40% extra at other places. The bread is a must as they are nice and fresh. The rice dishes are also good except they are not always consistent. I have ordered the pineapple beef a few times and they seem to make it differently every single time. Overall, I like this place. cheap and fast.

I love this place if only for the fact that I can walk in there with $ 2 and walk out with a coffee and pastry (or two). I haven’t tried anything from the lunch menu yet, but their veggie bao is always warm and perfectly steamed and the bread loaves on the wall are so soft and so good.
Their bubble tea is not my favorite though, and the only reason I haven’t give more stars. There never seems be order consistency between servers. Same order, different girl? Different bubble tea. Plus it’s either no sugar, or too sacchrine-​y tasting. I’ve given the bubble tea so many chances, but have had to let go of having some tapioca goodness close to home. But no hard feelings, Long Wong is still a good go-​to spot for a snack.

Yes, the buns are very fresh ‘n SOFT, especially early in the morning. However, the BIGGEST WINNER has got to be the Chinese RICE DISHES! Surprisingly, the Chinese rice dishes cooked inside the kitchen are amazingly delicious! The rice dishes are never bland from the numerous times I have eaten here. Who would have thought that rice could taste so GOOD at a bakery? But in all honesty, the chefs deserve a praise because their WOK cooking skills are outstanding~! Please do not hesitate to try the rice dishes at Long Wong Bakery. You will not be disappointed. Come to think of it, some of the rice dishes may taste even better than some of the well-​known Chinese Restaurants. Don’t believe me? Try it and prove me wrong! You do not have to be a rice lover, like me, and you will still fall in love over heels for their RICE~!

This bakery is around the corner from a private student of mine and I’ve come in on occasion to buy a milk tea, or a 90¢ roast pork bun. Unfortunately, I get there late afternoon, when there are less choices and the items aren’t as fresh as other times of the day. This is a great place to grab a treat and go since it’s next door to the N train. The employees are always very nice. I’m going to have to stop by earlier in the day sometime to check out more of what they have to offer, or sit down and have a real dinner instead of one that costs less than $ 1 and can be eaten on the train.

Conveniently located right next to the Kings Highway station, Long Wong carries a decent array of standard Chinese bakery fare, as well as some dim sum and bubble tea. Although the milk tea and coffee were nothing memorable, Long Wong serves up a surprisingly good steamed roast pork bun. Now, I realize everyone’s taste in roast pork bun varies, but if the following description appeals to you, I really recommend that you try it on your next visit.
Long Wong’s steamed roast pork buns boast a lovely 3:7 bun to filling ratio. The filling itself is the sometimes loved, sometimes hated unearthly red color that is nowhere to be found in nature, yet something about its presence in roast pork just seems so right. The filling seems to have a 3:5 ratio of fatty meat to lean meat, with the occasional piece of unidentifiable vegetable floating around. Lastly, it is also just slightly sweet, mostly savory, which is perfect for me as I prefer my cha siu bau to be on the savory side.
Now that I’ve dedicated an entire paragraph to cha siu bau, let’s talk about their other items. Their bubble tea is on par with the bubble tea served at any other bakery, though if you prefer your bubble tea sweeter, you should choose to have yours made with powder instead of fruit. One of their more enjoyable buns is their fried chicken bun. I’m not actually sure if that’s what it is called but look for the bun with a slab of fried chicken, cucumbers, and tomato in it. And for a bakery, their dim sum isn’t half bad. The shredded pork and thousand year egg congee is on the thinner side but not bad. The cheong fun is also decent, although both are not restaurant quality.
Service is fast, efficient, and friendly.
All in all, I’m glad Long Wong is around for me to grab a last minute breakfast in the morning.

I’ve never eaten in, but I do get a take-​out from time to time on my way home. They have very nice congee (rice soup with meat or vegetables), tasty pork & veggies buns (6 per package in refrigerator, makes for a great breakfast or lunch at home if you heat it up and add some cheese), standard Chinese pastries, and tasty bubble teas. Apparently, not all their items are on the overhead menu, for I had no idea they have Nor Mai Gai. I will probably get it next time =)

Long Wong is (as noted by Melanie G in the first review posted) «super clean and friendly.» Furthermore they have excellent (and fresh) food and bakery goods. I have visited several times and some dim sum dishes, several buns and pastries. All have been exceptional.
I was at the bakery today (Saturday) before noon and they were already out of dim sum except for a few nor mai gai (sticky rice with chicken, quail egg and sausage wrapped in lotus leaf) and cha sui bau (roast or steamed pork buns)…that should not happen so early on a Saturday!
So an excellent bakery but one that needs to be sure it keeps its food available a little later in the day!
