I love the taste of this place, really high quality staff, and always fresh. Their Baklava is one of the best I ever had (including the places where the Baklava is coming from ;)
Every time I am there, I am buying sweets for my friends, who doesn’t live in Brooklyn, and you can tell when someone appreciate a good gift.
Try them, not so cheap, but worth the money…

this review is for mansoura’s tutley [or tutli], which is lebanese /​syrian turkish delight a.k.a. lokum or lokumu in turkish, if i am not mistaken.
having scoured southern california for good tutley, i stumbled upon mansoura’s website. since the last time i ate good tutley was when i lived it brooklyn near atlantic avenue, home to several superlative syrian bakeries, i figured it was a good bet.
additionally, the web site photos show abundant & bright green pistachios in the tutley i sought, two essential elements of good t. delight of the sort i sought.
i have been awaiting my tutley impatiently for eight days, which seemed interminable.
happily, the package arrived today & i happened to have a fellow foodie over at the moment it did. we all but danced around the room in tutley nirvana.
i am very pleased to report that the tutley has met all expectations.
i highly recommend mansoura as a source for quality tutley, which is very difficult to find, at least in california.
my father will be over the moon when i bring him his installment…

For me, the Knafeh steals the show here. Very good.

Whenever I am in Brooklyn I stop here to load up on Kaak and pick up a few pieces of baklava. Delicious. I’ve found Kaak in Brooklyn to be hit or miss (the miss usually lacking the right crunchiness), but this place is near perfect. Save some money by buying the sticks rather than the round variety. And these Kaak have a distinct cumin taste which I like. Kingsway Bakery across the street also carries Kaak (that I also like) but does not have the taste of cumin.

Mansoura is a relatively small shop with a big reputation. I’ve eaten pastries and confections from there numerous times, and have not been let down. I especially like the pistachio brittle, along with the Kataifi, which is made with tiny threads of succulent dough. The Baklawa is good, but since I’m not expert I can’t comment on if it’s «the best».
That being said, there are a few issues. First, they do not really have good customer service in a way that you’d expect from a bakery. Because they’re so well known, they don’t have to hem and haw for customers. For example, after spending around 15 to 20 bucks, I was told that there is a thirty dollar credit card minimum, and that it’s mainly for online orders. There was no signage to indicate this, and the owner seemed to be upset having to tell us and explain the minimum, and basically made it seem like it was a favor to use the machine. I have no problem with cash-​only businesses, but it should be clear and open for all to see. That being said, I would (and will) definitely go back again, because the food is unique and tasty regardless of the high price (standard $ 25-​$ 35 per LB).

On my last trip to New York, while in Brooklyn, I bought a box of Mansoura pastries They were simply delicious. They were fresh and tasty. This place has an old time feel. They have articles all over the wall about their writeups in different papers and magazines. These guys are serious about sweets. The box (presentation) is first class and I have to say that the people behind the counter are first class. They are sweet and took great care of me and spent a lot of time with me. They didn’t rush me even when I couldn’t make up my mind about what to buy.

This bakery is truly a Sephardic gem on Kings Highway. They make unique Egyptian pastries as well as nut and dried fruit candies of the highest qualities. I requested a special nut-​free order of Grebeh, a kind of shortbread cookies usually made with a pistachio in the middle, and it literally melted in my mouth when she gave me a sample.
Jack was a huge help, as well.
The bulk of their business is mail order and large orders for corporate customers throughout the metro area, which is why their goods are so fresh.

CLEVAH GIRL.
An incredibly friendly woman engaged me in a genealogical discussion for the good part of a half-​hour and I wasn’t even (that) upset; when I found my purchase came to over six bucks, I was, but maybe that’s all part of the strategy at Mansoura. (Is $ 6.20 for 4 balkava — 2 pistachio and 2 walnut — to be expected?) Granted, I was granted some «free» to eat as I walked (given the rationale that she «does trays» and not that it was out of the kindness of her heart, but I respect that (maybe it’s why she kept my nickel of change, that sly devil). As always, the baklava punch ya in the gut, but they were pretty flavorful, albeit not outstanding compared to some Greeker iterations I’ve had (not sure in which direction this skews and I’m too lazy to consult their site or read other reviews).

Hamdala! Not since Beirut have I experienced such sublime knafe and baklawe! Impossibly delicious, perfectly balanced, refined and made with the love of an artisan. Do not count the calories, the adrenaline will compensate you, and the giant hamsa on the wall will protect you from anyone who sees you eating it. Try the candied citrus: you will never find anything this good west of the Mediterranean. They actually ship to ISRAEL!

We got a gift of Baklava from a friend, it came in a beautiful box and it was the best baklava I have ever had!
I checked out their web site, as I thought these pastries were so tasty and I wanted to have them on a regular basis. Their web site is amazing and a very easy site to order from.
I ended up calling Mansoura because I had a question and Jack, the owner’s son, answered and he was so nice and he took care of all my questions.
Mansoura is the best if you need to send someone far away a tasty treat.

It is a pleasure finding a great chocolatier with old fashioned quality, unique desert products, and pastry. I was very impressed with the selection of chocolate, chocolates, apricot goodies, and pastries that they offer online. Mansoura has an incredibly good web site that is organized and easy to navigate.
Their customer service is great. They actually have people who know something about pastries answering the phone. I wanted some clarification on the chocolate items offered and I called the store with a few questions. I spoke to Jack. He was friendly and helpful.
This is a wonderful place to order corporate gifts. I have already started to use them as my one stop shop for impressive, unique treats. These pastries taste great, they arrive well packed in an impressive display, and my customers have been impressed and grateful when I send them gifts from Mansoura.

I recently took friends of mine shopping for Passover. The first stop was this fabulous pastry shop. I just LOVE baked goods and this old-​fashioned place fit the bill!
A lovely Moroccan woman was running the counter while busily filling orders for other customers. She told us the store is quite popular and even receiving orders from outside the NYC area — she’s even shipping her products to France!
Anyway, I picked up some traditional sweet kaak cookies, which have an orange flavor and would probably go great with tea. I also bought some almond croquants — bite-​sized almond brittle pieces dipped in chocolate. So DELICIOUS!
We even tried a couple pieces of baklava. Let me tell you — it was THE BEST I have EVER tasted here in New York. Most of the time it’s so sweet and doused in so much honey or syrup it’s almost inedible. These were perfect — moist and delicious without being sugary sweet. We tried the pistachio and it was great.
Besides these treats, we also found other types of cookies, like biscotti, and chocolate dipped nut clusters. We didn’t get the chance to try any of those, but that will definitely be something to look forward to when we return.
