Had to order here a few times before leaving a review. Best china man spot in Brooklyn. Hands down. I don’t even order from the ones around my way, I drive a mile away from my crib just to get some decent Chinese food at Lucky House.

The chicken fried rice was packed so well that they couldn’t even close top! The egg plant was delicious and sweet and sour chicken was plentiful. Nice neighborhood take out which will be a keeper! Better time management would be if you call in your order and pick up versus having to wait while they prepare your order.

I’ve actually been coming to Sue for over 20 years when i say I’m never disappointed in anything that I have gotten from there. Even when i moved i would kindly take a 20 minute walk just to get Sue’s. Everything is the same from my childhood if not better. Glad shes still standing all these years later

tofu with broccoli and brown rice is on point! the nice man at the counter asked me if I wanted my tofu fried or steamed – fried, of course! generous portion for $ 6, albeit there was a lot of brown rice in the container which I didn’t finish. don’t judge a book by it’s cover. if it weren’t for the rave Unilocal reviews, can’t say I wouldn’t have walked right out upon seeing the bullet proof glass over the counter.

The food is never oily and the Crab Rangoon is the best in the neighborhood!

Oh, Sue, you did it again(I’ve only met her today, but she’s sweet and the food is delicious). I live right around the corner, and will be enjoying this amazing Chinese food a lot more now. The meals are priced very well, and the quality is just right. If you’re in a rush, just call ahead and you’ll be in and out in less than a minute.

so looking at all the reviews, I may have gotten the worst items. But the Lo mein was disgusting, smelled worse. The fried rice and general tso was ok. I could eat that and bare with it However, i wont say ill never eat here again(because ive never been a picky eater) but ill never order the lo mein from here again or the fried rice. Please dont be the only chinese food in BK.

This is the best Chinese restaurant in New York! The General Tso tofu, fried plantains, eggplant with garlic sauce, and broccoli with garlic sauce are amazing! The quality is always great and the food is always ready really fast. Sue is really friendly! Safe to say my favorite restaurant. :-)

Hole in the wall place with no seating and bulletproof glass at the counter. Had the general tso chicken and fried rice. Food was ok.

As far as Chinese takeout goes, it’s not great. Ok at best. They have a few items that are good but I’m mostly disappointed when I order from there. Very inconsistent. I should say, I live across the street have ordered food from there many times and its always out of desperation. My roommates and I almost never order from there anymore. We usually just grubhub Wonderful Asian, which delivers. Better dumplings, better general tso’s. Also, they don’t have cream cheese wonton/crab Rangoon, at least not on the menu. First place I’ve come across without those little gems.

I was in the neighborhood looking for some quick and cheap eats and I was shocked to see a Chinese Take-Out spot with so many good reviews. Could this finally be the Chinese-American Utopia I’ve been looking for for so long? YESITIS. I had Perfect General Tso’s Chicken. Perfectly crispy, juicy interiors, and perfect sweet/sour/spicy sauce(heavy on the sweet but not insane like other terrible places). Hunan Beef gave me flashbacks to great Chinese Takeout from when I was a kid. Great Egg Rolls and interesting(tho not my favorite) Hot and Sour Soup. Now, I’m hugely obsessed with real Chinese cuisine and as far as I know this is not that, but one thing that is AUTHENTIC is: DUMPLINGS. My God. They’re as good as some in Flushing and Sunset Park Chinatowns. Tender, HOMEMADE(i think) skins with juicy pork and lots of herbs! The lady proprietor was also VERY nice to me. She kept making sure I had enough bags and was safe on my bike. I just wish I lived closer to this place to get it all the time. Question for Owner: Sue(if thats your name), do you have any homestyle authentic Chinese dishes? I saw Kung Pao Chicken on the wall. Is that like Sichuan style or more of the American version? OKTHANKS

Really some of the best Chinese style fast food ever. It’s pick up only. They don’t deliver and you don’t eat in. But the food is really very good. Best Wonton Soup I’ve had. Best Fried Chicken Wings I’ve had. Best Pork Fried Dumplings Ive had. They always show you the order before they bag it and they’ll ask you what sauce you want. Cash only and they just got an ATM. 4 stars because they don’t deliver. But I guess they don’t need to because it really is pretty damn good.

If you are looking for a warm fuzzy greeting from Sue when you walk thru the door don’t bother, this is a Bed Stuy local Chinese take out spot that was a staple in the hood before the rents became to damn high(pun intended) and Lewis Avenue became hoodtastically trendy, the bullet proof glass still separates you from the kitchen staff, but the mussels with garlic sauce, hot and sour soup, brown rice, and steam broccoli is cooked to perfection, filled with flavor, and not over cooked. I would give it a 5 star but the wait on a Friday night can be 45 minutes or more if you walk in, hint call ahead and when Sue yells«pick up ten minute, ten minute», that really means twenty minutes if you’re lucky. Try the steamed vegetable or shrimp dumplings, definitely worth the wait.

Don’t let the exterior fool you, When I’m in the neighborhood and have a taste for Chinese I eat here! Best Chinese food ever. Try the chicken nuggets(boneless white chicken) with shrimp vegetable fried rice honey sauce over everything and mombo sauce on the side! !

I couldn’t believe it when I tried this place. Its the best chinese food out here by far. Everything I have got has been great. General tsos chicken is really good and the pork fried rice is the way it supposed to be not soggy mush like most places. It look like a dump but don’t just a book by its cover or in this case its bullet proof window. No delivery :(but its worth the walk. I’m going to be moving soon and this will be one of the few places I will miss.

Lucky House aka Sue’s is the best Chinese takeout I’ve had in Brooklyn. Sure it looks like a hole in the wall with bullet proof windows but the food is top notch. Once I had my first steamed dumpling I became a faithful follower of this neighborhood spot. The traditional dishes do not disappoint either. I’ve tried my luck with other carryouts only to realize Lucky House does it 100xs better.

A true hole in the wall mom-n-pop Chinese take out. No seats. Thick glass window and unfriendly staff. Guess if you’re working 12 hrs a day everyday you won’t be friendly too. Since there’s only irritated and overworked staff, wait time for something that’s suppose to be quick is anything but. My chicken with eggplant with brown sauce over rice took 20 minutes. It’s a lot of food for $ 6. It’s a decent meal just to fill up. But the lady was pure rude. Guess she’s too busy to give a rats ass about customer service

Considering that I am, ahem, ‘The Duke’ of Lucky House a review is indeed in order. Now as a lifelong Brooklynite, outside of that 3+ years need for a change in Jersey City, I feel I’m a great judge of hoodtastic Chinese fast food. I’ve had some horrible experiences right in the neighborhood, to say the least, but Lucky House — fortified with an ‘actual’ Sue and not just a stereotypical/standard name for the older lady behind the counter/bulletproof glass — makes the search for a decent spot in the Stuy totally worth it. First off, they have A LOT of tasty vegetarian and vegan options. And they don’t charge extra for brown rice. Technically, that’s all I have to say — but I will say more. The price? Can’t beat it. What they save on not having to pay a delivery dude they make up for on the(relative) quality of the ingredients and the price point. And they’ll even sometimes throw in a lil’ something something for free(I really just mean some extra sauce). Extra-special: the posterboard sign that proclaims them as a the #1 Bed-Stuy chinese restaurant on Unilocal. Don’t judge that negatively. It’s dope. Extra-extra-special: they’re smart enough to put pictures of their menu on their Unilocal page. Honestly, that’s what first made me come here. I love smart restauranteurs.
