The quality of the red velvet has changed drastically. The first time I had the red velvet here I thought it was the best but it was bland to me this last go around. The cake part was ok not overall sweet but the frosting part wasnt authentic cream cheese. They are using some type of cheap frosting smh. I do recommend getting the strawberryshort cake. The cake portion is good, the outside has a white whip cream which Isn’t to sweet. The inside consist of strawberry filing which is good also.

I travel all the way from Long Island just to have there brownies and I never go to bakeries for anything but this brownie is worth the distance to get! Amazing nutty, chocolate fudge goodness. God bless this place

Lords makes one of the best classic brooklyn jewish style cheesecakes I’ve had, and a small 9″ cake is oblh about $ 14…
No bs crust, no pound cake layer, just well constructed, firm cheesecake with the perfect balance of sweetness to tart.
Red velvet cakes also the best I’ve actually had grom a bakery. it actually tastes like mine. Usually when I get it the frosting has waaay too much sugar and is cloyingly sweet but here they seem to have gotten their proportions zeroed in right on the money.

Hands down makes the best red velvet cake in Brooklyn!!! Walking by the store, it may not look very impressive. The pictures on the walls of photocakes are a bit cheesy. However, their cakes are very good. I’ve had the German Chocolate cake, pound cake, but my favorite is their Red Velvet Cake. No other Red Velvet cake I’ve had compares. Years ago I was a big fan of Cakeman Raven’s Red Velvet in Fort Greene. Since that shop closed down, this is definitely another place to get great Red Velvet. In fact, my wife and I disagree but I think Lord’s Bakery Red Velvet is even better.

I travel 1 mile (many times by walking) just to buy their cheesecake. Its has a good price $ 3,95 for a big slice of strawberry cheesecake (can be shared by 2, i eat twice in one slice), they are very fresh and delicious. I only wish they made a more «natural» strwberry topping, since it looks a bit fake. I also have tried their red velvet cupcake ($ 2,75 i guess), the icing was very good, the cake was good to, but nothing special. They accept apple pay, credit card (minimum $ 4) and debit (minimum $ 10). The service is good, their employees are nice and upbeat. I’ve been there over 10 times in the past 2 months and it was all good!

i brought a red velvet cake and after i sang happy birthday and we cut the cake one of the slices in between the layer had a dead roach. disgusting! !!
i was so embarrassed, everybody that was already eating spit the cake out, some people were puking! i called bakery and spoke to a rude boss that denied it. they are pigs, never going back!

Top quality tasteful baking. Photo cakes are Master Art pieces. Me & my family have used Lords Bakery for many years. Especially for birthday & special occasion cakes. Today on my job me & a coworker picked up 2 cakes for our Christmas office party. Ordering the evening before is great also. One cake was a cheese cake, the other a red velvet cake with whipped butter icing. The staff loved both cakes. The cheese cake was light & fluffy with strawberries on top. The Lords quality items are great. I am always looking for new things to try at this spot. Thanks Lords, for years of great items & service.

Rainbow cookies there are delicious and the prices are extremely cheap.

I ordered a cake for my boyfriend and lords did not disappoint. I ordered about a week before and everything went perfect. I emailed the picture I wanted and let me tell u they did an amazing job. I ordered an 8 inch red velvet and it was so yummy. It was very very sweet but hey it’s a cake. It only cost 53 $ so that’s definitely a steal. I will definitely order again.

It’s an exotic bakery, to me. The coconut custard pie looked god but the coconut pastry was way yummy. The current roll was good too. You can heat it up. I heard that this is an institution in this area. I think all neighborhood bakeries should be supported. It opened until midnight. So when you finish your casual but yummy dinner next door, stop by and get your dessert fixing in.

I bought 10 cupcakes for my daughter’s birthday. All ten cupcakes went in the trash. The frosting were NASTY, and the cupcakes were HARD. My $ 16 went to waste!!! Lords Bakery would NEVER get my money again.

I see a bunch of people knocking the bakery for not having a great ambiance but really when you get right down to it, even if it didn’t have walls, it’s the taste that counts. I’ve honestly only gotten the pecan pies, tarts and sweet potato pies and tarts here and they have always been incredibly good to me. I will admit that having the place spruced up a bit would be nice but I like it for what it is :)

I had ordered a red velvet cake for my husband and myself for our little wedding celebration. it was disgusting! I used to order from them but when they hit me with that red velvet cake, I was so disgusted! never again!

I realize that this bakery is very popular with a lot of people, so I have tried to give it a genuine shot before reviewing.
Their regular cakes with fruit fillings just don’t do it for me. The red velvet is especially disappointing. It just tastes fake, if that makes sense. In all fairness, I don’t like red velvet from many places. Sometimes their cakes are just downright dry.
There is usually a ridiculous amount of frosting and the frosting tastes like something is off. It’s just too sweet and extra greasy.
This isn’t a terrible bakery, but it’s not something that I would make a special trip for.

My family has been going to Lords since it opened. My grandmother loved the Strawberry Short Cake with the strawberry sauce filling. Last year I wanted a Lords cake for my baby shower and was surprised by the design on the cake. I wanted animals and my mom ordered the cake. I loved it and so did my guest. My daughter had her first taste of a Lords cake and the tradition with my family and Lords will continue. Thank you for the best treats!!!

Love the pecan tarts and carrot cake.
The vanilla frosting cake is way too sweet.
They serve ice cream cake slices here!
The prices are decent.
The workers here get annoyed if you take too long deciding.

I grew up just blocks away from this neighborhood institution and more than half the times I come back to visit the fam I stop by Lords. Yes, now everyone knows they have the best red velvet cake in the city, even beating out Southern restaurants/​bakeries, but I don’t think of Lords in that way.
Back in the day, way before Dough was the king of doughnuts/​donuts, and when there wasn’t a Dunkin’ on every other block, Lords had the hands down best doughnuts in Brooklyn which used to sell at 60 cents each for many years, then up to $ 0.75. I won’t go through the whole list, but my fave was the pineapple filled one. We often got birthday cakes from there too, and as my family is big on celebrating birthdays — with the cake as the centerpiece — that’s a lot o’ cake (we also went to Conrad’s pretty often too). That said, for a few years there Lords kind of fell off on the quality, but with gained back the public’s taste buds trust with first the photo cakes (so corny!) and the red velvet. They also started making Caribbean minded treats like current rolls and coconut rolls, which are okay.
I still like them best for three specific items: The almond danish (which sells out quickly), the strawberry shortcake (of which they also sell individual slices — so good!), and their breads. Their cheesecake and carrot cake are also top notch.
Best of all, Lords still has pretty unbeatable prices. Enjoy this go-​to bakery again and again.

When I was a little girl every year for my birthday I would have a pineapple strawberry filled frosted cake from Lord’s bakery until recent my father brought me a strawberry shortcake from there and when I went to cut into it there was a huge Roach inside… Never again. Smh

I wasnt too thrilled about the red velvet cake. It felt kind of dense and not airy but it was still soft and moist. I liked the pineapple buttercream cake better.
I ordered 3 slices; 2 red velvet and one slice of the pineapple buttercream. I was tempted to get the slice of german chocolate cake. By the way, this was to share with my family, it wasnt all for me .lol.
Thw red velvet slice was $ 4.85 and the pineapple slice was $ 2.55.
They had other pastry assortments but I was too focused on the slices of cakes. Next time!

This place has been running the bakery game since it was all a dream and I used to read Word Up magazine.
I went back a few weeks ago for the first time since I was 10 and I was AMAZED at how NOTHING had changed. And in the case of a neighborhood institution like Lords Bakery, that is a very good thing.
I literally have never had anything bad here in my life. When I was a yute I used to get rugelach and Napoleons a lot and they were always heavenly. I’m sure they still are. A few weeks ago I got rainbow cookies and by the end of the next day they were all gone. I had NO help. (WILL NOT DISCLOSE HOW MANY.)
I just went to a Christmas Eve party and, on a whim, popped into Lords hoping something would jump at me that I could bring as a dessert offering. And sitting right in front of me was 3 rows of festive «Merry Christmas» cakes with red and green sprinkles. I got the chocolate buttercream layer cake. At a party with like 8 other different desserts, that cake was halfway gone in 10 minutes.
I should note that it’s a good idea to stand back and take a lay of the land before you get in line to order. If you get up to that counter like «umm…i’m not sure yet» you will get ALL the eyerolls, boo. As you should.
tl;dr: same number same hood, it’s all good.
